i own a 98 2,2 vti vtec. live in norway and i nead a new gearbox to it.. to do that kinda thing in a shop here itll run me about 10 000 dollars. my only hope is to import from somewhere and maybe just pay fore the job or install it myself.. do anyone know how mutch a used overhauled or new gearbox cost in usa?

for the 5th Generation, 97-01 the most powerful engine is the 2.2L 16 Valve DOHC VTEC which is upped to 200 hp from 192 hp (in 4th gens).

The less powerful 2.3L engine is SOHC I believe.

DOHC/SOHC = Double/Single Overhead Cam, but u prol knew.

My opinion is you should look for a completely stock DOHC VTEC 5th gen or 4th gen Lude. They ARE around if you are patient.

And drive safely.

I'll post more as I learn more and if anyone can add info or clarify that would be cool.

I'll tell you what I know about the different choices of Ludes in general terms. I'm not an expert yet but I've learned a hell of a lot in the 6 months I've owned and been passionate about Ludes.

I personally prefer the 4th Generation, 1992 through 1996, because of the body style and particularly I like the 192 hp DOHC VTEC.

The 4th Gens are a lot lighter than the 5th Gens, even though that engine was upped to 200 hp for the 5th gens, 1997 through 2001.
