I saw like a 50 minute thing on this somewhere. It was caused by a land slide, hence the rumbling. Scientists think that there was lava and water inside the mountain, lava causing the water to evaporate which was building up the pressure on the mountain. The pressure climaxed and the mountain sorta exploded, which caused the landslide and in turn, the wave.

I heard about this Alaskan cataclysm years ago from an ex-professional fisherman who'd "heard it from a friend of a friend." I kind of believed him, but you know, it seemed just a bit incredible that fishermen were on a boat with a huge wave propelling them hundreds of feet up and over the trees and into the ocean! But I never forgot it. Sure enough, years later I found out the details about this event. It was true! And the story was even more incredible than what I had been told.

It was a landslide induced tsunami in Lituya Bay. Lituya Bay is shaped like a T. I don't recall the exact details, but somewhere a large landslide fell into the bay from an over steepened slope displacing all of the water underneath it. A very steep wall of water rushed down the bay. These guys I think were far enough away from the landslide that they could ride out the wave without being capsized.

part of the end of the video is wrong. it said lots of boats were lost, and the people on them were lost. the truth was that only 2 people died when there fishing boat sank. the way the tsunami was created was from a landslide somewhere, followed by an 8.3 magnitude earthquake. so, some of the video is wrong, though i learned some new stuff about the tsunami.

Yes indeed, God does it "through" nature in order to show us a lesson and send to that person (and to the rest of mankind) a message of fear of Him and reasoning over the persons own mistakes (i.e. so that he/she wouldn't repeat them in the future ); for this same even could happen under God's Own Will right where we are. Nature is itself a creation of God along with the entire universe.
