Have you noticed aswell how fast the floats are going to try and get them back inside and get them out the rain, puts a fresh take on the parade looks like a road with traffic :D
I've never seen the floats go that fast! lol But leave it to Disney to still put on a good show even in the rain. Characters must have been relieved since they probably sweat like crazy on all the other Florida hot days
I can't believe that! We were there at the beginning of June. A few raindrops, then a BRIEF downpour, then nothing, and the afternoon parade was delayed 45 minutes until they were sure the rain was gone completely.
I'm not saying I'm not glad Disney was being safe, but after watching this video, I'm left thinking...huh?
MiSiCi is a wonderful parade to do! Me and my sister like really did not want to see it we were like.. we are teenagers.. We dont want to see a parade........ Lets just say... by the time it was over me and my sister were shaking our talefathers!!!!! :))
Haha... thats what i was just going to ask when i saw that you already commented. i think they are actually moving that fast. i know i would if i was having to do a parade in a hurricane.
i've heard the top speed on the floats is 9 mph this looks to be more then that. it was probably a good thing this happened during the bridge refurb as i'm not sure how they would have been able to make a quicker exit
This gives new meaning to the term "Raining on your Parade."
But Seriously, doing a Parade in the rain is FUN! You get to cut choreography, do whatever you want, and get your $20,000 costume completely soaked & wet! Everyone should try it!
Jiminy has his umbrella but you may notice that Mary Poppins isn't using hers. She was probably going to open it and then found out that it was just a prop. LOL!
also, they cut the parade short, which means obviously a few floats were able to avoid having to go out in the rain because they were still backstage with the downpour hit
very interesting situation, but surely not uncommon in the nearly 40 years of WDW in FLORIDA
Wow I know they close early for a hurricane but I'm really surprised they did the parade while it was raining. Kudos to the cast members!! They did a good job even though they must have been miserable in those wet costumes.
if this was taken during the last couple of weeks then i was there as a cast member. They hate cancelling the parade and that rain is nothing compared to the rain we got during tropical storm fay
This WAS Fay. And you can't really tell how bad the rain was because of the video quality. I was there for this, and I could barely walk straight because the wind was blowing so hard and I was being pelted so hard by the rain.
It still wasnt as bad as it got during that week. You weren't the one wading through 2 feet of water in Fantasy Land as the water belted across your back. Disney still won't close the park, even for a hurricane. They have only closed it once in 38 years so I doubt they were gonna close it for a tropical storm. Also, a final note, they don't cancel the parade unless if the rain starts as it does in this video BEFORE the parade goes out and it had already gone out when it started.
I never said they were going to close the park. I've been there in a hurricane, and all they did was close it early. I know they don't close, almost no matter what.
I've sure never seen that "effect" on the float. And regardless of when it began raining, dumass, the parade managers should have made an executive decision and canceled it beforehand. They do look at the radar on a daily basis.
Kinda funny. Whens the last time you've seen the Dreams Come True Parade at the Magic Kingdom. I see it 5 times a week. Oh and they watch the dopler constantly.

NOT A HURRICANE! People do the dumbest things on earth, like visit a park during torrential rain and wind. Not amusing at all! Poor people in those water clogged costumes. Shame on Disney for even being open on a miserable day. BAD Decision!
Oh yeah...Disney is going to close everytime there's wind and rain. Not likely, besides, if you want to do all the attractions with no wait then throw on a rain coat and go...best time to be there if you ask me
Actually, that day was the first day it HADN'T rained in like a week. There hadn't been one drop all day, until about two minutes after the parade started. Seriously, it was a nice day until the SECOND the parade stepped off.
lol the floats are going insanely fast

They put "hurricane" in the title to ramp up the views.

Jimminy and Mary Poppins thoughts: "haha...suckers. We have umbrellas."
All the other characters: "Fuuuuu."
Everyone driving a float: "well, crap. This thing'll only pull 9mph..."
Everyone downstairs:"OH. MY. GOSH. everyone remain calm."

MiSiCi stands for the "Move it Shake it Celebrate it" Street Party Parade that WDW MK has throughout the day.

How did they manage to turn the floats around they where going the other way to start with. they seem to have turned round and speed up a little.
pcole81 2 years ago
the floats did the turnaround in the hub in front of the castle, like how they do with MiSiCi.

Its not "smoking" Its an effect that the float has. As for the decision. It didn't start to rain until Mickey's float got to the train station.
