  • What a beautiful piece of music. With all the comparissons of famous sopranos, you don't hear much rivalry between mezzo's. That being said, who would not love Marilyn Horne. In my humble opinion one of the world's best mezzo's of al times. Her mid and lower registers are just fabulous, although her high notes are very good as well. I like Daniela Dessi, but doesn't thrill me like Ms. Horne.

    Thanks for the recording.

  • is the conductor Thomas Fulton??

  • conductor looks like a young Gergiev with much less hysterical gestures than he has in 2010. Gorgeous conducting, playing, singing. thanks for the post

  • beautiful!!! two perfect voices and great interpretations!!!

  • Beautiful......do you have Ms Horne singing the Liber Scriptus as well?

  • Like Casta Diva is for Callas - so will it be Verdi's Requiem for Horne!

Certainly worth crossing the whole globe just to listen to her in this.

  • Horne is fantastic!

  • Horne is a class act.

  • I can just say:Beautiful!

  • Yes, I think you are a little unfair here against a great performer. I just don't understand what you mean with"her gestures look rather ridiculous".

She looks great and she sings great, of course.

  • Yes, well sung; however, in contrast to the propriety of Mme. Horne's still solemnity, Mme. Dessi's gestures look rather ridiculous. It may be unfair, though, to expect the latter to have the same artistic maturity as the former.

  • what a rare footage! i didn't even know the 2 ever worked together - 2 generations here.

    well sung!
