  • amazing work , i love this movie, and i love stop motion too, congratulations

  • Bravo!

  • Very clever

  • This is one of the most impressive works I have ever seen. Well done!... :)

  • Dude...you're a genius :)

  • Hehe Awesome! Was the skeleton here the same model from the Sinbad mini-movie you made?

  • @volpe3fuego

Yes, the sinbad-skeleton swordfight was the skeleton's next gig after this one.

  • What did you use or how did you make the chainmail and glass and bottles? Thanks for sharing this, it's great. : ) Skol!

  • @KarlTX1000

The chainmail was purchased from a site called Build-a-Warrior, which has now disappeared. It is rubber, cast in a mould. Champagne bottles are bought - they held bubble liquid. Some glasses and bottles are cast in polyester resin, in a silicone rubber mould, made from shapes I turned on a lathe. And some straight-sided glasses are the clear caps of aerosol bottles of hair spray. I made the jug and beer steins from epoxy putty.

  • @StopmoNick

Thanks man for the info. I really appreciate it. It will come in handy later on.

  • haha BORK! BORK! BORK!

  • This is awesome, and it is fun to me because I´m swedish and understand what they are saying. However, I love the animation.

  • Skol

  • lol, I am a swede, so I didn't bother reading the subs while I watched it and was like "why are they heaving booze..?" :T

  • Loved it.....skol!

  • Loved it.....

  • I like this XD Skol!

  • lol!! nice one =) Love the backrounds . It has the same gloomy feel as the original movie.

  • Drinking certainly does kill you. ;)

Love the way the cloth flaps in the wind.

  • Wow! This is absolutely brilliant. Excellent animation - you really captured Max von Sydow and I love your new take on Death. An affectionate and smart parody. Every Bergman fan should see this. This is seriously worthy of the Oscar for Best Animated Short. Nice work - and the perfect length.

  • Very nice parody.

  • I love Bergman and I love stop-motion. Hilarious and superbly animated.

  • ha ha ha ha !

hurry up theres a plauge on you know.

    pure class nick bravo,

  • So many things to like about this. The shot of the knight at 1:23 and the look on his face just completely cracks me up!

  • Absolutely brilliant. I had a real good laugh. Thank you!

  • What a fun little twist on, "The Seventh Seal."

  • cool ! love it.

  • he couldnt win with stone cold steve austin

  • Awesome work once again Nick!

I love the look of this one and, as always, your animation is at 110%

I'm glad you're on YouTube now.

  • pff. Awesome.

  • best video i've seen in quite a while.

  • Wonderful animation, top-notch!!

  • This is really good.

  • this is very well done, a pro job 5*****

  • Hahah wow :) I love the original film. This is a prefect little remake. Down to the lighting and ambience :)

  • Skål!

  • "Brilliant" doesn't begin to describe this little film. But I can't think of a better word so I'll just say it was brilliantly conceived and brilliantly executed. And, if everything I've heard about Ingmar Bergman is true, I think he would have enjoyed it tremendously. I certainly did. Thanks for this.

  • Nick is fantastic!

  • That was some of the best animation I've ever seen.

  • What exactly is slow water gel

  • hahaha.. amazing. ur animation is an ispiration

  • Fantastic. Superb animation with the different stages of getting drunk. Thanks!

  • Plog the blacksmith would have prevailed :P

  • hahah that was great.

    Castlegardener beer, eh? ;)

  • Wow... everything about this is just awe inspiring. I will be watching it over and over again.

  • Awesome! I love everything about it, beautiful animation ( as always) and fantastic camera work!

  • Hysterically well done and very funny (especially if you know the Swedish dialogue)!

  • Daammmmm Dood!!! Super Pro!! you have such clean work man....EXCELLENT. jriggity

  • Hilarious!! I never saw the original Bergman film, 'The Seventh Seal' but I just watched a clip of the chess game scene on youtube. You did a great animation parody of it!!

  • gto1138 -

It's shot on ones at 25 fps, and edited at PAL widescreen resolution.

I did find limitations to my compositing technique, where the first glasses came up much too transparent.

Marnikloysen - not much to show behind the scenes - a very small set with some rocks and gravel, and a big white screen behind.

Castlegardener - I raise a glass of Chateau Jardinier (which roughly translates as Castle Gardener) to you sir, for helping to keep the stopmo community alive!

    And thanks again all!

  • You've done it again Nick! This is a great piece and something I'll enjoy reviewing over and over to study. Great fluid animation, loved the look and the misinterpreted speech.

  • Incredible =]

Absoloubtly perfect. Have you got any behind the scenes pictures and what not?

  • wow...always impressive...so many little details that make it so incredible...the flowing robe was great as well as the drink effects...just amazing...you set the bar really high for us and always inspire us to push our puppets farther...great looking bottles, great brand....

  • sorry posted same comment twice.

  • Brillant! Still trying to work out how you did it, I guess that's part of the magic.

I could use some of that Puppetpusher port right now :-)

  • It's really remarkable Mr. Hiligoss, I'm amazed by the high level of the animation, one can almost forget they are puppets, what frame rate did you use?, and with the special effects and editing, the film is excellent. I love the final twist.

  • That was excelent. I love your work.

  • Thank all! It was a lot of fun to do.

The knight's head is cast from foam latex, and put on a generic body (a bit small for him, it was first used for a samurai) which also happens to be foam latex.

The skeleton has epoxy putty and Sculpey on the head,

over armature wire. The body is built up with epoxy putty and liquid latex.

  • That was great. What did you use to make the puppets?

    Very well animated.

  • Nice job Nick, it's quite good sync for the Swedish voices. I'm impressed, you spend many hours with that animation huh.

  • great movement. great facial expressions too

  • LOVE it!!! Hahaha. That was fantastic. You are the master Nick. my favorite part is when they just start speaking gibberish in the subtitles. And the punchline of course.

Looks gorgeouse too. Love how the wind is blowing in death's robe at the start and the part where blondie is so drunk he misses the bottle when goes to reach for it. you really get the feeling he is wasted. The gel worked really nicely for the water. This should be at festivals!

  • Simply awesome. Peace.

  • Wow Georgous! Thats brilliant animation and cool story.

    Keep it going!

  • Wow, Nick. You are the chosen one. So impressive.

  • That was just superb!!!

So good Nick! And very gripping and funny as well!

  • Absolutely Brilliant!!! What a great story, it felt like far more than 2 minutes long to me because it's so compelling that I hung on every moment of it. Very Impressive!
