In situations like this Coaches will always be the first to take the fall. That is why Pete Carrol bolted. Tressel and Joe Pa were caught at vulnerable times with no where to go. I still can't believe there are so many morons out there that think Tressel should be fired. I challenge you to find me a coach that just runs right to the NCAA every time his player breaks an NCAA rule that could affect his eligibility. Tressel isn't paid to go tattle to the NCAA, he's paid to win and to help these kids grow into men. Helping kids grow into men does not include running to the NCAA so that their player gets suspended for 5 games for selling their own property.

What Tressel did was indeed disappointing, but you're not going to convince me or anyone else who is a passionate college football fan that Tressel is the only coach to do what he did. All major programs break or bend the rules to a certain degree. Tressel just happened to get caught. You honestly don't think Bobby Bowden ever knew of his players breaking NCAA rules and not say anything about it and try to take care of it in-house instead? Or any other $EC coach for that matter?
