Correction Deb, we had them in '70 or '71 when Santa delivered them to Lake Shore. In '72 we were living in NY and the chains had broken so we used them to coast down the mountain on. They were SO COOL!
I had one of these in 71-72. I have been looking for a picture or anything on the Chopperoo for years. You cannot even find a picture on the internet of one of these. Thanks for sharing the video. This was definitely an upgrade from the Big Wheel. It's amazing how some of the coolest toys were only available for a few years....like the Vertibird, for example. I have an 8 year old boy and I have yet to find a toy on the market today that he cannot break in a week. The quality of toys today sucks.
Were they to put the Chopperoo on the market these days, it would have to come with helmet, elbow and knee pads and enough bubble wrap to completely swaddle your kid, or it wouldn't get past the legal department.
My Brother and I each had one in '73. I agree, It kicked the Big Wheel's ass!
