a huge majority of prisoners are just products of their environment. most of them come from urban citys. shouldn't we put effort in changeing the environment in which they grew up in. if they were raised in a nice liitle house in the suburbs with both of their parents that actually showed them LOVE AND ATTENTION, i strongly doubt they would grow up to become criminals. but we just ignore the core issue and continue locking them up!

The two biggest companies that run these private prisons (Corrections Corporation of America & Wackenhut) make their money by trading their stock on Wall Street BASED ON THE NUMBER OF INMATES THEY ARE HOUSING.
