  • qanun is an arabic instrment

  • I've recently been introduced to this instrument in a music class. I can't stop listening to this version of Nothing Else Matters. You did an excellent job.

  • mükemmelsin

  • tek kelimeyle süper

  • if i owned this i'd sit and feel a trance just by listening to its sond. Damn it sound good!!

  • Please do more covers of foreign music with qanun, Shape of my heart is my suggestion to do so. :)

  • god damn, this motherfucker can play a sweet verion of this song. amazing!

  • EXCELLENT !

You are a really great musician - for mastering this instrument and for your personal inspired interpretation.

About the discussion in the comments for the origin of Qanun (Canon - Greek:"kanon - κανον"), i thing it is originally a Greek instrument (as the name suggest, meaning the rules of polyphony) and used way before was used by others (by Byzantines and in a primitive form even in Pythagoras times) - but you are a Turk and i am a Greek, so ... !

    Barış Arkadaşım.

  • way to go!

  • Kanun is used By Turks and Arabs

    en. wikipedia. org / wiki / Kanun _ % 28 instrument %29

  • World got talent. I can't stop watching this ):

  • I see people fighting about the origins and the land here :|?!

Why don't STFU and enjoy the music :/ ?!

  • @Gorvard8 yes yes its armenian instrument everything is armenian even the tour eifell is armenian. brother now one knows armenia. only what's original from armenia that is the beautifull girls woooooooooow they are hot budy. i want to fuck they one by one.

  • Keep dreaming! it's not Armenian Not Something else, it's middle eastern

  • @Gorvard8 UKRAINE IS GAME TO YOU?

  • @Gorvard8 it's not aremnian lol and not othoman of course the first use of it is very ambigus because he's derived from another instrument but what we know that his name is from arabic langage Qanun witch is the equivalent of the Greec word Kanon and the second thing that he was attribute to El-Farabi Era and he use mostly like a first version of it. so what is evident Qanun is up from three world : Greec : Harp(ancestor) and the name : Kanon +Islamic world : persian use arabic name !!

  • @Fatallica1985 It's origins lay in Farab, former Turkistan (now Uzbekistan)

And what does Kanon mean in Greek? Qanun means law/rule in Arabic, I find it hard to believe that kanon means the same in Greek. Kanun is still used as the word for law in Turkey and Suleyman the magnificent was called Kanuni by Muslims (the law maker).

  • @3choBlaster

You are an arrogant hill billy. Open a book and educate yourself.

Kanon is a greek work right from the start. It means rule.

The ancient greeks laid the foundations for your maqam music, with intervals and tetrachords.

This was adopted by the Arabs, and they never hide that fact.

All your dozens of maqams are just combinations of Byzantine tetrachords.

  • @08aspe Pathetic attempt to claim other peoples history .. it's sickening the only hill billy here is you.

Kanun is a TURKIC instrument with an ARAB name. Kanun is Turkish, like Karagoz & Hacivat and the Zeybeks are Turkish .. keep lying to your self instead of doing some real research ..

Give some sources with your bullshit, the origins of the Kanun are WELL known. And they certainly are not Greek

The word Kanun is adopted from Arabic. Further past or meaning of the word is irrelevant

  • @3choBlaster

I never said the instrument is greek.

I said the word is greek. Next time actually READ THE POST.

You can keep your Karagoz and all the other Turkish rubbish. You call that history and culture??

You people came out of nowhere a few centuries ago.

We built the Parthenon and invented civilisation when you people were still picking your asses and grunting to each other.

And don't compare yourselves to the Arabs.

Mesopotamians, Phonecians, Egyptians and Turks. Spot the odd one out.

  • @08aspe I never compared us to the Arabs you idiot.

Your stupidity is fucking obvious .. especially since you think civilization is something that can be invented, you fucking retard. Hahaha if the Greeks stoped doing, eating etc everything that's Turkish in their culture they wouldn't have a culture left.

Your a confused Christian wannabe Turk you have nothing in common with the Ancient Greeks. Greeks came to Anatolia and conquered it just like we did

We simply where better at it

  • @3choBlaster

Your comments started off offensive. Now they are plain funny.

Nothing in Turkey is really Turkic. Except maybe the language.

Music, food, religion, is all Persian and Arabic.

Even your genes are less than 10% Turk. You are mongrels.

Yes, there are Turkish elements in Greek culture. What do you expect? You sat your fat asses in our country for 400 years. Dont' you think anything would rub off.

    I'm not confused, just educated.

And now you are too. Just a bit.

  • @08aspe Hahah keep fooling your self, you retard. How come Turkish elements rubbed off to the Greeks if there is nothing Turkish in our culture?

It's simply a fact that most thing in Turkey are Turkic, while you Greeks don't have anything in common with the ancient Greeks but some architecture we still have our culture. Is your religion Greek? you dumb retard? For all we know Jesus was an Arab too. Our food and music is what you Greeks copied most, you're the one that needs educating.

  • @3choBlaster

Put your stupidity aside for a few moments.

    Do yourself a big favour.

First, go to turkishmusicportal and look up music of azerbaijan

    Then, wiki Tetrachord

You will see what a huge influence greek music has had in the middle east and europe

Our music is an unbroken chain for at least 2500 years, even if there have been external influences.

    Ancient->Byzantine->Modern

That is at least one thing I have in common with my ancestors.

Next time, write about things you actually understand

  • @08aspe and now you're broke :-(

  • SWEET! This is better than any satanic black bass or solo guitarist i've ever heard!

Middle Eastern Music is so rich compared to the childish 12 half tone scale in the west

    baba super olmush ruhuna saglik!

  • @buzadam40

Qanun came from persian Santoor & santoor came from India & dont have 1/4 tones so ......

Saz came from Persian Dotar ........

    Odd Rythms like [ 9/8 , 10/8 , 9/4 ..... ] came from Balkan

türks - came to Byzantia [ Anatolia (a Greek Name not türks)] from between Kyrgyzstan and middle Persia territory + stole lands of Ponti Greeks & Armenians + stole music instruments & styles so .....

Free THAT LAND & free Constantinopole + go back to your real land !

  • @riddik0 Kanun came from Turkistan, it's simply a fact. Say what ever you want you can't change it. It's a Turkic instrument. Not Persian, and santoor has nothing but the strings in common with the Kanun. We all know name comes from the Arabic, law/rule, but the instrument is Turkic. It's as simple as that. It's origins are in Farab Turkistan (now Uzbekistan).

  • @riddik0 Btw you retard, saz and dotar are not related.

We came to Turkey so what you dumb piece of shit. So did the persians and kurds with the Persian invasions, and the Greeks, Romans, Armenians etc.

The land was originally HITTITE, HATTI and Troyan not GREEK, not BYZANTINE, not PERSIAN, not ARMENIAN. So stop barking you pathetic moron, worry about your god forsaken 3rd world country who's being run by religious fanatics.

Pathetic attempt to discredit Turks and Turkey.

  • @riddik0 Better yet your an Israeli .. don't you have innocents to kill Jew? Are you telling US we've got to move out of the country we've been living in and ruling nearly 1000, while YOUR the one living in a nation who believes that a 3000 year old book justifies stealing Arab land (while it forbids you exactly that) you're the invaders jew, not us. This has been our land for ages now .. how long have you been there as a state?

    FREE Palestine

  • @riddik0 btw, Turks have ruled Palestine longer then you've EVER did. And in a couple of months Palestine will be independent, so you won't be able to bully them around anymore
