I love how everyone thinks Hondas are just your average grocery getter. Why do you think people modify Hondas more than any other small car? Probably because they are not JUST any small car. They are very well-engineered, fun to drive, easy to work on, plenty of support, lightweight, easy to motor swap, reliable, handle well, and there is a wealth of information and knowledge out there from other Honda enthusiasts. Before you decide what a "real platform" is, try actually learning something

On top of that: not to add insult to insult, however, the more appealing factor to most people is the fact that they're so cheap. Not trying to knock Honda - very reliable little machines and I would definitely drive one of them before anything on the current American market. Just an FYI, I'm a Subaru driver - if I weren't in an Impreza, I'd probably be in a Honda - or an older Toyota/Nissan.

@theheavensx How is it "piss poor"? Those are all very good reasons for why someone would buy a Civic over - for example - a Mirage or Accent. I have a 3000GT VR4, that's my unreliable go-fast car. My Civic is my reliable DD. I didn't say Hondas were "special", I simply said they were the best economy cars. If you wanna save money on gas and have fun doing it, Honda is the best. And no, they aren't that cheap, the resale on them is relatively high. A Saturn or Corolla would be cheaper.

If you wanna motor swap another econobox to achieve the same performance, than I hope you know a good welder/fabricator because you have a long road ahead of you. And hitting VTEC is actually kinda fun. Sure, boost is faster, but I like the way my car gets louder and pulls harder at 5000 RPM haha

You never really saw other economy cars except for the occasional 4G63T swapped Mitsubishi Mirage. Hondas have always been more popular among sport compact enthusiasts than others

@theheavensx And FYI, You can very easily put a motor in a small hatch which produces around 180 BHP. That's a very good power to weight ratio. Probably the only "econobox" which can put a smile on your face. You want to do the same thing in any other economy car then you are going to have to boost it and/or motor swap it and that is a huge fucking headache, especially if you just want a reliable, fuel efficient DD.
