after listening ambasel i felt very home sick and makes me think, what is this world for? the good, the bad, the in-between, the hate, the love, the dislike, the jealousy........4 what?
WOW ! This is real profestionalism....Ambassel is noumber one favo of Ethiopian music for me..I real like it soooo much. I will do one Ambassel clip in the near futur.
....It has the power to sink deep in to my veins and flow with my blood...I am sure you exactly understand what I am saying here because I know you also have the love of music implanted in your heart. Feke, I don't think this comment space will be enough for me to write how i feel about Ambassel and your work on it...it makes me miss even the time that i was not even born...
what i felt after watching this video is just want to cry as usual, cause i luv the melody and the way how father plays it in deep...God bless u Fekade and long live to these artists including my dad.
Ambasel is an Aweraja located in current day Wollo. It is a very mountainous region. Geshen Mariam/Geshen Amba, where partition of the Crusifix of Eyesus Kirstos kept in one of the mountains of Ambasel. The Mountain has the shape of a Cross. Also for the past 1000 years or so, it surved as the school, prison and grooming center for the Royal families. Tesfa Eyesus, Crown name Emperor Yekuno Amelak who abolished the Zagwae Dynasty in 1270 and restore the Solmonyic dynasty was a prince of Ambasel.
As a tribute to his hometown, Yekuno Amelak bestowed the title JANTIRAR to the line of arstocratic families who governed the Aweraja of Ambasel. The title JANTIRAR could even pre-date him. The late Etegae Menen was the daughter of Jantirar Asfaw of Ambasel.
thank you so much. you seem to know so much about wollo (by the way-the best land in the world). do you suggest a book that tell about some interesting places in Ethiopia & africa
No problem Waffiki. If you can find it, anything by Teklesadiq mekuria, Sargew Hableselsie, Dr. Tamirat Desta and Paulos Nogno is great. Harold Marcos, Richard Pankrist have good books out there too.
