@animelover1808 Justin only looks good because he plays against average people.Every year he goes to japan for sbo,and he always loose in the first turn, often by 2/0.How he can still make illusion in america,i don't know, but let's not lie to ourselves shall we?Justin wong is still doing random reversal ultra (see his match against gamerbee at evo),daigo is litteraly called god in japan(where the average level is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above the us/eu,see team america's sbo results).Pick you side.
@FlamesOfZen well if you belive justin wong to be godlike at sf4,you really need to watch is matches and compare them to sbo level japanese player.Clearly they don't play in the same league, just because he is hyped in america does'nt means he is that good. Also, from what i hear, two weeks ago Tokido rolled over america in a tournament at marvel 3,so i'am not sure if he is going to stay god like for long.
@razgaros I disagree he's slaking in street fighter but are you saying he wasn't godlike at evo last year and the year before sure he lost to daigo in grand finals in 2009 and top ten in 2010 i'm pretty sure he is godlike just daigo is more godlike
@razgaros lol... Of course Japanese are Gdlk but us Americans need a hero also. Its Justin Wong. Once Phoenix is gone from Umvc3 then he's back on top.
@CrunkLimonada Did you not watch the rest of the video after James said he lodged his kart? Since the funny part is afterwards, and if you didn't find that funny, you're bad.
I'd find it baffling that people from NY wouldn't make the effort to learn to drive, even if public transport over there doesn't require them to in their routine. What are you gonna do if you have to go out of the city?
Oh well, guess this balances things out. If people from other places have a hard time getting around NY, I'd guess people from NY would have a hard time getting around just about anywhere else where people normally drive.
@dhylec owning a car in NY is extremely expensive. Parking, hell, renting a spot to park, valet, gas, traffic, and the fact that it's just a lot more expensive than taking the train places doesn't really justify learning how to drive a car.
@harblardo So then, what, people in NY NEVER leave NY, ever?
Knowing how to drive will save you money and hassle just about everywhere else in the world, so yes, that definitely justifies learning how to drive. It's incredibly narrow-minded to think it's not a worthwhile skill to have, especially for a travelling tournament player like Justin Wong.
@dhylec Hey, I agree that driving is a useful skill, but not everyone has access to or can afford a car in New York. Id only the world worked on practical usages and not whatever is immediately available to one in the short term.
@dhylec It's the same in any major city. I'm from Boston and not many people drive here because of wide array of buses and trains. Even people with cars take the bus and train more because it's cheaper and far less a hassle (people here bitch about how horrible it is to drive here). It's just generally how city life is.
@xOmniCloudx My point wasn't about driving everyday or convenience - it's about whether you even know how to drive at all. In my mind, it's narrow-minded to not take the time to at least LEARN how to drive in case you ever need to, no matter where you live. This story about Justin, and his UG driving incident later, are not dire cases (fortunately), but they still make the point.
I live around the Seattle area by the way. Generally considered big-city here.
@dhylec I don't know how to drive and have no motivation to since I never need a car and wont anytime soon. As soon as I do I'll be motivated to learn. The fact my family and none of my friends even own a car (besides one who is in the service now) demotivates me even more.
@xOmniCloudx Guess you're betting everything on that 'never needing to drive' situation never changing. Never having to live or get around outside your city, and never being in a situation where driving will somehow be critical. I personally find that narrow-minded, as I said, and I couldn't settle for it. But that's my opinion. I don't intend to argue your current (or predicted) life circumstances.
i was born and raised in nyc, i know nothing about driving. i kept getting my permit, but for never felt compelled to get my license. dont need no car to get to chinatown fair, where wong will occasionally make an appearance.
Haha, this is so awesome. There's always that one guy in your group of friends who everyone knows for telling the best stories. It seems that in this group that guy is James Chen. It's like watching a monologue from a Tarantino picture, lol. He even has that same "riiiight?" to end his sentences that Tarantino does.
This is a pretty funny story....I'm just wondering if James Chen was in Tips N Tricks magazine along with Alex Valle and I on the same page back in the year 2000 for the Tournament in Stanton Golfland Arcade.....
@ArcadeInfinityMrKOF holy shit dude how the fuck i know that dude i use to collect those magazines a long time ago i remember they had that tournament arcade shit on there i use to see ricky ortiz a lot on street fighter 3rd strike thats how i got to know who he was i also alex valle a couple of times man ima go into my collection again and see them
lol that was hilarious. justin needs to understand more frame data in go-karting before he can drive. and maybe learn footsies to beat out other drivers
@DTJBsd bus and train. people start driving at like mid 20s though and some still take the train anyway because it's impossible to find parking in some parts of manhattan
This is one of those "you had to be there" jokes, but James delivers it in the best way possible.. :) I wish I lived in US, you guys have an awesome scene!
