This is why I thought you were referring to this song. But even though it has a different sound, it's still DnB because it still has the same structural elements, which are a focus on a breakbeat/2-step beat and bass. The only difference with the 'newer' DnB is that it has other synths, a more mid-range centric bass and a simpler beat.

A better analogy would be saying something like a cat is a cat and a yellow cat is still a cat, just more specific. So cat would be the genre and yellow cat would be the sub genre.
