  • No is not a crime.

  • That news reporter lady is HOT!

  • I don't know about US but around here it's illegal to videotape or take pictures of people without their consent. That automatically includes law-enforcement and any other human beings.

  • If SOPA passes this week, most of youtube videos will be taken down. If you think this is bad wait til next week. Im an american, and i gotta say, if this passes, we are some dumb mother fuckers.

  • record anyway....screw them and the judge....STAND AND TELL THEM TO KISS YOUR.....

  • I've seen this video before (yes I saw it on the news in md)

  • Well if your going to do 16 years for shooting a cop you might as well shoot a cop.

  • If a police officer is just doing his/her job, then he/she shouldn't have to worry about a video of them doing said job leaked onto the Internet.

  • @frankystein12 you are garbage!

  • I spent 17 days in jail for video taping in public. There is no such thing as rights for citizens. And cops will always do whatever they want.

  • definitly illegal in illinois,

what about the man in oakland, ca that was killed by a cop in the subway. that was ll videod by people watching with their cmaeras

  • Take a long look at the cops face and remember him. !!!!!! We The People are lookin for you Pig with a gun... Put down the gun big man.. now your not so big are you... Punk!

  • the guy on the left way better than the usual hacky big dude you guys usually have on here(you know..the one always tryin to be bill maher lite) keep him around...adds a TON of credibility to your web news show now onto the topic.....we can film whatever we WANT if its in public, its america...not the 1980's era USSR...maybe if criminals stopped dressing like cops..wait wtf am i saying..they ARE cops haha..then this country would be better for everyone

  • Wiretapping needs consent only if it is being taken place in location of "expected privacy." The 4th ammendment contains info on wiretapping and explains that public places or places viewable from the public are not places of "reasonable expected privacy."

So filming on the street, from your house (looking outside), or from your car is fine, as long as you dont interfere with what the officer(s) is doing.

  • I WON MY WIRETAPPING CHARGE AGAINST NASHUA N.H. POLICE. HSE BILL154

  • Cop is still a person, he has rights to his privacy like anyone else. You need to get approval to tape and broadcast about a person's personal life. Whether you like m or not, most of them are there to protect you, and those you love. Most people only hate them cause they got done for speeding or something, and disagree. Grow up.

  • @b12blib In a public place it is okay to video and put it up on youtube, as I am able to video people walking along the high-road and put it up. Not that anyone would watch it, as it would be boring as heck. The people didn't consent, doesn't mean I can't do it. If the person doesn't want me to put that video up, that's fine I will take it down. But it doesn't give them the ground to prosecute me and put me in jail for 16 years, Just because it makes them look bad, doesn't mean the case changes

  • @spursdude92

Yup, just checked and you are correct. Not sure how I got to reply to this specific video post however. I was watching another one of a guy taping a cop who asked him not too. He wasn't agressive or pulling guns etc, but he was simply trying to break up a public gathering which he deemned inappropriate.

But in this vid its a diff story. 16 years seems far fetched, and wrong indeed.

  • @b12blib You're on the cops side? THIS IS NOT FILMING HIS PERSONAL LIFE YOU DUMB ASS!!!!!!! He was in public pulling a gun on a person for speeding while IN PUBLIC!!

  • @ChrisTripp

I'm on no one's side Chis. Simply responded to the wrong vid somehow. Keep the name calling to yourself pls.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing, (I did post it, albeit wrong vid) but one can keep it civil.

  • @b12blib

    NOPE.

If the cop was in HIS house he would have a right to privacy and it would require approval. In public, regardless if he is working or not? Nope.

He chose to be a PUBLIC servant. NOT A PRIVATE servant. You're not in a position to tell people to "grow up" when you are not mature enough to comprehend basic law.

  • @TornTesticle

Read the rest of my replies before you go off into rants. Already corrected my statement.

And what position are you in to tell others what position they are in? You don't even read further than you can see.

  • Police officer are public agent: they are working for us, with our money that we sort of agree to collectively put in a pot... At the exception of high-security cases (inquiry on murder case) or case that have to be secret for strategic reason (W frame Roger Rabbit... Well, how could W is out of the country than?), they should be taped all the time and these video should be available in the public domain with free copies to any person who want to see the work of any officer.

  • Yea ... For video recording POLICE CRIMES!

  • Wire Tapping? A person who uses a camera or video camera to take images of their person, their property or public places (not bathrooms, bedrooms, etc) are legally right to record. However, This man did not enter the police station, install a camera and record them without the knowledge of the officers. If everyone is recording then everyone needs to petition their states to change the antiquated laws. This case has no weight not merit but lets see what the judge says.

  • Yeah but the Rodney King case was dumb! The guy was on PCP for crying out loud, he could of probably killed a goddamn lion with his fists if he wanted to. Police needed to take him down. I understand if cops are using unnecessary force on INNOCENT individuals, but if your driving on PCP, then your putting others in danger.

  • cops video tap us when they pull us over with their dash cams so how come we cant film them doing stuff. Its only fair lol

  • @controversyking

I've encountered cops that escalate things all on their own.

Depending on the cop, even giving them an innocent explanation could set them off.

It's as if some of them are ready to shoot you just for saying a single word to them.

  • @controversyking Well...Rodney King was high on PCP and driving down the road intoxicated. His fault. Not his fault that they beat the shit out of him while he was already down. If they're down, make the arrest and get on with your shift. Skip Gates was a respected professor trying to get into his own house. I'm surprised that his neighbor Lucia Whalen (a white woman who actually was a Harvard employee) didn't recognize her neighbor who worked at the same College she did.

  • Rodney King was an intoxicated crack head driving erratically. The force was unnecessary but the dude was a dirty scumbag.

  • So it is illegal for someone to video record your voice without you knowing about it. So does that mean the FBI getting tapping warrants on you and tapping you without your permission, is alright? I don't get that.

  • @TRYER25 Yeah, if they "suspect" you of being a "terrorist". Thank everyone who supported the PATRIOT Act.

  • @murderaddiction "Thank" them by slapping them in the face.

  • @murderaddiction Ok maybe a terrorist why not. But I have seen prosecutors throw that word too loosely sometimes. Just don't point at everyone and yell *Witch*.

  • @TRYER25 The issue is that they only have to suspect somebody as being a terrorist to be allowed to practically stalk them. Probably not the biggest problem in America right now, but it could be a major problem in the near future. It's just creepy.

  • @murderaddiction Just don't let the Law have a double standard. If it is illegal to do something, don't allow the police, CIA or FBI hide behind their shield. It is getting really stupid seeing them arrest people and then seeing them do it themselves.=Z

  • @TRYER25

Warrant = free pass to do what they want to you

  • Read your wire tap laws, when your in public you can not get in trouble for video taping a cop, there is no privacy in public. Wiretap laws happen if you are in a private residence and you video tap someone with out letting them know it is happening.

Now if you have signs posted that your house is video monitored and it is posted on your house in front then yes you can video tap in your house without telling anyone. also Wiretap laws apply to Copper phone lines more.

  • Indeed

  • Just so everyone is clear, a cop can lie, and record your information without your knowing, he can even lie saying that he isn't recording when he is, and all this is perfectly fine and legal. But you record a cop is a public area with a camera, and that is illegal. Police are suppose to work for the people, but once you tie their income to their tickets, corruption is going to follow.

Maybe we need to vote that all traffic tickets go to paying unemployment benefits.

  • I don't see the difference in using a security camera to catch a robber to filming a cop smashing someone's head in or acting unstable. Both are crimes. We finally have the technology to film police brutality and racial profiling for proof and now they want to throw us in jail for it. Aren't we being upright law abiding citizens if we catch cops breaking the law? That's us fighting against criminals am I wrong?

  • If you really want to better protect yourself and your rights check out PomCam dot com The site does something to help us protect ourselves. Finally we can do something.

  • If Johnny Law comes to put me in jail for using my shitty phone features, I'll pop him right in the fuckin' mouth.

Also, Cops need to be accountable as much or more than the rest of us... remember those experiments w/ students playing security guards and inmates? Remember how they needed to stop it within 24 hours because of violations to human rights, and general mistreatment of the 'inmates'?

People let power get to their heads fast. Especially pigs :3

  • Aww not the glass guy again...

  • Everyone can agree cops can go suck a nut, being allowed to video tape these is beneficial for both cops and people

  • the cops don't want any evidence to be obtained to prosecute them..the case should be thrown out..this is now wiretapping..the definition of wiretapping hasn't changed..this is not wiretapping..corrupt cops and prosecutors

  • @xadam2dudex its like soviet russia. the prices are too high. and polices are douches.

  • No, no, no, dude, it's Fuck the Police!

  • so if I'm driving by a crime scene and I hear what is said by the police officer is that air tapping?

  • Hobbes never said how we police the police... now with youtube/ the internet we have the power to police the police...

  • Shees how much tyranny will this society takes before it wakes up and realizes it has been robbed of their souls? Basically this is what is happening in this country..the human race has become looked upon as a mass produced product..we have become expendable in this country..and people better wake up soon cos as things progress and technology is advanced these tyrannts are steadily using it all to opress and exterminate us.Instead of raising families and living a good life they want us opressed

  • Thing is, if it's the person being pulled over, it should not be allowed because the police might not know what it is. But any bystander should be allowed to, so long as they don't get in the way of the cop. Don't forget how dangerous their job is, people!

  • it SHOULD NOT EVER BE A CRIME to video tape in public!!!!!

COPS SHOULD BE HAPPY TO GET VIDEO TAPED. why?

because they get to show off all there good work and how they keep things thogether... right? right?

  • @thewhulk I get what your going at, cops dont wanna get caught doing what they do. wink wink.

    Suspicion much?

  • Cops are criminals and video taping them means being exposed to justice. Its as simple as that.

Why do you think whenever theres a cop scene, theres always backup to hold back the crowd....or should i say witnessess. heck why do you think they put up that yellow tape? So they can falsify the evidence and when the examiners come....and you get the drift.

get it yet people? wink wink ;).

  • @thewhulk you'd think

  • i second peterpotpie

  • "yes of course thats obvious" wow... never thought i would see so many fallacies in one vid

  • @roboboxA

Be careful with statements like "where this would never happen". There once was a time in the US where one could say the same thing...

  • Cops should be video taped where ever, and whenever possible. Police brutality is a fact. We all know some cops will lie if they need to, but the video tape doesn't...

    Protect yourself.

  • /watch?v=4EcVmoZTaiY

  • @chrychek This is how we videotaped the cops raiding the man who cures cancer with hemp oil. Looks good on them too.

  • There is never any expectation of privacy in a public area. People can photograph or videotape you anywhere in public.

The police should never worry if they are being taped, because they are doing their jobs correctly. Taping what is happening is the only way to have a chance to protect yourself against a "professional witness" and capture exactly what really happened.

  • so if it's just the audio that makes it illegal, could he legally post it on the internet, just without sound?

  • How is it that the government can wiretap without a warrant, but private individuals can't watch the government? WTF?

  • Departments routinely audio/video record their officers and suspects with "dash-cams" which have both secured convictions, and other times ended law enforcement careers of brutal cops.

  • Wire Taping laws like that are important I don't want creeps just video taping me everywhere, and I know they use it against peeping toms. That said with the number of violations from police I believe taping incidents is a good thing and this seems to be in a very public venue, etc.

  • Audio licks balls. I have to crank up my speakers. By the way.. the reporter lady is gorgeous, I would give her an old creme pie any day of the week.

  • Ana, you look beautiful in this episode

  • How do shows like COPS or the road traffic ones work then?

  • how come it's legal for them to take pictures of me driving in order to give me tickets, but it's not legal for me to film them giving me tickets? police are meant to protect the people, not control them.

  • I don't think the police should have the option to withhold consent while in the line of duty. There needs to be a level of transparency in the government lest it become a police state (which it slowly is). Particularly as they videotape me with voice as they see fit, whether or not I consent. This may set a precedent.

  • Comment removed

  • If your going to blather for +3 min., at least answer the question you posed in the fucking video title!

  • TITLE SHOULD SAY BLAH BLAH BLAH, I DDNT LEARN SHIT FROM THIS

  • No it's not a crime to video tape a cop doing his or her job The.Brown shirts are trying to come up with something so people can stop putting them in jail for being criminals.

  • that guy is a straight up dumbass. does he think he's smart?

  • Ya know, the problem with all you people saying "fuck the cops" and "what are they afraid of ?" clearly have no experience in the law enforcement world. You have no idea the calibur of trash that they normally deal with so pardon them if they are a little jumpy and sometimes go beyond the boundaries of reasonable force. They do protect us from the scum of this earth and fuck you all for questioning their honor. As a whole, the police are a vital cog in the machine of decent society!!!

  • @Hall1263 I speak for the people that do not disrespect law enforcement, These brave men and women are deserving of every ones respect. But due to some rouge officers and corrupt officials some people just feel like they could do better. Which unfortunately not all officers are sound. And the cog in decent society?? Our society is far from decent and the sooner people address it the sooner we will be a decent society. Take Alabamaconfederacy for example he has free speech. But he is indecent.

  • I cant believe people cant see we are going into a criminal gov. Watch zeitgeist on utube and invisible empire and tell me were not bush is on one of them and he states he have to slowly get people used to this police state.. u can see it on utube.. the last thing we have to protect ourselves a fucking camera... when they filmed that cop shooting a handcuffed man... now its illegal.. come on wake up people its so obvious!!! how much are we going to take the bailout the border the loss of rights

  • @stopbeingcowards Well my friend I'm planning a massive march on washington hopefully next year. This year should give us time to make all the proper adjustments to get time off of work, school, ect. We need a date. Would you be willing to participate? Oh and If the gov doesn't give us what we want. We stop paying taxes. For we would be funding domestic terrorist. As if we aren't already. One Love not one gov bro.

  • Why are so many people obsessing over anna. She has the face of 12yr old jewish boy and she is clearly putting on weight. If want her so bad go to Martin Luther King Jr BLVD and pay her Jewish pimp $20 for 30 minutes.

  • @AlabamaConfederacy Wow your you are a pretty disgruntled human. I wish for your future development good luck with that.

  • @AlabamaConfederacy You need love. Do you care more about her or your country going to shit?....? think really hard about it. I'm willing to bet our country. So instead of insulting and trying to piss people off, why not spread truth and knowledge about how to get our country on the right track. Try not to be racist, I know that it will be hard for you, but our country can't take all this hate filled action any longer. One Love not one gov brother.

  • Like that time when a cop punched a girl in the face :O

  • no its not a crime to videotape a cop in a public place

  • 16 years in jail! Convicted pedophiles get less time then that for raping children.

It might be annoying to the police officer but who cares, they work for us anyway. If there not doing anything wrong they have nothing to fear and honestly I'll very willing to let it slide sometimes if they over hostile because, hey adrenaline does shit to people its one hell of a hormone.

But this is too much, we shouldn't have to quiver in fear and give oral to the police upon command. >.<

  • @SilentFishHeads Wouldn't be surprised if that's a new expectation.

    "License, registration, and open wide!"

  • 1:30 lol, wtf is that picture? Is that at all relevant?

  • If the cops arent doing anything wrong then they have nothing to worry about.

Isnt that what they tell us with all the public security cameras everywhere?

  • @EricIndiana Ya, why is it that the government can video tape us in public but we can't record them?

  • Fuck this, this is why i carry my HD Video Camera Everywhere....just in case i see some crooked ass cops

  • Honestly this replacement cenk guy(Ben) makes me want to unsubscribe.

    Thumbs up if you agree!!

  • If the officer is arresting you then ya put the camera down if he requests it, something like put your hands behind your back. If I was a third party and just taping it, and he asked me to put it down or stop I would say, No thank you officer I choose not to.

    :P

  • What happen to the other host?

  • I'm really just stating the obvious..but, I'm pretty sure that 8/10 pricks that join law enforcement aren't even aware, or don't give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut that they are a public servant of the community...you know... to "protect and serve" not to "punish and enslave for our own fucking amusement."

But I do give credit to those 2 out 10 cops who aren't racist, or sexist, or psychopathic monsters and actually join to do a good and fair job.

  • @markman99

.. true .. but bad things happen in clusters, and there are certain jurisdictions, like Maricopa County, that have huge clusters of bad cops, while other jurisdictions are relatively professional ..

  • @markman99 Where do you get those stats from Markman? Can you provide the study in which those numbers were proven?

  • They're just scared that when we video tape them being the pigs they actually are, they will be sitting their asses at home wishing for some stupid thing that they did from the video a couple months later.

  • The police love recording when they control the recordings. They hate when people have evidence of their crimes.

  • Cops should have video cameras taped on their heads. That's accountability.

  • @CosmicSeaman I think San Jose just started to . Thats not to say that some footage may "accidently" become lost. Fuckers!!!

  • @CosmicSeaman In the UK many of them have them built into their headgear.

It is one society that has come to rely on ccv footage extensively in public areas. It's very effective.

  • WTF? What wire is being tapped? It's a recording of a public place, not a private residence

  • America is a fascist country, and thus it acts accordingly.

  • @1mediaseeker hey its ok as long as we protect the status quo

  • @1mediaseeker Better facism than anarchy.

  • @TheCrazyFinn

No, the government has twisted the definition of anarchy.

Anarchy is a system where there is no central ruler and the locals can decide what is best for them.

It does NOT mean chaos and mayhem.

    Monarchy = rule by one

Oligarchy = rule by the elites

Anarchy = none of the above

I'll take anarchy over fascism any day!

  • @888music I know exactly what anarchy means. It tends to fail, much like communism. It should work in theory, since the ideology is perfect, unfortunately humans are not.

  • @TheCrazyFinn

Anarchy is nothing like communism. The only time it fails is when people get suckered into collectivism or get defeated by warmongers.

  • @888music Dumb fuck. It fails, as does communism. Both theoretically should work, but don't. I never said those two ideologies had anything in common. Communism tends to be operated like a facist dictatorship.

  • @TheCrazyFinn

Give one example where anarchy has failed.

Or just call me names, that's probably easier.

  • @1mediaseeker I wonder how the victims of gas chambers would feel to that. You have never lived under fascism moron.

  • @oodlesofosz Not necessarily the same kind of Fascism. Like everything else in this universe, it is relative.

  • @1mediaseeker Yeah, so stay the fuck out..

  • @1mediaseeker riiiight

  • i see my camera phone as a safety device for myself and family. Police can be intimidating and you should be able to 'defend' yourself so you dont get stuck in a he said she said argument and also so a judge doesnt automatically believe the police from the get go

  • JIMMY JUSTICE!!

  • @Craigster45

Is it true that Bloomberg tried to ban video cameras in NYC because of Jimmy Justice and others?

  • It is not wiretapping to film someone in a public place.where you have no expectation of privacy. Wiretapping would be if you put a hidden camera in someones home and filmed them without permission. It's so hypocritical that the government films us in public everywhere we go but we can't film them. It should be the other way around. It should be illegal for the government to have cameras in public places and it should be and is legal for us to film the government in public places.

  • the police just want to protect themselves from being exposed as the crooks they are. They're nothing more then gang members in uniform. I hope they know that the government is putting fluoride in they're water too and that they're also being ejected with mercury through the vaccines. And they're children are going to have to grow up in the world they're creating and one day they're going to ask them what they were doing when the fascist state came into power and I don't envy them on that day

  • Most of the time, the cops are crooked and they are good at editing tape and other devices. That way, they'll know to frame you up. As I say like others. FUCK DA POLICE!

  • Wire tapping ? That is total B.S. !

The law should be, that police be taped @ all times... for there own protection... of course !

  • Support our Dreamers...urge senators to pass the DreamAct Now!

  • Are you guys Turkish?

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED The only Turkish person is Cenk. "Young Turks" is a play on words, referring both to the founder's heritage (Cenk), and the Young Turks were some kind of progressive rebellious movement in Turkey, so they're calling themselves progressive and rebelling against the status quo, and because most of the people on TYT are relatively "young", as in, under 40. At least they were when it started. I think Cenk might be pushing 40 right about now.

  • @DiverseLA They sound Turkish when they speak?..

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED No, they don't.

  • @DiverseLA Well if their not Turkish why do they sound American?

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED Your questions don't make sense. The lead host from the show is Turkish. Everyone isn't. They were all born or raised in the US.

  • @DiverseLA Well if their not all Turkish? (except the one guy) why are they called "The young Turks?" but look Turkish but sound American?..

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED I already explained to you why they're called "The Young Turks" when you first asked.

  • @DiverseLA I'm confused. The Turks got some good hash!

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED Yeah and I think you've smoked too much of it.

  • @DiverseLA Me three...?

  • @DAZEOFTHESTONED Sure.

  • yep he does suck the big one. wers the man at. o msnbc. cool that' what you need to tune into now.

  • Of course filming cops should be illegal! It would cause all sorts of problems like... like... uuuuuhhh...uuuumm...... uuuuuuhhh... you know, stuff and junk.

  • This GUY is Creepy...not sure Why....

  • if cops can tape us, why cant we tape them?

  • If the cops who Tasered Robert Djiekansky to death weren't videotaped, no one would have known the truth because they would have lied on their reports and said that he wa s resisting arrest.

  • He was pulled over by an off duty policeman in an unmarked car, who was not in any uniform, cut the motorcycle off on an off ramp, pulled out his pistol pointed it at him, never said he was an officer, just demanded he get off the bike, when the patrol car came, he quickly put his gun away so the other officer, or other officers police camera would not see it. He was not arrested for wiretapping law until after he went home and posted it on youtube.

  • They should tell the story how it actually went.

He was ticketed and released. He later posted the video and than the police arrested him for wiretapping.

  • what the fuck? the government can wiretap our phones when we are in our homes and spy on us on private property, but if they break the law in PUBLIC we cant video tape them? fuck the police, i know its been said millions of times but i mean it, i fucking hate cops

  • the police work for us. we pay them to protect us. "this call may be monitored for quality assurance." it should be assumed upon taking the job that we will be checking up on them. PERIOD.

  • @leloodallasmultipass Now you know why I TRULY hate paying taxes...

  • @leloodallasmultipass

the police use to watch over the people now they are watching the people

    love that quote

  • I was the 666th like rating. Woop woop!

  • why would it be a crime to video tape a public servant

  • Well, video evidence isn't worth that much when used against cops.

Johannes Mehserle, a cop that executed Oscar Grant at BART train station in Oakland, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Not first-degree or second-degree murder. He'll spend less than four years behind bars. That's American justice for you.

  • The wiretapping laws are for private conversations, a public issuance of a ticket or during an arrest is not a private conversation. Recent cases have suggested that video taping cops has uncovered corruption and cover ups.

  • yeah geek dude sucks hes so boring, and has no personality

  • As I see it, it is the responsibility of any institution/group/individual with authority over the general public to justify itself via it's actions and application. If the police can't accept having their actions documented when on the job (especially when they're breaking the law), they don't deserve the authority they've been given.

  • Police are PUBLIC SERVANTS. the moment they put on that uniform they have no right to privacy. not only is it legal to video tape them, it should be commonplace to monitor police conduct. video taping an off duty cop at his home is another situation.

  • As long as you are not interferring with the officer or otherwise breaking a law I can't see how you can be charged with a crime. An overreaction by the state in this case.

  • @TheYoungTurksFan Servants is right and they better start acting like servants before everyone in this country picks up a WEAPON and kicks their sorry looking ass for being a bunch of PRICKS.

  • Would somebody get this stupid fool off this Channel no matter how you do it, HE SUCKS AND CAN'T SPEAK INTO HIS MIC, IT'S TERRIBLE TO LOOK AND HEAR THIS FOOL. You guys are going to LOSE YOUR AUDIENCE SOON BECAUSE OF THIS GEEKY LOOKIN DUMMIE!

  • Thats really screwed. Also another thing is if the cops are actually doing their jobs right, what is there to fear about camera phones and such. The whole thing trying to pass it off under the wire tap law is ridiculous as well. A police officer is a public servant position and any actions they take are pretty much public especially if they're pulling someone over on the side of the road. Its hardly a private encounter. It looks as if the state is trying to protect its unruly cops.

  • @MrFuhrer2009 It looks as if it is because it is.

  • @MrFuhrer2009

    well said :)

  • Fuck this shit! Fuck the Police! I'm going out to film me some police men molesting little girls right now, bust the fuckers ones and for all, VIVA LA REVOLÚCION!!!

  • so videotaping cops is illegal. what about pigs ?
