You know USMCG0811, to you a movie has to have just three things, 1-Vulgarity, 2-Not a feel good movie, and 3-Nudity. So this is one movie that you should not care about. So, go back to your bars, and other places that you slink into. We, the people who care about the movie, either being in it as extras, or helped with the movie in other ways, do care. Just do us a favor, please dont go see it. Thank you
Hey, USMCG0811. Have you taken a moment to look up the budget on the first S&S? What they are able to do with so little money IS the production value. Learn a bit more about movie-making before slamming a film. I also didn't realize vulgarity was essential for a war film. Sorry you are so disappointed that their film didn't reach your low expectations of typical predictability. I hope you pass on the film. Wouldn't want to have to quote a "saintly" scripture about pearls before swines.
As a active duty member of the Army serving in a Combat Arms MOS with multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, you could say I have a singular insight into the mind of a Soldier in combat. Predictability you say? Quite the opposite; point in fact. S&S was highly predictable with a contrived story, bad acting, and horrendous SFX. If you're going to portray such a monumental event as this, you can at least get some elements correct. Especially those easily done below budget.
The first S&S screamed terrible production values. It was a B movie at best with bad acting, non-existent SFX, and a horrid plot. It was a A feel-good film about a small group of soldiers who were so saintly that they never uttered a single obscenity. Judging from the trailer alone, this one doesn't seem any different. Pass.
It's obvious my point was lost on you as as was grammar school. There, I countered your ad-hominem with my own. Happy? They try to invoke today's sensabilities on a time that they have absolutely no connection to or understanding of. Your inability to counter my argument is rather clear. Loads of foul language and CGI chicks as you put it? I don't recall asking for such things. Try again.
@USMCG0811 write your story, turn it into a script, make a budget, find financing, make a shooting schedule, contract big time actors, get the greatist CGI-SFX on board, get it scored, add sound editing, get it edited/formatted, find an honest distributor, get it rated, put it on the market.....
then wait for guys like you on youtube to make silly little comments.......fun.
Again, you seem to have missed the point. Asking someone that is critical of something to simply "do it themselves" is a typical avoidance tactic. A moronic one at that. A great film, whatever it's genre or story, can be produced on a limited budget which has been proven time and time again. Monsters was shot on a budget under 425k with the SFX done utilizing Adobe. It comes off far more professional than S&S which exceeded a million to produce.
It is evident that Fred5612 does not know the history of the Airborne or understand it. I know for a fact that @apcogear worked on the set as military advisor for not only this film but for the first Saints and Soldiers movie. And you need to work on your vocabulary. Being a 20 year vet, I can say that yes, even the street cleaners need to be recognized for their work. Just wait for the movie and see for yourself then judge.
Oh wait let me guess the theme, American soldiers being heores. How original, I think I'll put it in my stack of "American servicemen being heroes", together with sailors, pilots, guardsmen and fucking street cleaners.
@Fred5612 other than your being an obvious baffoon who's small mind relies on vulger language to make a point because his intellect and vocabularyt is so limited,.... the plot may surprise you.
@apcogear Keeping true to my nature of " obvious baffoon", I must remind you that the movie hasn't come out yet, hence, if you can tell me how surprising the plot is you either work on the set as a politeness instructor or you are a time traveler from a distant future. I have to admit that my "vocabluaryt" is quite limited, considering I have only one jar of the lovely Russian recipe left. Thank you for reminding me, I am on my way to buy more.
@MikeLowrey1983 The end of the trailer had the same movie theme as "Saints and Soldiers." I kept watching that movie over and over and finally realized it was because I liked the music so much, so I bought the sound track. Awesome music!
@eviola11 actually the original saints and soldiers doesnt get talked about too much but it was pretty good. definately not a nock off of band of brothers i hope this is different as well. if you look to the right there is a link to the first mov ie
outfits look way too clean, come on people its war! you dont people in saving private ryan with nice clean uniforms, there dirty and gritty to make it more realistic
@JoeLadleyCoolDude Actually I belong to a WWII Airborne living history group and these airborne units in this movie were not out for weeks at a time where they would be so grungy. Saving Private Ryan was regular army... they were walking all the time. Airborne jumped right into battle so it took them awhile to get messy. And remember, this is a trailer. If you see the movie, there will be plenty of dirt and grit... give the film a chance.
I think they are in the 509th Pib in this movie. Look at the arm flag its on the left shoulder. Film probably takes place in Southern France or Italy.
@mastermike95 They are the 517th airborne... they didn't wear shoulder patches. This was operation Dragoon where the airborne dropped in to help the 36th ID push the Germans out of southern France. Most of the Germans had already moved out of the area to fight at Normandy.
Can't wait!!! I absolutely loved the first movie can't wait to to see the 2nd and third (this one) visit saintsandsoldiers2(dot)com.
There will be 2 Saints and Soldiers movies released next year!! The first one is Saints and Soldiers 2: The Void probably the sequel (no trailer yet) . The second one is Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed most likely a prequel (because it has deacon). 2 movies in one year!!!
Visuals are awesome. Germans are the traditional bad guys--but look terrific. Music is getting a little old. All war films seem to have the same music director.
Ya im so happy
