Ironically, with it tuned down like this, plant could've sung it the origninal way if he'd wanted, but he hasn't sung it that way in so long, it doesn't even occur to him to do that.
What a thrill is must be for Jason to play with his dad's mates, what a thrill for Page, Plant and Jones to have their old mate's boy playing with them.
@clinthale2003 i think it was ac dc and the roling stones because they where jealous of this performances :D no offence, but i think if we compare this performance to the live performances of the stones and AC DC today ... than we know led zep should play the world tours instead of the stones and ac dc! because this 2 ones are just shadows of themself, but the guys of led zep still have the fire of the old days and they still improved their talend and style!
Fuck it! Let Page and Jonesy play without Plant. Plant's voice is shot, and we know the words anyway, don't we? All together now: HEY BABY! WHOA BABY! PRETTY BABY!
(Sorry...I just want to see them live before I die.)
seriously, just for about 10 minutes ago, i had the opinion that robert can't sing anymore, but first listening to kashmir from the same concert, and then this, what am i supposed to think now? I mean wtf, some parts of these preformances gives me the same feeling as listening to concerts from the 70's!
because they didnt have a name for the song when they recorded it, and a black dog walked into the studio when they were there, and so they came up with black dog
they propably filmed the whole consert, it was big cameras all around^^ they did probably not put up all those just to film 1 minute of black dog. but zeppelin is allways slow to give out things^^
Years ago, I was playing some Zeppelin when a friend dropped by. He heard the vocals and asked me if that was Janis Joplin singing. Robert Plant is a bad MFer. Nobody sings, looks or moves like he does.
plant can wear what the fuck he wants. he still sounds and moves like the shit. what are u going to have @ his age if anything? 3:27 says it all my friend.
well he is i his mid60s and still has thick blond hair which is very unlikely which leads me 2 think he is wearing a wig PS im not "playing" with no zeppelin fans cuz ilove zeppelin
All you have to do is look at Robert Plant in recent interviews where you can see his hair clearly and it is obviously his own hair. It is more thin than it was when he was younger, and it has some grey strands, but it's mostly still there. If he were wearing a wig, it would look more uniform and perfect.
@kev5655 he isnt in his mid 60s, he is 61 now and in this concert he is 59, and his hair is real but the colour isnt (he dyes it), but in fact he has actually always dyed it since the early 70s cus his natural hair colour was brown.
@NattDavisMusic Sooooo Fuckin' What? Look at the life and production of these lives. They'll live far past our little lives in performances and recordings, then there's the lives they've influenced. They are not their hair. If that was true every guy with good hair would be a star. (Just read "Hammer of the Gods" The trim they got alone in worth a blonde rinse without giving them grief)
man it wouldve sounded better if you could hear jimmy more and if it was played with more treble than that chunky bass sound becuase in the 70s in madison square garden it was played that way and sounded way better but this is good
It's funny. Plant got used to singing the song this way back in the 70's because it would strain his voice too much to sing it how it is on the album, but since they lowered the tuning for this performance, he could have sung it the original album way. Guess that no longer comes to him after so many years of singing it this way.
I didn't detect any difference in Plant's voice from his concert tour heyday and this one. I think his vocal prowess live on stage still could put any kid rockers today to shame any day.
This was Jason Bonham's best of the night. He kills it here. I know die-hards will want to crucify me for this, but he I think he actually does a better job than his father did on this particular song (not the case for any other songs though).
yeah, but you also have to realize that bonzo was drunk off his ass half of the time while playing and jason wasnt. so im still loyal to bonzo. :P just an opinion.
Actually, Plant has had to do that since way back in 1975. The notes he's able to hit clearly haven't really changed since then. The only time in his whole career that he was able to clearly hit those signature Plant high notes without going falsetto was back before 1975.
Hey, whats up with being 60 and having long hair, grow old disgracefully I say... thats what I intend to do! Better that than responding to the fasion police.. aging hippies unite!
When wasn't this song heavy? Jason's pappy is definitely rockin to this somewhere. As for Percy's hair, the "dignified" comments obviously come from pattern-balding guys who can't bring themselves to go clean.
I´m so sorry guys for not being responding a month ago... Well, yes, you need a program or a package of audio programs for edition of the sound; equalizers and a lot of patience and good ear; since I´m a musician and I record music too I had the gear and the time to do this, but, as you can see, I´ve not finished yet. This was possible thanks also to the video work of bdknocks, enjoy it my friends!!
bravo plant for hitting the notes...but get a haircut dude...you look like a wet poodle. At least your band mates can age gracefully, including Jason....shaves his head because he's losing his hair.
dipshit, why are you watching it then? the greatest band ever to grace this earth just proved they still have what it takes to kick ass. this is far from a low in music. a low in music would be linkin park doing this in their 60s.
They did really well as a whole band on this song. Jason's drumming is about the best of the whole night, Jimmy is on point. At first I wanted Robert to belt it higher like on the album, but I've come to appreciate the variations of vocal tones on the verses here.
