The flag run is good for a few maps: I.E. Pitt, Construct, Highground(just to get it beach side). But on maps like Valhalla its just dumb. I mean half the time a person doesn't even realize their flags gone if they were dead when it was grabbed, so then they notice it look for where its bouncing and the whole squad heads that way.. I hate it on sandtrap.. Specially if you just wait for a mongoose to pick you up.. I only flag run if I'm getting shot at.. Otherwise its go the way no one expects.

It was started in MLG and in MLG there's 1-2 places to run a flag per map. And they do that because it goes a lot faster. Mainly on the pit you want to get it out there before the other team respawns. I can see what your saying, and yes sometimes it is good to go stealthy, but in MLG its also important to get the flag out asap.
