If the Vietnamese people could change the way they sell and serve street foods, it would be a country worth a visit for the world. Why am I say this? Because, everything else is great; except for the garbage being littered when people sell street foods. The government should do more to help and organize street food vendors, so that health hazard can be under control. The Vietnamese people need to pay more attention to keep the city and country they dearly love clean and clean!
I was born in Vietnum came to USA when i was 4 years old im planing gettin my pass port and flying to vietnum i want to see my own country i was born :) im proud to be asain thank god made me who iam as a peraon,

@fasteddy60 Ah I see. Wish I'd get a chance to do the same sometime soon too, it just sounds so wonderful=). I'm a Saigonese girl coming from Saigon and having lived there till I was 11, but I'd love to visit other places in Vietnam now, explore my home country a bit more. Definitely check out the backpacker district - Pham Ngu Lao in Saigon if you can=). The city is really urbanized and a bit too internationalized but there is still a charm to it. Enjoy your trip=)!
@LazyChristy Thx LazyChristy,I will check out the area you told me about.I will tell you all about it when I return.I will enjoy my trip thank-you. I love VN. so much!
About 380 young monks and nuns who are followers of Buddhist leader Thich Nhat Hanh, have called on the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, to grant them temporary asylum, after they were forced to flee Bat Nha monastery and repeatedly attacked by vigilantes allegedly hired by the Vietnamese authorities. They say the government regards their leader as a threat to its authority due to his fast-growing popularity among the youth.
Prosperity only exists in big cities in Vietnam like Hanoi and Saigon, but 80% of Vietnamese population live in poor, underdeveloped rural areas. While corrupt communist leaders like Prime minister Nguyen tan Dung and President Nguyen minh Triet are multi-billionaires, a regular Vietnamese earns only $1 per day. More than 200,000 Vietnamese women from poor families, many as young as ten, are working as prostitutes and sex slaves in China, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Korea.

Mien6577 - I was completely awestruck by your footage - you are not kidding I was captivated by your imagery, style and grace. Color me stupid but the only real images I have seen of your country up until now was in war movies made in the west. You have opened a new door for me to gaze upon - thank you for sharing love of your country with the world.
you're not stupid at all. i was born there myself, but until i visited vietnam, the only images i knew of vietnam were from the ugly war movies. since my first visit there, i've returned 4 times. i've fallen in love with the country and its people and so have many of my american and european friends who have been there.

yeah, most vietnamese who were born and grown in western countries and aus know vietnam by war clips, but there's much, much more than just the war.
generalsnha 4 years ago 9
I agree... but the wars will always be a part of us..
We must ensure that the future generations are educated about the pains and suffering their forefathers and mothers endured.
Education is the key to freedom they say.
