I don't think we'll ever see extravagance like this again. Dior's heading a mundane direction now that Galliano is gone. I'm aware there's Lagerfeld but in terms of bravado & folie John was truly the last of the mohicans.
@billybeau83 Agreed. It is sucha shame that his private and personal issues caused him to be exiled from the fashion world. I understand that he was in a very dark period in his life. It saddens me that we will never see such exquisite, decadent fashion like this again. It almost breaks my heart.
@javajunkie101 Reports here at the time of the scandal revealed Galliano had been in a very bad place since the death of his creative partner & best friend(sorry I can't remember his name & may he r.i.p) and that he had been neglecting his work. The atelier did most of the collections with or without him. Dior execs knew he was depressed but no one took the initiative to reach out to him or even shake him to his senses. What's also sad is that the whole situation could have been avoided. Sad..
@billybeau83 So sad. I believe his partner's name was: Steven Robinson. If I am wrong, please forgive me. Yes, the whole situation could have been avoided, but it is what it is. I hope John can find inner peace and make a comeback. However, I am naive to the workings of the fashion world. Whether this world will accept him back is another story. We have lost a creative genius and a legend...but I hope not for long.
