I'LL SAY IT AGAIN FOR USED-UP IDIOTS LIKE Neville6000 to absorb.. ''A Real man with Morals, Character and Integrity. Imagine that in this society where what is important is exotic dancing, Promiscuous sex and worshipping the almighty dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!''
He's a doctor, a surgeon, scientist, researcher, inventor, master of martial arts, uses rockets to catch fish, can see stars in artic weather conditions, and has a two foot cock that's three inches thick with a libido to match, but the only thing that satisfies him are rhinos. His fortress of solitude is so cool it has its own sign right at the door.
He was a physician, surgeon, scientist, adventurer, inventor, explorer, researcher, and, as revealed in The Polar Treasure, a musician. A team of scientists assembled by his father deliberately trained his mind and body to near-superhuman abilities almost from birth, giving him great strength and endurance, a photographic memory, a mastery of the martial arts, and vast knowledge of the sciences.

A team of scientists assembled by his father deliberately trained his mind and body to near-superhuman abilities almost from birth, giving him great strength and endurance, a photographic memory, a mastery of the martial arts, and vast knowledge of the sciences.
So to avoid comparisons to Superman, who came afterward, here's my idea for the new Doc Savage movie.
Doc is sitting at his desk reading a copy of Action Comics #1. Ham comes up to him and says, "Doc, you should never have licensed your life story to the funny books."
What you must realize is that there was a time when the Tv & movie industry treated most comic book characters as a joke, in live action. With the rare exception of the Green Hornet and Tarzan series. Only the 60s animation houses did Saturday morning as largely serious drama. But then some parents' group complained it was too violent for kids. And got Saturday mornings turned into a Scooby Do level of storylines. It took decades to reverse this. Probably starting with imported Japanese anime.
A Real man with Morals, Character and Integrity. Imagine that in this society where what is important is exotic dancing, Promiscuous sex and worshipping the almighty dollar.
@CRMunir1: What is it with people like you that you have to believe in this bullshit meme that the past was better than the present? Get this through your head: THE GOOD OLD DAY WERE NOTHING OF THE KIND! Try reading some history, or better yet (if you can find it) watch the TV show History Bites and get a REAL objective perspective of history.
@Neville6000 The good ole days?? Do you know you're a fucking Pinhead? It is a Fucking Movie!! ITS MADE FOR ESCAPE AND I TOOK THAT LIBERTY!! THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU IS YOU DONT HAVE AN IQ ABOVE PLANT LIFE SO YOU CANT TALK TO ME. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD..YOU'RE A CORRUPT DEGENERATE DISEASE RIDDEN METROPOLITAN FAGGOT WITH KEYBOARD COURAGE!! KEEP YOUR FUCKING OPINIONS TO YOURSELF AND LEARN TO COMPREHEND WHAT YOU READ, BITCHBOY!! BTW, CONSIDER YOURSELF IGNORED!!!!!!!
@CRMunir1: I'm a intelligent man who is aware of the past and the present, and of the good and bad things that happened/happen in both eras. I know that this movie is an escapist fantasy-I'm not so sure that you are, judging by the silly comment that you made comparing yesterday with today.
The mistake was to hand the directing over to Michael " I can't direct sci-fi to save my life" Anderson. The man whogave us such classics as " Logan's Run" ( remember the box shaped robot amusingly named Box ?) or " The Martian Chronicles " was always going to produce a pigs ear out of a silk purse.
Now, Lindsay Anderson might have had something interesting to say, but Michael could barely direct traffic -as this clips opening 15 seconds show.
yeah i loved this movie when it came out. i still think its great fun! i especially loved the ending--Perfect ending! is it true you can buy this on dvd now?
If you want an actual comicbook Doc Savage homage read Warren Ellis's Planetary, it has a beautiful take on the character. DC comics is going to be doing a Doc Savage miniseries soon but we'll just have to see if it's worthwhile.
Now that you mention it, I see the resemblence. The Arctic fortress, the incredible mind, the fabulous five (Nite Owl, Rorschach, Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhatten) and a recurring enemy: The Comedian
I loved this film when it was released too. Would love to see it again. Far from the person below who thought they mis-represented the genre, I felt that the playful spirit of the film captured the nature of the books (of which I read many) quite well...
buckaroo banzai kind of had this feel. i alwasy loved it when after the green snakes came into the hotel one of doc's guys says to him, "what was that, doc?" and doc replies, "I don't know... I really don't know." i loved this movie and still do
He's not a fag. The actor is Ron Ely, who starred in the Tarzan TV series of the 1960s. But he does look rather silly in this movie nevertheless... He's miscast.
My brothers and I saw this movie 8 times in three days after winning 24 free tickets at a 'Doc Savage Treasure Hunt' at Anaheim Plaza!Too bad the topic was treated like camp. It could have been a seriously fine movie.
It is really sad that this literiture can not recieve a serious treatment. Why not take the subject character more seriously, hellboy is treated more seriously. Doc Savage was not meant to be a Joke, reak the books. He was the first superhero.
Background music - I saw this film many years ago - What is the name of the music behind - I gather it is by John Philip Sousa with lyrics appropriate for this film
I just found it - the theme is The Thunderer. I have always been an avid fan of D.S. adventures. I particularly liked the theme. it is full of pep and really conveys the thrill of the story!!
Ha ha! this is what Seth Rogen's Green Hornet will end up like. CRAP! What a piece of crap this movie is. Why do Hollywood idiots insist on making hero story adaptations as if they are making a live cartoon? No morons, we have that already, we want you to make a movie! WITH REAL PEOPLE! Thank god for the Sam Raimi's and Steven Spielbergs of the world. You know Raiders was only made 5-6 years after this. What a difference a few years, good casting, and a real director make.
@MickeyLove01 Doc was trained primarily as a surgeon. That said, it's important to understand that Doc had been trained almost from birth in every field of knowledge and made ground-breaking contributions to most of them.

Actually, Doc Savage was in print years before Superman. So if anyone stole (uh, was inspired by) any ideas, it was probably the other way around.
