I don't doubt all the soldiers you want out. In fact, the two soldiers I spoke to voted Obama. Unfortunately, the soldiers we know aren't necessarily an accurate sampling of voting preferences. They voted McCain overwhelmingly.

I am a soldier and this nonsense about 70% for McCain is as accurate as the surge was the only reason we are winning in Iraq. Americans with the capacity for rational thought have finally made their voices heard. McCain tried to dumb down the economy, the war in Iraq, and energy (drill, baby drill!) but failed. McCain is spot on. Any veteran who has ever participated in a mass movement of troops and equipment knows safety is paramount. Obama's blind estimate of "one brigade a month" is a testament of his ignorance to military logistics, and it will get people killed. Not to mention leaving before the Iraqi's are ready will undermine all the work that has been done. If Obama wants my support, he needs to listen to the boots on the ground and not the suits in Washington.

That's the biggest accomplishment; relative peace in Anbar, Basra, Najaf, Diyala, and Kirkuk just to name a few is truly remarkable. And to be fair, our government isn't creating mass graves of political enemies, gassing citizens in entire states, cutting off limbs of criminals, and executing religious leaders. You completely missed my point. But it doesn't matter; I'm not trying to debate the validity of the Iraq war. I am talking about a safe withdrawal. Obama made his plan without talking to one single commander on the ground in Iraq. Luckily, it seems that Obama doesn't keep his promises, so hopefully he reconsiders and actually works with commanders in Iraq to devise a safe and sensible withdrawal plan rather than a hip-pocket "sounds great politically" plan.
