Delta Burke and Dolly Parton are two great actresses! Dolly Parton guessed starred on an episode of Designing Women. The episode is called "The First Day Of The Last Decade Of The Entire Twentieth Century." That episode was wonderful!
They keep giving hooped dresses such a bad rep in these sketches. You know as long as they are worn in the RIGHT places and are handled correctly they're not so bad. XP
@doodies Great point doodles. Hoopskirts this size were worn by plantation rich southern girls as fashion statements to reflect their wealth and their class. They look delicious against white pillared homes or tip-toeing down huge marble staircases, rustling against the railing with glimpses of frothy crinolines peeping from underneath the wide billowing hoops. When they are this beautiful, it's easy to see why these princesses never picked cotton or raised a hand to cook, clean or dress themself
Yes. Spoiled people have worn them, but rotten, spoiled people have worn pants too, and we don't make fun of them.
It's perfectly possible to do many kinds of legitimate housework, even in a dress like this, and given the fact that most of us have never, or will never encounter a southern plantation, I suspect that much of the prejudice against this kind of fashion design is a fruit of the media's natural prejudice against anything that differentiates women from men.
Still thinks she's an under rated talent and beauty! Glad her SNL ep is on netflix
