You do realize that all of these alternative endings were never meant to be used, right? The director said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he shot four endings just in case one of them (or possibly more) were leaked onto the internet before the finale was aired...that way, no one would know the real the one.

WAIT...before I said it was terrible that Big said YOU'RE THE ONE, but now I know WHY he said that. Earlier, when Carrie wouldn't go on the cruise ship with him, she said that she needed him to tell her that SHE WAS THE ONE. That's why he tells her that. Whew, sure glad I cleared that up.

I am going to make a confession,I'd totally take them back if they decided to do 6 more seasons.I would forgive them for ruining my life & my relationship by ending the show prematurely. @frankeerazor: I totally agree with you my friend. Season 5 was only 5 episodes, but season 6 was perfect! If only they had continued. The 2 movies didn't reach the level of the series but I still hope they will do one more sequel. Shame they ended it in season 6 (same thing happened in 24; they ended it in season 8 and now kiefer sutherland does nothing). I loved loved loved SEATC!!!

Disagree. This is a far more believable and realistic ending. The series could have ended on a much deeper line about Carrie having to choose a response to what she'd learnt of the world at her expectations rather than just "everything turned out ok".

I TOTALLY agree with you. I LOVED Ayden. He was the nicest guy for her. I doubt he would ever have a comeback though. In one of the episodes, when Carrey was off on a date with Jack Burger, Carrey runs into Ayden. He has a little baby that he calls "Tator". He also tells Carrey that he married another furniture designer. I was bummed. Ayden was my favorite boyfriend. Theres a movie coming out. Bigg is in it.

That said, I think the producers realised this. That's probably why the final image is of a single woman (Carrie) happily walking the streets alone, rather than an artifical image of Carrie and Big under a sunset. Also, the final words were significant, reminding us of the value of 'the relationship you have with yourself'. Hope there is a film. Be good to see the girls, and the reality of AFTER 'happy ever after'...

I much prefer these endings. It was a ending that did justice to the series. It was disappointing that all the women were paired off at the finale. The series that had spent six yrs celebrating singledom, individuality etc seemed to be suggesting that affirmation/contentment is realised by finding a man. Not exactly a modern or feminist resolution. It just felt like it undermined the series somewhat.
