  • Hey... to get it in competitive driving mode, do you just hold down the traction control button?

  • @APBGrrl Hold the button for 5 seconds.

  • I used to spin 1 2 3 catch 4th, I just put some KDW's on and it put somewhat of an end to that, now its 1 2 catch 3rd lol, I love the vettes! best car you can buy IMO! and still run with or beat most cars on the road today and my vettes almost 10 years old, only 66k tho lol

  • Come on man. Launch easy if u want to get a good 0-60. And launch like that if u want tire spin.

  • Someone needs some Mickey Thompsons!

  • a lot of wheel spin, but would be fun

  • is that stock??

  • @Eidrian111 yes thatw as while the car was still stock.

  • i thoguht the z06 had 505 hp?

  • @rocker4u123 - the 2006 and newer C6 Z06 is a 505bhp 427ci Gen VI... the 2001 C5 Z06 was a 385bhp 346ci Gen III, the 2002 to 2004 C5 Z06 was a 405bhp 346ci Gen III.

  • Sick ass z. I have a 03 z. I was wondering where you bought the wide rear fenders? Thanks bud

  • how much horsepower??

  • @raxes32 when this video was made the car was producing 330rwhp (385bhp).

  • @RCFourFive dam for something that fast i figured it must have like 400 something horse, I drive a tuner it saves me gas but it's nothing near the legend of corvette power, have you modded it since then?

  • @raxes32 yes, it grewup to become CamZilla - current iterarion is 580rwhp 515rwtq. Has been as high as 600rwhp, 535rwtq.

  • 0-60 looked like about 6 seconds since u were spinning? crappy driving.

  • @cliffabrown *sniff* *sniff* You drive an import or domestic FWD 4 cylinder? Care to post up your car and you driving? Or are you all mouth?

  • @RCFourFive i have a video of my old car...91 mr2 turbo. it had exhaust/downpipe/boost controller. i ran consistent 8.7's in the 8th mile, and even waxed an '02 z06 at the track (however it was a woman driving HAHA) and sadly enough, with the way you were driving in this video, i would have had you in the 8th mile in my old puny 4 cyl turbo.

i currently drive a 96 trans am. if i had a video camera, i would show you how to properly launch a car ;p

  • @cliffabrown In other words you are just full of mouth. Put up or shut up.

  • @RCFourFive lol. don't get so offended just cuz i said u drive like a woman. if you're ever in alabama, come race me...i'll give you a personal lesson in how to drive.

  • @cliffabrown who is offended? That video was made when you where 13 years old - I have forgotten more ab driving than youhave learned in your entire life time. Put up or shut up.

  • @cliffabrown He got it to 60 in 4 seconds on street tires. Thats better than 99.9% of the test magazines when the 01 z came out so I would say he drives pretty well.

  • @joeympower 0-60 was about 6 seconds, he was still spinning

  • Your right around what my GTO did to 60 mph but I had a lot more traction problems... I got the vid up if you wanna check it out... Car sounds tuff... Nice vid...

  • Well, don't take me wrong, because I know that Z cars are nasty, and they are the fastest cars I've ever ridden in. But spinning to 60 mph in 4 seconds doesn't exactly count. If it did, my 98 Mustang could do 0-60 in 4 seconds.

Either way, I see it hooking up at around 65 just a tick after 5 seconds, so it would still be 4.8 seconds or so. And that's spinning most the way through first and second...

    Nice ride!

  • I see your point, but you may also be assuming that the tyres spinning equates to no forward momentum - you see how I feathered the throttle to maintain forwar d movement rather than just do a rolling burnout.

Is it a TRUE catapult 0-60 in 4s flat launch? No it isnt - was the car fast enough in stock form to hookup and surprise MANY exotics? Hell yeah :)

In fact, with stock 330rwhp the car was EASIER to launch hard into 4.xs 0-60 that it is now with 600rwhp. :)

  • lol, I bet it was. That's what I was saying; even though it took 4.8s give or take in this video, if it stuck it woulda been low 4's for sure.

What have you done to get 600rwhp? H/C/I? or supercharger?

  • Look at my other CamZilla videos to see the car in its latest form.

It has big brakes, functional down force and a forged nasty cammed LS7.

The videos show the car as it changed over the years - stock, then MTI cam and headers, then LS7 and .700+ lift cam, then big brakes and flared fenders and finally functional air and milder Katech cam in the LS7.

  • anyone who is saying dont redline is a fucken retard. You dont shit at peak power you shift AFTER it so you go into next gear at a closer rpm to the peak power so you stay around that rpm as much as you can.

But.. On the launch you could ease out at bit lower rpm and slip the clutch a bit more to hold traction better in first.

  • Well, the C5 Z06 was built for endurance at high RPM, more so than the "Regular" Corvettes, much less a 'normal' car.

In you're situation, you may want to learn the "Heel-to-Toe" Technique....

  • I take it you have tens of thousands of miles in an LS6 powered C5 then? Right?

I mean you are all "good tip" and all... Jebuzchristmas man.. every yahoo with a license is farging expert these days.

The car, even when stokc made power and puleld like a freight train right up to redline... shift any lower than redline and the motor drops below the peak torque on the upshift to the next gear.

This is no PS3.. its real life ;)

  • Correct. When I got my car, I hit the limiter a lot because it sounds and feels like it needs more RPM. The T1 guys raise the limiter on the stock LS6 to 7000 or so and it improves the performance. Leave it to youtube posters to tell you to incorrectly short shift your car.

  • Exactly how many times have you been to the track with your car? Also look at any dyno sheet for an any car the max power IS NOT at redline so please use your brain

also I do have about 10,000 miles behind the wheel of an 02 z06

    thanks...

  • Your point? You are still CLUELESS as to how to drive a car - the C5 Z06 specifically - anyone who shifts a stock LS6 at 6,000rpm is a moron,

In other words you are a moron. How abotu you take your "advice" over to CorvetteForum and tell the folks how to go FAST in a C5 Z06, you have to short shift at 6,000rpm.

Then get back to us with their answer.

    Moron.

  • hey man just remember, even though max power is at 6k rpm, you are still making more power beyond 6k than if you shift right away at 6

  • (skunkbullock) Please tell me you have not reproduced.

  • what year z06 im guessing that its 02+

  • My 2001 C5 Z06 was pretty much stock at the time of this video.

  • Whats the difference between a z06 and a c6 z06?

  • go look it up on wikipedia

  • this is c5 z06 which means its the older z06 c6 z06 is the new z06

  • god damn it i like the way it accelerate

  • if he had traction then i won't even sayy... is this stock c5 z06?

  • The car was stock at the time - stock except for a louder muffler.

Stock Goodyear SC F1 tyres, stock factory tune and stock air filter.

  • I had a 2002 Camaro SS with 438 RWHP and couldn't get any traction. So I bought some new 11" rims and got some 11" Nitto drag radials for the rear tires and it helped out a lot for traction. They are street legal and still handled very well.

Maybe you should get a set for your Z06. I bet it will help you hook up better on launches and they are good for street or track racing. What good is all the extra horsepower if you can't get your tires to stick?

    Nice ride man!

  • 0-60 4 seg ??

    0-100 13 seg??

    no traction!!!!!

  • More specifically - 6600rpm in 3rd was already 100mph, that was at about 12s... 13s was 4th gear 4900rpm - or 108mph ;)

To be precise, 5500rpm in 2nd was 58mph at the 4s mark, and then 6600rpm is 70mph in 2nd at 7s.

Not bad for an ordinary street :)

  • Very nice

    5 stars

  • Yes...

  • That was when the car was stock with only 330rwhp - it was actually easier to get ripping 0-60 numbers then than it is now with 430rwhp.

But it is great fun being able to squeal the tyres at over in 3rd and 4th though ;)

And of course accel. in the gears above 100mph is way better now.

  • I agree, I'm not impressed with my z06 when I'm accelerating over 70mph, And I've got basic bolt ons putting down about 390... I want turbo's!!!

  • With 600+ to the wheels these days I almost have too much of a good thing... the car will spin the tyres and fishtail on a hard 4th to 5th shift with street tyres - great fun... scary, but fun :)

  • Ahh, that's what im talkin bout!

  • damn, thats only 4 seconds and you didnt even hook up good.
