This was always going to happen, an Oldfield and Anderson collaberation. Two slightly unhinged musical geniuses who sometimes confuse self indulgence with artistic endeavour.
This song is excellent and it reminds me of sci-fi, shows and sci-fi films such as, Blake's 7, Dr Who, Star Maidens, Star Wars, Battle Galactica, Fireball XL5 and also Space 1999 it is so good in every way.
I normally think Anderson's voice is superb but hearing it here with the video makes him look simple-minded and he sounds an idiot. Give me Maggie Reilly any day, with Mike Oldfield.
this song just overflows with joy and relaxation.mike and jon are a pairing that just works it is a pleasure to hear a piece of music devoid of stupid attitude.plus the guitar solo just sends shiver down my spine.thanx yesmuseum
This song is, for me, a prove of men´s ability to dream without interest in faults of a woman. This is about admiration, love and pure readiness to fulfill "all of you need and you desire"..Isn´t it great? :)
Lord alone knows if its listed on CD now. Great duo on it with Kevin Ayers, also a proper gravelly epic collaboration with Bonnie "1gallon of wine and 40 Marlboro" Tyler.
Awesome guitar solo! ^_^ In a later interview it was mentioned to Mike that Jon said he liked everything about this song except "the silly lyrics". Mike found that to be rather odd, as it was Jon who wrote the lyrics. ^_^
@DallasHammster: indeed one of oldfields greatest solos. pure 80s cheese (esp. mikeys homemade fairlight vci-video-clips), but musically there've been many more sins in that days. love the 12" of shine, it's less radio-oriented.
one of the best songs, played by one of greatest guitarist ever (in my opinion of course :-)
80's It was the time of the greatest musicians... nowadays I have big problem to find good young singers etc...
MTV is full of "artists" - not enough dressed girls with horrible voices, nothing special in their eyes... only plastic bodies are around 9 and 10 (from 1 to 10) and only that... :(
That's why I 've been watching only old good songs from 80's
This song just like a Pictures in The Dark was only on single or maxi single, and probably is enable on some compilation (I think... or in youtube :). That songs was made when i grow up (some years ago :) and I very good remember how I got them - from radio only - Poland in this years was a big black hole in music records stores, radio was a one and only source of music. Funny but I still remember how look cassettes where I record this songs :)
when i purchased this as a 15 year old in -86 it was just purrr-fect. the solo rocked hard then and it does now. but this was the 1st time ever i saw the video, it's a mix of corny and chic, very 80s. (oh and those who call this crap etc: you haven't been in love, or even just laid, for a long while have you. plus clearly you're not a musician. whoever you are, not saying any names. :-) have a nice day!) :-D
Anderson has a naturally high voice to be sure, like Gilbert O'sullivan and Neil Sedaka. There is absolutely no way these men's voices sound female - high voices yes but the timbre and quality of vocal is masculine.Nice video and locattions. Thanks.

My god, why, why why ?
What happened to such artist in the 80's ? And the sound of the drums ?
I definitely hate these MEGADISCO-REVERB years.

Mike's guitar looks like a Gibson SG X , with aTP-6 stopbar tail piece. Not sure about the bridge , anyone know what model he uses?
