@peterscoop hahaha Scarface is one of the most overrated movies ever, after hearing abut how good it was for years, when I finally watched it, i was very disappointed, as I had been promised an O of top quality indica and instead I got some weak low grade mec. Come on man scarface is some hyped up media film, I'd put it next to Avatar.
Thanks Bro! Yes, a whole lot has changed with our family. All of my siblings are college graduates and our children are either graduated or attending college and are contributing positive things to society. I remember the Crazy Homicides and the Sex Boys...Rough customers!
It's sort of embarrassing, but my grand father started the Tomahawks and was the president. Then my father became the president of the Tomahawks years later.
@111mrfantastic - I remember the Tomahawks when I was a kid. they were a huge gang and feared by many people. If they started in the late 60's and your grandfather was the founder how could your father have been president in the 70's. Most of the Tomahawks were gone by the late 70's, early 80's.
@nycboyforlife Hmmmn! I may just have the dates wrong, rather I think you do. I'm pretty sure of what I said. I didn't grow up with my dad, but I was told this story by my grandma. When I finally did meet my dad again after many years in and out of prison both he and his dad told me the story and I have a very large family in Brooklyn that backed it up. My grand father was paralized because of it.
@111mrfantastic - Probably my bad on that one. Didn't mean to doubt your story. I think Tomahawks must have lasted into the 80's. I lived on the side of East New York near Highland park which was Sex Boys and Crazy Homicides territory but the Tomahawks were a much talked about, very large and feared gang. I was grateful I never had any run-ins with them. I wish you and your family all the best and glad those days are behind us and hopefully better days ahead. Peace !
the sukka think he , the sukka think he can whoop me and i know he cant whoop me ill ... aye boy, DA NIGGA WHOLE STYLE IS CHUMP ! BEST MOVIE LINE EVER CREATED.. POINT BLANK!
LOL. It's hard to believe I (we) use to wear those fox-collar coats..."Quarterfields". In the 70's the JollyStompers and the Tomahawks terrorized Brooklyn.
That gang leader was a real person He was the leader of the Tommahawks in brooklyn his name was Derrick Champ he extorted a lot of busineses He was feared I remember him when I was a Kid
@ghreps I heard he straightened out his life or tried but eventually passed away. Not sure if it was due to gang violence or natural causes later on in life.
Can you back that up? 'Cause I see him... he's white... and since you aren't him... And don't know him... I don't see how the fuck you'd know. That's right, you wouldn't. Now shut the hell up.
Most of those shown were actual members of the "Tomahawks" street gang. I had the gang leader and the fellow kneeling in the front (with the hat)in my housing unit at Rikers Island in 1974. (A.R D.C. C-74.two Lower) when I was a Correction Officer. The Fellow kneeling in front (CB),was the Head of my "House Gang". I never had a problem with him even though he was in for Homicide and could probably kick any inmates ass in the institution.
@mrduky So I have a question since you were there back in the day. Was "Jailhouse" a real fighting style? Have you heard of 52 Blocks? Did guys back in the day really have a style of fighting that was unique?
@allblackmax Yes, in Brooklyn there was a style of fighting called "The 52 Moves." It was sort of like the way the monks had their styles of fighting in kung fu, but the 52 was boxing type moves.
@111mrfantastic Yes it was called 52 blocks. Back then you also had the Jolly Stompers. They were feared at the brooklyn skating rink. I was in the Bronx but heard of them out there. Y'all brothers have a good day. Glad we've grown up into decvent human beings. Some did not have a chance and died in their ignorance. God Bless
I picked this movie up on DVD recently. It's more of a drama than a gang movie, but it's still something to see. The movie was supposed to have two rumbles, but the 1st one gets cut 'cause they thought the gangs would actually fight.
@RuuudeBwoyNo1 Scarface is mad overrated, it's an average film, there's been better ones on that type of genre.
