im glad people post these kind of videos because atleast i dont have to play the game to see the endding, and this endding does not seem worth going through the whole game to see it

If anything, Necron's appearance (despite the game's muddled "destroy all life because you all just want to destroy it anyways" rationale) is a deus ex machina role à la FFI and FFIII (arguably maybe FFIV). If you don't get it, just remember how in FFI/III/IV the main baddies just appear at the end for almost no reason, with kind of awk placed morales.
i never beat this boss, so i never saw the ending. i really didn't care though, i found myself plodding through ffix most of the time, barely enjoying it or caring what happens. chrono trigger, now that was a real enjoyable, gripping game.

Sure, you play it and it's wonderful and you think to yourself, I could play this forever so much it's good... But no, that's fooling yourself. Maybe you'll clock in 200 hours of gameplay but eventually you will sicken of it. An end provides closure and in it also provides this desire that makes it so... good.
@FewL4no1 I agree, FF9 is also my favourite game of all time, I would have loved the game ten fold if that ending was in it. But the thing is FF8 had better graphics than FF9, because FF9 was a quick game to get more money.

You're talking about Tellah here, and if you don't know Tellah. How the hell did you not play FF4 yet? Seriously, that uber spell would better fit then an omnislash style move... (For one thing, Omnislash can be made into a mundane limit break, whereas Tellah's final spell is unique within the game and thus all the more potent)

I got what Necron represents, but he really shouldn't have existed as the Final boss. Aside from a desire by the creators to 'make a point,' he had no relevance whatsoever to the story, and no-one had any idea he was coming.
His existence as the final send off just left me a little bemused.

my party was ( on my hs days) since year2000 zidane (5k hp) auto haste, auto regen. (cant remember all...) steiner (7k hp) hp + freya (5k hp) amarant (6k hp) all physical attackers... zidane (Thievery 9999 damage) steiner (Shock 9999 damage) freya (Dragon's Crest 9999 damage) and adarant (healer? yes...) Aura,Revive. No Mercy(9999 below damage) no cheat. just super leveling... all level 70+ 20 hours game time... not perfect file. HEHEHE!!! just battle story.
This boss was stupid. There was no reason to incorporate him into the game. He had NOTHING to do with anything. At least Zemus was mind controlling everyone... stupid filler boss.

The real theme of FF IX is death and dealing with its consequences, and so Necron literally IS death (necro means dead, plus a N to make it sounds cool). So anyway, the final battle agaisnt him means Zidane and his companions fighting certain death to resolve their own issues. Now you understand "I am eternal, as long as there is life and death", right? He is, like, the Grim Reaper :)

Sure, he's an arrogant prancing fairy but in the end he was truly human. No other FF villan was like that. Chaos was a god, the Emperor was satan, Cloud of Darkness was the personification of darkness itself, Zemus was just a lunatic wanting freedom... you get the point. Throwing in Necron at the end just got me mad, regardless of his significance.
@Meidoification Well, technically, Kuja was not a human, he was a Genome manufactured by Garland. I'd say that the only truly human antagonist we saw in the Final Fantasy series was Vayne Solidor, even though he became that bizarre thing when he fused with Venat.

Far too easy as a final boss, and somewhat isolated as a nemesis throughout the game. Necron isn't as memorable or as interesting a Sephiroth or Ultimecia, for example, even Sin. I think he's a weak final boss in all respects.
@BandWagon1987 at least his only interesting move is grand cross, wich is the only one that can REALLY bother the player, but still easy as you said^^
I actually just beat the game like an hour ago, first time too! absolutely amazing game, and I thought Necron looked totally badass, beat him on my first attempt but I did preperation before hand as I'd read and heard about how he can inflict so many bad status ailments on you, hell of a game!!
zidane is a level 75 in mine garnet is a level 74 steiner is level 76 vivi is level 75 eiko is level 78 quina is level 71 amgaron is level 73 freya is level 78
My team was Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Eiko. I look at these videos of fights with Necron and laugh at how overpowered everyone is when I beat him when my characters weren't even past level 54 and none of them had the final weapons. In the end it literally came down to the last hit. Zidane being the only only one alive with 1 hp and using meo twister to finish it. This fight was ridiculous for me... hehe
@Galvanizer67 i read something cool about dissidia 012 kuja isnt actually an enemy he might be sided with chaos but he doesnt fights any of the warriors of cosmos in fact he helps them :P

The focus of FFIX is character development more than anything else. Unfortunately tho this led to declination in storyline; Squaresoft was criticised heavily for the central villain's unorignal character obviously comprised of factors from previous villains rather than new and original
it's suppose to be easy, they do this for alot of ff main title games, after the second to last boss being hard (tho kuja was easy for me) then they have a easy final boss to end it, like for ff10 defeating yu yevon was stupidly easy they give you auto-life, or for FF7 you just face regular sephiroth, or for ff13 orphan's second form can die after being broken once, anyways see what I mean? I didn't realize all this at the time so me bragging is pointless for necron .___."
after i got zidane's weapon that does thievery doing 9999 damage for only 4 mp, insanely broken btw, i just whored that with amarant's attack healer and chakra for the rest of the game, this boss was beaten in 3 minutes for me :D
dagger may have ark as one of the best summons, but i actually found that it was better using eiko. i prefered her alot more especially with maideen. btw the strongest weapon for dagger is the tiger racket, but its shared by her and eiko.
I kinda like how Steiner usually ends up as a guy who stands back and throws Shock at everything.
I mean we're used to him being this offensive dude who always runs up to the enemy and is all forceful, so it feels pretty special to have him stand resting far away and throw Shock. 8D

@hudson5188 I find nothing wrong with it..The only thing that kinda bugs me is that its somewhat shorter than most.. i think it stands out though as being able to have 4 characters instead of 3 buts thats just my opinion

Heh.. I was so shocked at how easy this final battle was, I mean the guy looked freaky as all holy hell and I assumed he would be a challenge but about 4 shocks later he dropped. My highest leveled character was at 62 and it was DAGGER. That's saying something. Still, game was amazing but after having to fight OZMA this was like sleeping. =___=;
Anyone notice that the background is similar to where you fight Deathguise?
Anyway, Necron is a throwback to past FFs, much like the whole game actually, he has a similar attack to Exdeath and involved with a tree. Another would be The Cloud Of Darkness and Xande, FFIII, where Xande was afraid of his mortality much like Kuja, and his actions summoned The Cloud Of Darkness at the end of the game, again much like Necron coming about after Kuja's insanity over being mortal.
trance kuja shoulda been way harder... he destroys an entire planet and his pansy ass was easy to kill compared to this guy...he shoulda been the shit and use ultima in the middle of the fight.. and wipe everybodies health to 1 .. even deathguise is harder than trance kuja its ridiculous

I mean we follow Kuja everywhere and he is so evil and ownes the party at all points. He should have been way harder so we could experience the satisfaction by defeating him. @stickman9100 I always thought of him as the "soul of the crystal." After you kill Kuja, he destroys the crystal, and I believe Necron is what either was trapped in the crystal, or is the crystal taking a new form, or true form?
The easiest way to kill this boss is to do all of the quests and get the armor that protects from the effects of arcane magic and teach Vivi Doomsday, I did it in one turn and he was done!
Why do people complain about Necron? We all thought Kuja was the final boss....then BAM out comes Necron, what a twist! Sometimes a little mystery's a good thing.

Better idea:
- Your party beats Trance Kuja
- Necron appears, set on destroying all life
- Kuja, realizing his mistake, teleports you away
- You get to, then, fight as Kuja
- You get a super-awesome move as Kuja (alla Omnislash [FF7 ending]) which also kills Kuja
- Kuja sacrifices himself to destroy Necron.
(You could also put in dialogue with Zidance trying to convince Kuja not to kill himself; to let them fight)
FF IX is my favorite game of all-time, and I would have loved this ending

How do you prevent or counter the "Zombie" status ailment? That's my only real problem fighting against Necron

Far too easy as a final boss, and somewhat isolated as a nemesis throughout the game. Necron isn't as memorable or as interesting a Sephiroth or Ultimecia, for example, even Sin. I think he's a weak final boss in all respects.

I actually just beat the game like an hour ago, first time too! absolutely amazing game, and I thought Necron looked totally badass, beat him on my first attempt but I did preperation before hand as I'd read and heard about how he can inflict so many bad status ailments on you, hell of a game!!

zidane is a level 75 in mine garnet is a level 74 steiner is level 76 vivi is level 75 eiko is level 78 quina is level 71 amgaron is level 73 freya is level 78

My team was Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Eiko. I look at these videos of fights with Necron and laugh at how overpowered everyone is when I beat him when my characters weren't even past level 54 and none of them had the final weapons. In the end it literally came down to the last hit. Zidane being the only only one alive with 1 hp and using meo twister to finish it. This fight was ridiculous for me... hehe

@Wlkification Holy shit dude, I remember when I played FF9 Gizzalmuke was by far the hardest boss to beat and I leveled all my characters well in the beggining. Idk what it is about that boss but its just rough for the level you fight him at.

The focus of FFIX is character development more than anything else. Unfortunately tho this led to declination in storyline; Squaresoft was criticised heavily for the central villain's unorignal character obviously comprised of factors from previous villains rather than new and original

it's suppose to be easy, they do this for alot of ff main title games, after the second to last boss being hard (tho kuja was easy for me) then they have a easy final boss to end it, like for ff10 defeating yu yevon was stupidly easy they give you auto-life, or for FF7 you just face regular sephiroth, or for ff13 orphan's second form can die after being broken once, anyways see what I mean? I didn't realize all this at the time so me bragging is pointless for necron .___."

after i got zidane's weapon that does thievery doing 9999 damage for only 4 mp, insanely broken btw, i just whored that with amarant's attack healer and chakra for the rest of the game, this boss was beaten in 3 minutes for me :D

dagger may have ark as one of the best summons, but i actually found that it was better using eiko. i prefered her alot more especially with maideen. btw the strongest weapon for dagger is the tiger racket, but its shared by her and eiko.

I kinda like how Steiner usually ends up as a guy who stands back and throws Shock at everything.
I mean we're used to him being this offensive dude who always runs up to the enemy and is all forceful, so it feels pretty special to have him stand resting far away and throw Shock. 8D
Dunno how to put it, but maybe you have felt the same.

@hudson5188 I find nothing wrong with it..The only thing that kinda bugs me is that its somewhat shorter than most.. i think it stands out though as being able to have 4 characters instead of 3 buts thats just my opinion

Heh.. I was so shocked at how easy this final battle was, I mean the guy looked freaky as all holy hell and I assumed he would be a challenge but about 4 shocks later he dropped. My highest leveled character was at 62 and it was DAGGER. That's saying something. Still, game was amazing but after having to fight OZMA this was like sleeping. =___=;

Anyone notice that the background is similar to where you fight Deathguise?
Anyway, Necron is a throwback to past FFs, much like the whole game actually, he has a similar attack to Exdeath and involved with a tree. Another would be The Cloud Of Darkness and Xande, FFIII, where Xande was afraid of his mortality much like Kuja, and his actions summoned The Cloud Of Darkness at the end of the game, again much like Necron coming about after Kuja's insanity over being mortal.

trance kuja shoulda been way harder... he destroys an entire planet and his pansy ass was easy to kill compared to this guy...he shoulda been the shit and use ultima in the middle of the fight.. and wipe everybodies health to 1 .. even deathguise is harder than trance kuja its ridiculous

I mean we follow Kuja everywhere and he is so evil and ownes the party at all points. He should have been way harder so we could experience the satisfaction by defeating him. @stickman9100 I always thought of him as the "soul of the crystal." After you kill Kuja, he destroys the crystal, and I believe Necron is what either was trapped in the crystal, or is the crystal taking a new form, or true form?

The easiest way to kill this boss is to do all of the quests and get the armor that protects from the effects of arcane magic and teach Vivi Doomsday, I did it in one turn and he was done!
