For those of us that want to raise our families in a Louisville with a vibrant, diverse and growing economy the terribly designed downtown ORBP is nothing short of civic suicide.
A small group of very wealthy families have blocked the logical eastern bypass of the city and caused the terrible compromise that will doom Louisville to over 100 years of economic and cultural stagnation. With >60% of Louisvillians opposed to the toll funded downtown ORBP this project is undemocratic, economically detrimental and socially unjust.
Louisville has the potential to be the next mid-size boomtown i.e. Austin or Charlotte. However, our city's incompetent leadership is planning to toll its citizens to build a $3 billion dollar infrastructure project that will build 100 year ramps that exclusively connect to a 1950s style elevated waterfront expressway. Meanwhile we are building a $1/4 billion dollar tunnel to protect a few politically connected families' suburban estates.
Louisville ... we stopped marrying cousins ... like 30 years ago. Won't you consider saving someone else's life? Send them to Louisville; where life doesn't suck as much as in Cincinnati.
I grew up in Cincy near Indy then moved to Virginia, Philly, L.A., Atlanta & now Louisville for work and I am surprisingly enjoying Louisville the most out of all. The people here are SO nice! Louisville is like a better Atlanta - nicer, less congested, variety of minorities-more brown/yellow faces would be nice.
When I worked it L.A. I worked for major label CEO's in entertainment making good money so I was "in" but I will take the genuine niceness of Louisville over crime & "fake" any day
I live in Louisville,Kentucky. But I must tell you that Kentuckians are the mothers of all racists. They will smile to you in stores but very mean to you at work. Kentuckians will rather vote for a horse than to vote for a black man! It is that bad. Kentuckians voted for Bill Clinton but they will never vote for Obama, simply because he is black. If you are black, Kentucky is not a place for you to move to.
Love it. It's time Louisville stuck up for all the great things it has going for it, and dropped this "aw shucks, it's just luvall, k-Y" routine. Take that, ATL.
This is insane. Louisville is NOT a great place to live. Police do NOT enforce noise ordinances. Teenagers run the south and southwest part of the city. Loud car stereos abound.... I've lived in L.A. and the noise level of Louisville is far worse.
The so-called "Atlanta" airport is not even in Atlanta, and if someone drives 2 hours to a job in Atlanta then they probably actually live in the sprawl surrounding Atlanta.
Louisville very likely has the most irritating regional pronunciation of any city in the USA btw.
Louisville is a shithole. Look at my other comments and you'll understand where I am coming from.

This is true of Kentucky at large but not Louisville. Louisville voted for Obama by a landslide.

Are you serious? Where do you live exactly?

It was mostly in jest.
But, anything south of Mason-Dixon line never had a chance.
