The earliest surviving language still spoken by Thracians is Romanian. So if you feel thracian maybe you should all learn Romanian since the original thracian language was lost and the slavic languages formed 600 years after the last Roman conquest of Thracian land. Let's just form one big country in Eastern Europe and the Balkns - Romania !!!
yeah I heard that thracians and illyrians "may be" connected....but i feel more illyrian...but since i'm from north eastern kosovo...i feel some thracian in me too aswell...by the way I'm albanian...

in 1991 John Wilkes (Wilkes is the foremost LIVING authority on the Illyrians) said that bosnians are of illyrian decend. ten years after ALBANIAN accademics agreed with him: Kaplan Resuli, Fatos Lubonja, Ardian Qosi and Ardian Vebiu also other experts worlwide like: Paul, Hirt, Weigand, Tomashek, Georgiev, Pushcariu and many others. And then we got the genetic facts from Igenea, genograpic and familytreedna...

@onoaptelunga ... of course the focus is always on the romans and not on the more ancient history, because the Dacian culture was destroyed by Trajan and so from that moment the Dacians become the Romanians and they are a conquered people... they are always interested in exploring their connection to the conquerors than to their roots, or else they would be best friends with Albanians. even the name of their capital "Bucuresti" has no meaning to them, but it means "beautiful city" in Albanian.
@balkancoolhead , you are wrong , my friend and please read bfr talking.
1. Dacian culture was never destroyed. Culture , traditions , art and language (SOME WORDS still used by romanians) are still alive and by the way .. the romans conqured only 15% of Dacia ..
2 .Bucuresti = the name of RO's capital comes from ''shepherd Bucur''
actually the thracians were famoust with their horses and it is possible they to be tipical hourse tribe(according to the sourses) one western european scientist say that they were the connection between asia and europe in ancient time
Greek historian Dionysius says that Prince Aenas led a group of Trojans on a sea voyage. After a long time in rough seas, they landed at the banks of the Tiber River. Not long after they landed, the men wanted to take to the sea again, but the women who were traveling with them didn't want to leave. One woman, named Roma, suggested that the women burn the ships out at sea to prevent them from leaving.
@stogerov from were you know this :O ? But actually i think that the Thracians founded Rome after all as the Romanian historian Nicolae Densusanu claims in his book " Prehistoric Dacia"
I would like to know if Massagetae (a tribe somewhere in Bactria province) were the same with Thracian tribes of Myssians and Getians? Please, if you have any info, tell it to me?
they arentsameMysianslanguage was, in a way, a mixture of the Lydian and Phrygian languages. As such, the Mysian language could be a language of the Anatolian group. Massagetaeans were an Iranian Getae Dacianstwo tribes speaking the same language
Interesant video.

in Lithuanian language we have a word Sarmata!!! and this word means that those who are shameful they are without SARMATA (or without a shame), that is without having a moral code of the old Kingdom of Sarmatia...Lithuanians have another word for a shame GEDA and this one comes from another Balts' Kingdom...Kingdom of Gots (even today for us Gudai are Belorussians)
moesia=a little asia (in Lithuanian language 'maza azia') and Anatolia=the far land of empire (in Lith. 'ana toliai') ...Trachians in Lithuanian language (Trakai) are the people who lives in the cutted forest places (one of Lithuania's capitals were Trakai...this city is now small and close to Vilnius). ATLANTIDA IN LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE MEANS A DELUGE OR A FLOODED LAND
Today, the true thracians are the Romanians (Vlachs). Rest of the thracian people in Eastern and South Eastern Europe have mixed with the slavs, tatars, mongols and turks, and so they've lost their customs and thracian identity. The term "Vlach" is originally an exonym. All the Vlach groups used various words derived from to refer to themselves: Români, Rumâni, Rumâri, Aromâni, Arumâni, Armâni, etc. Vlachs descend predominantly from the Romanised Dacians, Getae, Moesi, Thracians and Illyrians.
thats not 100 percent correct.romanised dacians are probably the foundation of modern day romanians.but other ethnicys form part in modern day romanians ,too such as slavs ,ottomani,petechegens,sachsen.......
i hope your not one of the nationalists who are always unpolite ;)
Of course there are other minorities in Romania, but just a very small percentage of the romanian population. Don't know about him, but being nationalist doesn't make one unpolite. A nationalist is someone who shows devotion to the interests and culture of his/her nation, someone who loves and defends the country and its independence. Cheers!
Vlachs (also called Vallachians, Wallachians, Wlachs, Wallachs, Vláhi, Vlahoi, Olahs or Ulahs) is a term covering modern Latin peoples descending from the thracian population in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Groups that have historically been called Vlachs include modern-day Romanians (including Moldovans), Aromanians, Morlachs, Megleno-Romanians and Istro-Romanians. Since the creation of the Romanian state, the term in English has mostly been used for those living outside Romania.
Thracians inhabited the ancient provinces of: Dacia, Thracia, Moesia, Macedonia, Odrysia, Illyria, Scythia, Sarmatia, Bithynia, Mysia, Pannonia, and other regions on the Balkans and Anatolia (Eastern, Central & Southern part of the Balkan peninsula, Eastern Europe). These regions correspond to Romania, Moldova, Western Ukraine, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Eastern Austria, Eastern Czech Republic, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, and Eastern Turkey.
I believe there was an eastern branch of Thracians also, found in the language called Gilaki named likely from Gilak, a son of Tiras. This name is still found in the southern Caspian region, and was adjacent to the Medes, Madai, Aria...also related to Tiras....
