  • South Indian cooking relies heavily on tamarind, sorry Sanjay..I can't take this...

    what is another substitute? Buttermilk?

    thanks.

  • i didn't love tamarind either, its kinda a acquired taste, i would guess you could use any kind of juice like orange or mango. maybe coconut. :) i'm not really sure just putting it out there

  • @votejamie08 Some foods like tamarind if not used the right away can taste weird especially for people that don't know what a good tamarind pulusu should taste like. So don't give up until you try it out a few times. Also coconut doesn't make sense at all as a substitute. And orange is really weird, mango might be OK if it is sour enough but the best substitute might be lemon or lime juice.

  • Sorry tamarind is a main ingredient in south indian cooking and nothing can replace it.

  • @derubala not heavily... I don't know why you say that. But lemon juice might be the best substitute. The purpose of tamarind is to give sourness to the stew/pulusu.

  • amazing dish, 5*

  • Chef for some reason you look cuter in this last videos.... and thanks for the video.

  • My father's favorite dish..My mom makes it with Pesara Punugulu....

  • Fantastic Sanjay!! Thx for the posting.

  • i never thought of using a wooden spatula as a mini cutting board! cool trick & nice looking recipe... your videos make me want to become vegetarian because it can taste good too :)

  • @tabellariae vah chef has used the wooden spatula so that he does not damage the non stick pan. so that non stick pan is not scratched by the knife. good idea by him.

  • Great! I love your videos. Vegetarian indian food is the best! I love Dhal with rice, and a nice Naan bread on the side!
