  • Its so funny: everyone thought this game was going to suck, but then it rocked.

  • What's with all the dislikes? Did you play Fallout 3? It's not just as good as Fallout 1 and 2, it's much better. Todd Howard, great job, and please keep making amazing games

  • I don't get why some think Todd is dumb?! He is the brain behind Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3...

  • Wow, you all bash and judge someone you don't even know (must be jealousy) anyway Fallout 3 did not hurt Fallout 1 and 2 it only made them better and Fallout 3 is just epic. It's a sequel to a great genre of games. You think all sequels are suppose to be exactly the same as the original? Imagine a sequel to a movie and it was exactly the same as the original that would suck. It's not perfect but I think it vastly improves Fallout games and Fallout 3 might not be Fallout 1 or 2 it is just better!

  • well put. lets be pals

  • WTF Is Wrong With you people, those who actually have a mind would know he has a test room in Morrowind, Oblivion, maybe Fallout 3, dont know, i have it for 360

  • he is a cool guy. I is the mind behind the game.

  • YEESS!!! GOOD GRAPHICS AND GORE!!! I hope they go past the rag-doll models and actually make it able to rip em appart

  • Todd is not a programmer, he's the Executive Producer. He's just paying for the game to be made. Yes, he sounds dumb in this, but then, he's not the one actually typing code to make the game, and he's probably not the one writing the story, or designing the game himself. It's a group of people. Just like the US is a group of people, but we're all represented by a complete and utter moron.

  • Go on, Todd

  • Oh my god. This guy really sounds like, if my mom was forced to improvise and act in a play a "game developer". Seriously. IDIOT

  • ok guys keep in mind that bethesda has done some greart things in the past and that we still have a grualing 18 months to wait for the actual game so lets just hope and pray with a little luck that the game will kick ass. theres a chance dont worry just hope

  • I'm excited for Fallout 3, and played 1 and 2 many times. Actually started playing 2 again after hearing all this new info coming out about 3. I didn't like the Supermutant look, (thought Resident Evil right away) but overall, this is a world that I just can't wait to fall back into. If it sucks, it sucks, but I'm still excited to try myself before I say completely baseless things like "OBLIVION WIT GUNZ LOL"

  • OROFL OBLIVI0NZ0R WIHT GANZ

    sorry, couldn't resist

You are of course right by not judging the game before it's out or you know more... but there are already a lot of things about the game that just sound bad, and that although we know little about it, but it looks like it would get worse with each piece of info we get

  • Lucky fucking hack. Todd your games suck dick. Get humble. Fallout 3 will be a disgrace and Oblivion is for 15 year old nerds.

  • "it's not action game, it's a role playing game - so your stats really matter"

    stats don't make a ROLEPLAYINGgame...

did he say "we HAD to do combat system V.A.T.S."??

"shoot this guy in the head" "shoot this car" - action game

  • Apparently that is "role-playing" to Todd. Shoot his guy in the head, or shoot this car.

It's all about choices in what you want to shoot! It's roleplaying!

  • And those choices even affect how the game goes on!!!!

For example if you shoot that nuclear powered car and it detonates and kills a lot of quest-giving peoplezzzz!!!1111ONEONE

  • This guy is too much of a dork to make a good game

  • how this guy looks and talks makes me kinda angry. i just hate that guy more and more each time i see his face

  • LOL. Just the way he looked when he was saying "It's a role playing game, not an action game"... Hilarious.

  • This game is going to be awesome. It's hilarious the loud minority believes this game will flop.

  • "minority"...

  • so it will be a dumb action rpg with some pseudo-fallout elements in it, but basically it's just oblivion with guns and kicking the fallout canon in the groan

  • More NMA circle-jerk. Moving on.

  • It makes me wonder how a clueless twit like that ever got his job. Here's some great logic:

"Yeah, see we're gonna take this game, which is considered one of the greatest games of all time, and bastardize or change pretty much everything about it that made it good, but we'll throw in some 50's music and a couple of retro billboards to trick you into thinking this game has anything to do with the original."

  • He doesn't sound convinced when he has to insist "... it's a role-playing game..."

  • "It's not an action game, it's a roleplaying game."

Didn't he say that about Oblivion? I spent the majority of my time in pointless irrelevant combat with enemy #23554 in dungeon #241, with no option to roleplay my way through those scenarios. I seriously hope that's not what he means by "role playing" in Fallout 3.

  • To me, he spoke about the VATS targeting system as if they were toying with the idea. He didn't seem to sure that it would be a viable feature that would fit into the framework of the game they were trying to make.

Mark my words. VATS will be removed or simplified before release.

  • For their sake and ours, let's hope you're right.

  • Actually, I am hoping that I am wrong. :)

  • His explanation of the VATS system could have just been shortened to, "It's like bullet time, but it's paused instead of just slowed down." Because that is exactly what VATS is.

  • No, that's Pause.

  • It's close enough that any distinction is for purely academic purposes. On a practical level, they're effectively the same thing.

  • Its also basically the same exact combat system as KOTOR

  • lockepicke, no KOTOR had _phases_ so it was still turn-based to some extent, while things could happen simultaneously in VATS from what I gather in Todd's explanation.

  • it's like bullet pause, just dead-unnecessary and they think they could fool anybody with that being at least a bit like the tactical round based combat we had in Fallout 1 and 2... in fact it's even worse, it's less tactics, and more dumb action, i guess they will add the ability to jump in the air while shooting and then stop in the air to blow off a super mutant _orcs_ head... because that has so much to do with role playing / Fallout

  • Oh. I guess I didn't get that whole "VATS" explanation (and neither does Todd, I think).

Yeah, if VATS is just going to be another bullet time/matrix style gimmick, then VATS will suck. Big time. If Todd *really* wanted to stick as close to the Fallout spirit as possible(from a combat perspective anyway), he would allow for both real-time and turn-based. A nice check-box in the options menu perhaps.

  • yes, like what we had in tactics.. that would be a compromise, but beth$oft won't do it, because it's so oldschool and 10 years old..

they would make heroes of might and magic real time and first person too.
