Wow, i didn't know Romeo fought Paris. I heard the story a different way. Plus i didn't know they build gold statues of Romeo and Juliet. NOW i know the whole play.

Oh and i agree with @MrBadcon that it was sad how the whole event took like five days! Shakespere is so brilliant though!

I think Romeo is ridiculous because he had been SERIOUSLY depressed over Rosaline, hiding out in the woods, moping around for days, so, so sad that she rejected him, and then he goes to the party hoping to catch a glimpse of Rosaline, sees Juliet and --BAM!! -- he forgets all about Rosaline and falls completely in love with a stranger (and later stalks her home that night and they agree to marry about 2 hours later). wow. I feel bad for Juliet.

But iot's such a SIMPLE PLAY! If Shakespeare hadn't been it's authgor it'd have been thrown in the garbage long ago, wbhich isn't to say it's a bad play but a cliched one--even already by HIS DAY it was considered cliche--and if it weren't for the fact Shakespeare wa the greatest author in the history of Western and perhaps even all Civilization, if he hadn't given the otherwise-simple plot such BEAUTIFUL language and quips...if you need Sparknotes for THIS--FAIL! :p
