Should Chicago Get the Olympics in 2016?

Some good points intelligently put, but the police brutality argument was a strange one. In Rio, the police kill over 100 times more people every year in shootings etc. than in Chicago.

On top of that the Brazilian metropolis (top 5 murder capital of the world) has only two million people more than Chicago yet around 7 times as many murders. The 2016 olympics could be a major problem with it not being held in a safe city like Chicago.

Arpart from that I thought the speaker was very good.

I predict that if Chicago gets the Olympics. Homeless people in selected parts of the city. They will be rounded up and placed somewhere else. Until, the games are over with. If there is a lawsuit, what would Mayor Daley care? the taxpayers picks up the tab.

I absolutely recall the homeless population in downtown Atlanta was rounded up, before the '96 Olympics began there, and as someone who attended those games. Who says it'll be any different in Chicago, if the IOC foolishly awards us the games?

The IOC should give the games to Rio, a city that is far more deserving of hosting the Olympics than Chicago, and lies on a continent where sadly no Olympics have never been hosted on! And we'll be able to watch the 2016 games on a similar time zone. :)
