  • After you get the rope over the branch, what do you do with it? Do you have two ends of the rope hanging down to the swing? looks like one rope going down to the swing. Where did you tie off the rope?

  • Awesome!

  • thats cool man good job on the swing

  • Your son is really cute!!

  • Your Awesome Dad! Good idea! Thank you for sharing with us! I Must add this to my honey do list :)

  • Your Awesome Dad! Good idea!

  • does anybody know if they make those type of bucket seats for adults or older kids?

  • that's great. i am going to put one up soon. just bought one like the one you have.

  • What is that thing your swinging him over in the grass mid swing, look's like he could get really hurt bad if that rope failed right there on the back swing ya know Looks like a lot of fun though God bless you and Liam. I would cover what ever that is with something FYI

  • That looks so much fun! I'm going to bug my husband to make one for us. :) thanks!

  • So fun! How did you attach the four ropes of the swing to the rope hanging from the tree?

  • The bucket seat ropes end in two hooks that connect to a swing set .I put the rope hooks into a big knot at the end of the tree rope .

  • I just finished making ours! The kiddos think it is AMAZING and that I am amazing : ). I ended up getting a metal hoop and knotted the rope around it, then hung the seat rope hooks from the hoop. Thanks!

  • Hey, We made a great tree swing very similar to yours but we jump off from a high ledge and swing down and up. We not seen this video before we made it and had not thought of using garden hose. So I'm just wondering how you got the garden hose on and is there a way to do it so that we don't have to take down the entire swing first? Any help is good, thanks. (BTW we tied knotted the two ends of a board that we drilled holes in so it is more like a swing)

  • do you have any suggestions for making a rope swing on a 3ft by 2 ft concrete bridge girder?

  • My swing rope can be untied and extra rope added to one side .I lower down the old middle and examine for frays .Youve seen the thriller movies when the rope breaks .Avoid that .

  • I would recommend tying a loop not a hangman's noose .You will never be able to climb to untie it so you have to rely on two ropes like a U shape over the girder .

  • ahhh thank you for the info have been trying to make a giant rope swing for a while now been having trouble as i couldnt throw the rope high enough but kite string did the trick, cheers again

  • Hey thanks for the information! I really appreciate it. Can't wait to put one up again. The kids loved it!

  • How did you prevent slip friction? Did you tie a knot tight up against the limb? Thanks.

  • My rope hangs over it like a u shape .the house is a red rubbery type witch grips some would be my guess .Dont tie a slip knot .

  • A slip knot will kill the limb , it acts like a tourniquet and cuts off water / nutrients .Only the outer layer below the bark is alive .

  • My branch is horizontal if yours is at an angle ,may need to knot it . It will be several years before it dies and weakens .

  • I did that with a hose on a tire swing and my kids wore it out in one day. The friction of the rope rubbing against the tree put a hole in it. I think you have to do a tight knot so the rope doesn't move.

  • Sounds like you had a lot of slip friction . Mine has been fine for over 7 years .Ive replaced the rope once .The hose held up fine .

  • Thanks man the only problem i have now is the rediculous price of 100m natral (fairly think) rope...its like £200 atlease for 100 meters

  • Thanks for making this video. I have been planning on making a tire swing for my 8 year old, and you sold me on the giant swing idea. Super cool. Thanks again for posting

  • i like the hose idea thanks

  • i thought u were ment to do it over a hill but nice vid

  • that looks so fun

  • The end is really cool when Liam holds the camera!

  • WOW! That looks like a blast. Thanks for sharing.

I want to put one up at the park in my neighborhood, but I'm afraid the home owner's association will just come and cut it down.

Liabilities take the fun out of EVERYTHING!

  • no the rope simply goes over the branch , no knot to avoid killing the branch .

  • sweet

  • Wow! That's awesome!

  • He's not going to hit that fence or house, is he?

  • They are both beyond the swings reach. The only thing that could be hit is the tree or other kids running in the yard .Self discipline or adult supervision needed.

  • Good job mate and it looks like Liam is really enjoying himself,5*

  • nice
