  • this was the epic song that got me into The Kinks, yeah!

  • Comment removed

  • this is the first time i have ever heard this song by the kinks, they are freakin epic! long live 60's rock and roll!

  • Vocal Point is doing this song tonight on The Sing Off.

  • Love this song!!

  • infatti si vede da come lotti sembri proprioun bufalo

  • If these younger dudes and dudettes were teenagers during this era! They have no idea what they missed out on!

  • se salen estos tios temazo

  • It's amazing how he says "side", for some reason! Lol!

  • it was the title that brought me here. i thought it was new. van halen made this their song.

  • QUE PUTO VIDEO MAS MEDIOCRE. RAY Y DAVE SEGURO TE DARIAN UNA PATADA EN EL TRASERO. LA ROLA: +1000. EL "VIDEO": -1 000 000

  • de la ptm los primeros 15 segundos xD

  • FREAKIN AMAZING!!!! YOU DIDN'T THINK THIS SONG WAS LOVED? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN????

  • Manta Manta soundtrack ;)

  • One of the coolest rock songs!

    Yeah!

  • You Really Got Me - The Kinks [London, England] - 1964 - "No.07 on 10/24/1964. 10 weeks Top 40. AMG pick. This is their signature song. One of their BEST." - The Ep Collection [02/10]: Kinksize Hits.

  • And let's not forget Shel Talmy, the producer, who pulled the whole thing together.

  • there only good song according to my dad :P

and he was as mod as the next man

  • now a days there is NO band capable of making hits like this.

  • One of my alltime favorite songs, in my opinion, the opening is the greatest in recording history...what the Kinks did with the instruments they had is unbelievable...I never get tired ot this masterpiece....

  • Wersja dr Huckenbusha o niebo lepsza!

  • i miss band like this!!! 60's rules!!!!!!

  • I'm in a band that covers this tune in the Charlotte area. This is a great tune.

  • did you know that the first two notes of this song was produced by the guitarist shredding his amp speaker with a razor

  • Desperate for a new sound, he slashed the speaker cone with a razor blade, shredding the material. After that crude motivation, the little amp sounded fuzzy, distorted, nasty. It sounded like what it was; an amp was falling apart. That little sonic experiment might have gone unnoticed by the rest of the world, but Davies' older brother, Ray, had written a catchy little song called "You Really Got Me" on the family piano. Dave played the riff through his little green amp.

  • It's one of ROCK'S GREATS !

  • I was in the sixth grade when this song first came out, and I thought it was the greatest. Forty-six years later, it still makes me stop, sit up and listen.

  • I prefer this---the Kinks are almost proto-punk. Don't believe me? Check out the similarity between this and Sheena Is A Punk Rocker.

  • @nmatavka this surely is the origin of punk - the same ethos in those, loud, simple, just whatever we can do.

  • Morgan and Rob love this song Classik !

  • this song is like, B E A S T.

    :D

  • 14 don't like ?! It's not posible !

  • We in the US Invented Rock & Roll so we certainly give them a run for the money !

  • Van Halen is stupid for trying to remake this.

  • @MrBadzooka Kinks OWN this ! owwww love it !

  • 14 people don't know what music is.

  • vivan los enemigos!

  • Bellissimi!!!

  • Umm, Guess who is more popular than Van Halen ... well Spice Girls, Britney Spears, perhaps even Mr Bieber himself. So they MUST be superior to Van Halen, according to the logic shown on some of these comments.

Besides lads and lassies, arguing over which version of a song is best is retarded, so best just give it up and enjoy the music you enjoy.

  • This song was in the movie Night Shift

  • Just diggin' that voice man.

  • @GrimDrawings just be quiet with this nonsense. I heard the van halen version and its trash. Just another garbage kinks cover. The original is always the best and this trumps any shit song VH came out with.

  • I love this, but just my opinion, i like the VH version a lot more, although this is still good.

  • when I listen to it I loled because it's a awesome song :D

  • MOD MOD WE ROOCCCK

  • better than van halen's

though van halen's was still good

  • @boo8361

im sure van halen would agree with you

  • Shes really got me!

  • count down to d hour 5 hours remaining (my friend and i are going to tp and destory a random house

  • Yeeeeeah!

  • if you like this so see the movie The boat that rocked. its pirat radio in the 60 (in england) :)

  • This is so gggoood! Really gets me going!

  • Ray Davies, best songwriter. Lyrics at the drop of a hat.

  • im 53 and have seen them singing this live !!! Annete England

  • after this song the drummer hit Davies in the head with the hi hat, giving him16 stitches. they told the coppers it was a stage act where they throw their instruments at each other.live at Australia.

  • Definitely the best of the "British invasion" bands.

  • Listen to them most weeks

  • absolute killer choooooon!!! good things

  • i love this song... it's amazing... fantastic

  • Lol nycc

  • why talking Beatles??

They have not, not to do with this!

    This is the kings..................

  • AWESOME LOVE THIS GRUNGIE SHED ROCK......... you've made my day :)

  • David Lee Roth is a forgotten carnival barker and cannot touch the raw sexuality of the Kinks' version of this song.

  • amazing this song is truly amazing :D

  • gzietzu

  • Their underrated becuase they were overshadowed by The Bealtes in the mid 60's. However, I agree that they were an amazing band and I believe that they were nearly as good or equal to the Beatles.

  • @yaidontthinkso the beatles where good and more happy sounding, with really well writen songs. just compare this song to Eleanor rigby and you'll see my point. in skill they where generaly equal.

  • first hard rock song isnt it?

  • @Kakaxxx222 I was twelve and eating up all the British invasion stuff when I first heard this record and I knew I was listening to something different. Yes, in a way this was the first hard rock record, with Davies' hard edged vocals and the driving guitar line. If you ignore all the pop image stuff, listen to Paul Revere and the Raiders do "Just like me" (about a year later) Mark Lindsay's vocals have that same edge

  • exelent!

  • goosebumps !!!

  • Unbelievably, they're STILL one of the most underrated groups of all time....

  • This kicks ass!!

  • i like this song. from which year is it??

  • 1964.

  • Arthur Lee and Ray Davies were the leaders not the sell outs.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • THIS SONG RULES! especially this ver

  • per me questa è la prima canzone Hard Rock, incredibilmente il pezzo è del 1964!!!!! sono (i Kink's) i fratelli maggiori dei Deep Purple e dei Led Zeppelin, i padri fondatori del genere....

  • hail the kinks!

  • what a brilliant song! long live the kinks! :)

  • o god thank you for all the comments!

i didn't think that this song was loved from all this people wooow

  • @Acquamarina89 now u know!!! :D

  • @Acquamarina89 Loved it in the 60's still do. It can play in my head all damn day long.

  • does anybody know the title of a song from THE KINKS that says "it's really good to see you rocking out and having fun, living life you've just begun, accepting life and what it brings, i know tomorrow you'll find better things"??? i just can't find it. thanks.

  • Better Things

  • thanks a lot!!

  • you are welcome

  • true

  • Please bear in mind that the Kinks version was recorded in 1964. At that time this was the rowdiest and raunchiest riff anywhere.

  • takes me back to when i was a teenager

  • hummmanuh hummmanah hummmanah hummmanuh

  • it rocks. and dudes in the 30's till 50's it was more of blues

  • every video i watch then scroll to the comments i see people throwin insults around or arguein! so fuck you assholes haha

  • forever kinks

  • jimmy page played the rhythm guitar in the studio version

  • I heard he played the lead guitar. I'm quite sure it's him who did the solo

  • Dave Davies did the solo :)

  • I'm talking about the album version of the song. In the studio, they took a studio musician who began to be known to do the solo : Jimmy Page. I'm sure about that

  • lol what a cool name, dave davies!

  • Davey Dave! He was a damn good guitarist too.

  • behave

  • this song is the bestest!

and the green screen just makes it even better! :D

  • this band is the real face of rock

  • The Best Kinks Ever 24/7

  • god this is the best vid ever th kinks rock

  • Fuck yes. :)

  • TRULY BRILL! Its like a combination of The Who and The Beatles!

  • mmm thankyou kinks

  • This band and their songs were inspiration for black sabbath, Iron Maiden, and many goups of punk, metal, hard rock all over the world. Thanx The Kinks.

  • van helen is one of those boring american guitarist with just plastic soul. getting most ideas from hendrix.

  • doesnt mean that he didnt take any tricks from hendrix does it, so who was van helen influenceed by??

  • No.... You are so ignorant and ill-informed...

Will a little research hurt you??????

EVH cites Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Brian May, Allan Holdsworth and Ronnie Montrose.

Also he said about Jimi Hendrix..

"I haven't seen Jimi Hendrix perform and I don't think he is the greatest ever...Allan Holdsworth can play rounds around him".

SO JUST DONT MAKE YOUR OWN ASSUMPTIONS !

  • he said he didnt relly like any music except olf 40s rock the only music he relli liked was his own he said it a bunch of times in interviews

  • there was no such thing as rock in the 40's

  • lol im stupid i meant the 50's

  • but there was R&B in the late 40's which was one of EVH's influences and it branched out into rock in the 50's

  • What assumptions would you have us make but our own? Who are you to tell us not to think on our own. We have freedom of speech in this country, therefore, you have not any right to tell any other human being what assumptions we can and cannot make!

  • man what a great time and movement,i would've loved to be about then

  • There is nothing better than English rock.

  • @789123Y: I personally prefer American rock, but yeah.

  • @inkubusse Well, let's just say all the old rock :D

  • @789123Y: Hell yeah! Ahh, those were the times (when I wasn't born yet). :D Damn...

  • Im sorrY but this is the best verson bY far

  • shut up, this owns halen shit

  • Whatever. This version has character. The timre and expression is so much more deep than Van Halen's flashy boasting solos. The Kinks helped invent the punk genre with their brilliant minimalism. Van Halen is all flash and sterilized.

  • @eut256 The original is always the best!

  • I LOVE THIS SONGG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually, this is the best solo ever.. No distortion or effects.. Just pure guitar. No one dares today to play "pure" anymore... These guys invented rock´n noice without any effects!! PPPFF!!

  • It's not clean guitar

  • god i hate music sometimes, great song!

  • Infinity plus one times better.

  • best song ever made!
