Wow the people who comment on this video are idiots, obviously if you use dry wood it's going to burn. Which is why he said to use "new" wood, reffering to green wood, fresh off of trees, it'll last about 15-20 minutes if kept above the flames, pleanty of time to cook most foods. You can even replace the wood if you're that paranoid.
Good idea, I have used this myself. There's always an abundance of willow by streams and rivers, but other green wood can be used. Don't get discouraged, young man, you're doing well. Well done!
Dont agree with you bro.. u gotta show that the sticks aint gonna burn up!! ... Think of another idea.....
How about takin a piece of meat , making a hole thru its longitudinal axis, and sticking a piece of long wood like your grills that you showed, and puttin it across the fire on 2 stones... That way the fire is not gonna burn the stick inside the meat, but gonna BBQ the Meat Instead.. Which is cool.. n what we want...
Obviously you know nothing about outdoor cooking NO FIRE just Coles very hot Coles
So you can cook using the green sticks as a grill
All thought you need to remove the bark first
That is where all the mold and bacteria are
Man ya know I just wish we could put all you people that do nothing but write all the - comments on a plain with almost no fuel and fly you all over the mountains or over the ocean
LOL, that will be gone soon. Whats funny is you can boil water in a leaf though! Try it find a huge leaf and try it, that's the beat survival technique.
hey kid im 11 and btw i want you to know DO NOT USE ANY OTHER WOOD USE LIKE OAK...SOME WOODS IF USED TO COOK WILL POISON AND KILL YOU !!!!so be safe please
Keep the sticks moistured (Don't pour water on it that will put the fire out. Pretty obviously) or get them higher of ground. And hunteddown848 not to be an asshole but this video is kinda ridiculous. If you got the fire and the food you do not need a grill there's many ways to cook it. And most people would just use the most simple way. Using a stick to pierce trough the meat and then cook it over the fire. And if you got to leave it, just give it something to lean on fx a rock.
@hunteddown848does not matter cus there gonna collapse if you want your fire to be close enough to the meat or whaterer ur cooking the sticks are gonna warm up two and eventually egnite and break
There are 7 sticks :)

it's simple, you have to cook with the hot coals, not with the actual fire. that willl work.

Anybody who thinks this will work deserves to die. Obviously the live branches will burn if you get a fire that is hot enough to cook food with.

you could raise the sticks up a lot higher and use it as a smoker, but if you have the sticks that close to the flames, they will catch fire and burn

this is why we use live, green sticks
