  • No matter what it ever symbolizes in particular - it ist a wunderful an deeply true little tale. Its truth lies in the inner coherency of story, painting and music. This is waht spirituality is about, I guess.

    Lovable piece. Thanks for posting!

  • brings back so many memories

  • Stunning!

  • Bedankt!

  • гениально!

  • The sureal ending made it worthwhile.

  • Three people don't understand beautiful animation when they see it.

  • Boring...

  • I am a bit confused on the story line near the end.

The dedication to obtain this fish either to eat (most likely) or to keep as a pet. My take on the end is that they traveled so far away from home that both eventually died off or in a certain aspect, both found enlightenment and moved onward. The animation is well done as well. I truly enjoyed the lack of physics and the HUGE exaggeration in how he "Bounds" or leaps around. I'd love to see someone try a 3D version of this with maya maybe.

Well, that's my interpretation, but seeing as the protagonist is a monk, and knowing the fish is a symbol of God in the christian imagery, the monk trying to catch the fish is a representation of the search for God.

First he tries to catch it in his monastery, but it escapes; then he search for it every where in the world.

All the while the fish is in water, but the monk walks on the ground.

Around 5:15, the monk goes into the water (the water symbolizes true life of course).

  • @cseptr

Well, see: the fish symbolizes God in the christian imagery,

water symbolizes "true live" (which means life loving God, life in faith).

The monk tries to catch the fish, in the water, while walking on the ground, first in his monastery (meaning within the bounds of what he is familiar with), then all around the world. Trying to CATCH him.

Around 5:15, the monk enters the water, then the monk lead by the fish goes out to the see and then into the sky.
