  • help! just got mine... ac adapter isn't american... i think its hong kongs!

How do you power your KP3?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @DraconumPB How do you get the output sound from the kp3 to speakers?

  • Can i hook this up to my mixer with my CDJs and use it live?

  • @Noobtron3000 Well, you can= use audio cables (With the colored ends and a headphone jack) and plug one end in the LINE OUT or the other in the HEADPHONE OUTPUT (Depending on your mixer) and you can change the volume and stuff of the KP3 or you can do the opposite by using the same cables and in the LINE OUT or HEADPHONE OUTPUT put the cables in and put the opposite end in the KP3 so you can modulate the sound coming out of the mixer to your satisfaction. Hope this helped.

  • Music - Good

    DJ - Inexperienced

  • Music - Good

    Quality - BAD !

  • did you make that track?

  • I hear many people think this piece of gear is exclusively used in trance, thats bullcrap, its used abundantly in Dark Electro and Industrial/Industrial-Metal too

  • its used in a lot of stuff.

  • above and beyond are amazing

  • how would i hook a kp3 to a microkorg? MIDI cables? or audio in input?

  • About connecting korg mk and kp3: depends what you want to do with it. Both audio input and midi can be used. Just a matter of other cables in other holes :)

  • You can run anything through them, lol. It's just that if you want to mess with sampling you really need something with a constant tempo.

A lot of songy music lets the tempo slide around for effect. It's a good thing

  • anyone who calls trance "regular music" maybe should not buy one of these.

  • "why cant i find anyone with this thing that plays regular music. dam this music drives me crazy."

    what is regular music???

  • Comment removed

  • oh my goodness im dying

  • obviously not 'dance' stuff.

  • YOU drive me crazy... get the fuck out of here.

    This is trance equipment.

  • Johnny greenwood radiohead

  • How much is this?

  • I'm hoping to buy a KP3 pad to remix techno songs. Can you connect an mp3 player to the KP3?

  • Yes you can!

  • Cool! What kind of speakers would you recommend to get to go along with the KP3?

  • Sorry about the same message loads, it wouldnt send then it sent loads of times :(

  • hey mate, i've got a kaoss pad 3 & an electribe, but im really stuck on how to connect them together and use the pad as a filter for the electribe. i've got two midi cables, but they just confuse me. any help?

    xo

  • ..... uhm, did you try using audio cables?

While technically it's possible for you to control the electribe's built in filter using the KP3 in MIDI mode, that would be an insane amount of work compared to simply using the KP's filter. Run the output from the Electribe into the input on the Kaoss pad...

  • yes you can

  • very nice: i may need to get one of these, can u mix live music with it? example: keyboard, drums?

  • Well, not really. It's NOT a mixer. I think that's a big misconception. It has TWO (2) audio inputs but only one is usuable at a time, so you can't really 'mix' multiple inputs like you can with an actual mixer.

What you can do is give it an audio feed and it will work with the audio coming into it. Not sure if that's what you meant.

  • you can use a mixer post your normal mixer and do it that way. i got my kaosilator and mpc going into it i just gta pick ONE at a atime

  • Just a quick question can you sequence drums using this?

  • It's not a sequencer. i.e. you can't set up pre-programmed patterns. You CAN load up to four loops simultaneously into it, each of which can be 16 beats/4 measures long. But these are simply WAV file loops, not MIDI sequenced drums.

If you want to sequence stuff, I suggest the Electribe (also by KORG).

  • what kind of sound card do use to connect the pc the kp3

  • it IS a soundcard, you can just do alot more features on it. (in english yes it is, a mixer is a soundcard if you can say that, just got features)

  • It's not actually a soundcard... I have it connected to my PC via simple audio cables (i.e. composite). I'm using a seperate, external soundcard (M-Audio FastTrack) which my DJ software (Virtual DJ) is running on.

  • lemme clarify this a bit. A soundcard is something that processes audio for your PC, taking the load off of the CPU. That means that it's either installed directly inside your PC, or it's connected via USB or firewire (or some other means). While the KP3 has a USB connection, it doesn't function as a soundcard, the same way that the audio hardware on your motherboard, for example, does. The USB connection is strictly for accessing the SD slot.

  • the usb connection can also be used for MIDI over USB, useful for using it as a controller for pc applications

  • Oh man I want one! Question is, is it worth the steep price?

  • I f@#$%ing love this thing. It'll be with me at every gig I do, guaranteed. While it doesn't look sometimes like it does alot, having a highly versatile effects box and loop sampler can be useful at times when nothing else will do exactly what's needed. It's simply the versatility to be able to add it to any setup that makes it worth it. I've used it to add effects to sets done on my PC as well as on CD decks. It's probably one of the things I've been most glad I've bought. :)

  • thx dude!

  • I had a question figured this is a good place to ask it with all you samplers here, I am looking to get similar sound effects you would hear Slipknot play (good example is "pulse of the maggots")....I have a yamaha PSR 540 keyboard which is great for standard keys, but I am looking for those extra sound effects and hopefully something that I can ru my keyboard through and distort it....would the KP3 do that for me? Thanks in advance.

  • I don't know anything about slipknot, but you could run some type of audio device, be it a computer, a keyboard, or other type of synthesizer/drum machine/cd player/etc through the KP3 and activate effects on it. Though, it's really intended for live effects that are changing and dynamic. It sounds like you probably don't need something with quite as much functionality as this has, more like just a simple effects box.

  • thanks man, I ended up getting the mini kaoss pad and it was perfect for what i needed.

  • yeah, my question is about the vocoder in it.

    It says:

    Vocoder

    Vocoder M7

Is the M7 for minor 7th, or is it a different vocoder setting?

And, is the pitch of the vocoder able to be controlled from an external midi keyboard?

If so, how many voices? (polyphony)

  • I'm not sure if that's what the M7 means, but that sounds about right. (I don't have a lot of experience with Vocoders so I am not sure if I could tell the difference between different types). And no, the pitch can't be controlled seperately.. well, sortof. It is strictly based on the XY position on the pad. You can control THAT remotely, but it doesn't correspond to keyboard keys.

  • you can get 'em for about $400. It really is a useful peice of kit.

  • Whats the best kaoss pad availiable at the moment?

    is it this Kp3?

  • yup.

  • 1 of my friends has 1 of these; pretty cool stuff! =)

  • hah sweet. kaoss pads are kpro.

wats the price range for these things?

  • hah sweet these things are pro.

    anyone no a price range?

    cheers.

  • i recorded that....but i got a.d.d and i couldent really sit still and there was kinda a glare so i had to move....but still pretty good

  • Nice one Drac yea the KP3 is a handy little tool that just gets better everytime you use it. Keep it up.

  • Ahh screw it I need to get the first one too

  • If I can't "find" that second track I'm going to have to ask for your "help" in "finding" it ;) Those kick effects you did worth it alone. Nothin' like rockin out on a system.. fuck!

  • You need a little practice before AC, I think, but you got some awesome stutter effects out of that little session. Fits you perfectly ^_^

I'm wondering what you'll be able to do synth-wise in FL with that nice piece of hardware.

  • Nice...makes me wanna get one :p
