  • Maculay turned 30 last week! :D

I love this movie. I saw this when I was 5!

  • I LOVE these movies, they remind me of my childhood! And I think you can never be too old for Disney Movies! They're way better than these new shitty ones.

  • 2:55 DAVINCI CODE ? :O

  • i havent seen this film since i was five... i used to love this movie when i was wee, god thats 10 years :s scary stuff man.

  • I've never seen anyone slip while standing like that

  • 2:50 DUMBLEDORE!!!

  • If your the Guardian of the written word, why the fuck would you allow Twilight to exist?

  • Lol, Mr. Dewey...as in...the Dewey Decimal System. Never noticed that before.

  • @starwolf411 umm.. sort of.. but it's basically a picture book haha but there might be an actual book this was based off of.. have a look round the net maybe? Sorry haha

  • Nostalgia :D

  • I am dying! I haven't had a nostalgia this bad in ages! I had 100% forgot about this movie. I think I was 5!! Or 4 even!! This is one of those movies, or books, stories etc that left a major innpact on me when I was a kid.

  • 3:31 & thats where the fire works begun.

  • 2:10 Can anyone say 'foreshadowing?'

  • i loved this movie when i was a kid. lol one of my all time favourites!!! = )

  • 0:08 He has the same facial expression as Heath Ledger's Joker :P

  • acid trip starts @ 3:31

  • is this a real library i would really like to go there.

  • the cartoon looks nothing like him! that could have made him cute!

  • god this is scary at 3:31-4:57!

  • god tis is scary at 3:31-4:57!

  • harry potter!

  • I remember only liking the live action part.

  • The director of this film is directing "Captain America: The First Avenger". :-D

  • 8:35 - Ooh, Ah'm nekkid.

  • This was my favourite movie as a kid!

  • Lmao, the special effects are hilarious.

  • looking back... this movie blasts me with nostalgia yet i can help but think the people who made this were on acid lol. melting pictures and all haha

  • I feel sorry for Chris Lloyd's character when the kid said he wasn't looking for a book. He probably doesn't get a lot of young people in his library because he was so enthusiastic about the kid showing up. And then... "I'm not looking for a book, that's what I've been trying to tell you." If you listen closely you can hear the librarian screaming in agony to gibbering inarticulate attempts voice his disappointment.

  • I loved this movie and the book.. Thanks for posting.

  • @blissfuldreamer06 There is a book to? Is the movie like the book?

  • @Starwolf411 yeah, there's a book. you should check it out. i just read it and decided to watch the movie. the movies pretty close to the book. i haven't watched the whole movie yet, so i dont know. i don't believe the dripping paint and paint tidal wave were in the book....but yeah. :)

  • The beginning in the library was the creepiest part of this movie...

  • saw this on tv today and was like I KNOW THIS MOVIE! haha man i used to love this as a kid i thought it was cool

  • I loved this movie !!

  • Richard is such a cute cartoon character

    P.S i want a talking pirate book

  • I love this movie but I havent seen it in forever.

  • as a kid the animation looked much better lol

  • I've always wanted to go to that library when I was small XD I still do! XD

  • the school library, duh

  • Adventure is Patrick Stewart. I'm sure someone's mind was just blown.

  • i just came.

  • the paint-dragon looks like a bad acid trip

  • OMFG i haven't watch this movie since I was like 6 years old. One of my favs XD

  • wow,I remember this!. they would show this to around christmas or some big break that we would take. This and cats don't dance, after i saw this i wanted to go to the libary.

  • where'd he learn all these statistics if it wasn't from books at the library?

  • @ultimateSpagety Newspapers have statistics in them, as do news magazines like Time and Newsweek. You can also get them from television (I mean, come on, when isn't there some news show on television that could give a paranoid person the impression that the world was trying to kill him or her?).

  • funny "paint a cartoon" when the paint hit him he turned into a cartoon HAHA!

  • he shoulda been a salesman not a librarian

he coulda sold wood to a forest

  • this kid is on a serious shroom trip, jesus.

  • @tiertity and u ain't kidding! XD

  • I'd want to turn into a cartoon, and then find some way back toturning into a real person.

  • i wish my library had a really awesome mural like that. this movie brings back so many memories.

  • Is it a deal matey? *Clunk* Woooh Im naked! - Pirate Book.. Tee Hee

  • lol this looked some much more realistic when i was little lolll. still love it though. x)

  • it's not that easy getting a library card now...

  • 88 MILES PER HOUR!! LOL

  • That is one beautiful library. I want to go there.

  • @dizzydesichica57 I know right! The library in my town is NOTHING compared to that one!

  • @dizzydesichica57 me too:-)

  • lats better sound lan pt1

  • the paint scene is the highlight of this film.

  • Dr. Jekyll looks like Christian Bale in that ceiling picture lol

  • THE EXIT SIGN. Hells yeah

  • Dude, that librarian is just like mine. She gets all freaked out whenever someone comes in and is recommending stuff to them while acting like different characters. One time I checked out Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and she did this crazy spot-on impersonation of Dumbledore. EVERYONE who was within hearing range either burst out laughing or looked at her like she was insane.....which she very well may be.

  • @gaaraxluvr she. sounds. AWESOME.

  • Did Chris Lloyd ever win an Oscar for anything?

  • id laugh if the librarain in the kids future self

    i love that... im...im a cartoon!

    you... are an illastartionnnn

  • Some guy in a shabby overcoat gave this kid acid before he entered the library.......

  • The kid would be a cartoon if he were transported into the world of television, but since he's in the world of books, he's an illustration. It makes sense.

  • @moonie137

But the irony is that a cartoon is a series of illustrations.....

He's an illustration either way. :)

  • lol for some odd reason this movie brings back more memories of me and my dad driving home from the movies then watching the movie lol

  • The librarian reminds me of Meen

  • Ooh, I'm naked. Hee-hee!

  • That librarian has "Child Molester" written all over him.

  • @zarteen Wha? No, he doesn't!

  • @zarteen

lmfao that's what I was saying too. He's definitely a child molestor. No question about it.

  • christopher lyod is weird in this movie

  • imagine how much cooler this would be with todays animation..

  • he wants to rape the boy

  • I watched this book when I was a little kid and when I watched it again 15 years later I realized that it hypnotized me because i read every book referenced in this movie

  • lol, I jsut realized that the name plate on the desk says Mr. Dewey. As in Melvil Dewey?

  • @EMCTB I never did figure out the Dewey decimal system :( , sad

  • @DigiCamcorder You aren't the only one, believe me. I still haven't, either- then again, I hardly visit the library to develop the need to do so! >< ... that's also sad. u_u

  • i havnt seen this movie in years

  • 0:01 i would just hit that guy and yell snap out of it !!! XD

  • "Oh shit. There's the fuckin' phone." (insert grumble here)

  • The Halloween Tree is better.

  • lol @ 8:32

  • I'm...I'm a cartoon!!"

Lol. Love his face when he says that. I'd be freaked too if I suddenly looked at my hands and found that they had gone all cartoony.

  • Comment removed

  • You know, it's kind of ironic how the librarian said the line 'here is your passport to the magical and quite unpredictable world of books" when he hands Richard his new library card, and then Richard literally gets transported to the 'magical and quite unpredictable world of books' when he is engulfed in the paint from the atrium and turned into an illustration and his library card is what gets the books to help him and what allowed him to get out of the book world later.

  • @SDBluemoon i think thats the point...

  • I always loved those litlle walking books :)

  • you know he didnt fall right he was just on a bad acid trip :)

  • they couldn't have picked a better richard then macaulay in the movie he was amazing

  • 5:06-5:09

So the movie is about you?

  • Wait, how did he slip on the floor? He never moved his feet.

  • @HyaenusDominae Yes he did, only a little...but he did.

  • @emjaybay18 Hmm ... I don't know. I'd like to believe you (since I'd like to live in a world where we obey the laws of physics), but I'm far too cynical.

  • The thing about movies like this is the laws of physics hardly apply...

  • @Slimer2x3 You'd think they'd still apply as long as he was still in the real world, though.

  • That's what I'm wondering.

  • Dumbledore is on the ceiling

  • 4:36 for some odd reason it reminds me of gushers snacks just gushing out like in those commercials...now It's making me kind of hungry

  • Yeah. Classic movie when I was a kid

  • "Through there..."

No, not the non-fiction section! ^^

  • could not have given the poor boy the phone at the desk eh? lol

  • hes was just too pissed off because he didnt come into the library for books! :D

  • Anyone think Chris Lloyd would make a good Dumbledore?

  • @Ereldor you know, i THINK he would -nods- i mean, he's already played a mysterious, but helpful magician of sorts. It's a shame that it's too late for that right now, but yeah, definitely, he would make a great one

  • @Ereldor yes! ..he's the perfect age for the role

  • @Ereldor Oh, absolutely. :)

  • @Ereldor I think everyone who reads this comment, has watched harry potter, and knows who christopher lloyd is agrees to this. :)

  • @Ereldor AHAHAH YES!

  • @Ereldor yep.

  • @Ereldor i do!!!!!!

  • ok call me crazy but I see a striking resemblance between Christopher Lloyd's performance here and Heath ledger's performance as the Joker in Dark Knight.

  • now that you've mentioned it - yeah. props for the observation, my friend. haha

  • thanks so much dude i loved this movie as a kid.......ooooold memories

  • @smokingskull22 haha same

  • Ahahahaha I love that pirate book. "ooh, I'm naked!" Ha, he's a book.

  • This movie was an important part of my childhood, it had all the things I loved as a kid, adventure and books~

And I love the scene with the animation transformation~

  • IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZAR!!

  • 2:58 and the adventures...BEGINS!

  • christopher lloyd made this film, he's the man!

  • puto video feo

  • you'd think a boy as smart as he is would have a library card lol...

  • @bnatrl88 He probably doesn't go to libraries because he feels there's an %80 percent chance of getting a tumor if a book falls on your head.

  • @bluethunder25 Ha-ha, maybe. Or he's probably never been in that neck of the woods before. I get the feeling that a lot of people don't come there, and that might explain the librarian's eccentricity somewhat.

  • @bnatrl88 I don't have one, and I'm pretty smart. Well, I'm in college, so that should say something. Besides, I don't need to go to a library; I buy all my books, and by now I have enough to open my own small library.

But I won't lend them out; they're like my kids, really, and I'm the overprotective mother that everyone hates.

  • @bnatrl88 Yeah, but he'd probably worried about getting a paper cut.

  • @bnatrl88 being overly cautious makes you smart? If he was smart he'd already have known that everything is a risk.

  • @shallwethen when i was speaking of his intelligence i wasn't talking about his phobia of life...i was talking about his book knowledge

  • @bnatrl88 He has NO book knowledge.

  • @shallwethen all those statistics he knows?? you wouldn't consider that book knowledge? lol not being sarcatic...i'm genuinely asking...

  • @bnatrl88 I get you now, book knowledge consists of statistics. I think I was just confused by the many genres in all those books that exist, I just don't notice the statistics they make sure to add in every knowledgeable one out there. My bad.

  • Who cares if it doesn't look as good as it does these days. At least it's a good movie and isn't all about the animation. These days it's the opposite with good animation and special effects and bad plot lines and scripts. Well, a lot of the movies are like that, anyway. Not all of them.

  • This is one of my favorite films, it was a great intro to the books Richard travels through.

I've heard some critics say that the movie intended to get kids interested in reading, but ultimately failed. I disagree - I think it did work for some, it just did so more subtlely than would be expected (it never said "READ THIS!")

  • its my favorite film and this movie did get me into reading fantasy more than ever

  • i used to have both the book and the movie but something happend to them v.v

  • my love of books began with this movie, im pretty sure. it's an all-time fav!

  • I WANT IT

    in german..

    on BluRay

    Y_Y

    I love that movie *cry*

But no.. germany only sells that thing as VHS Y_Y

  • I Love this Moive plus seeing doc form back to the futcer as the voice of the page master and the libary

  • Two points:

1)The melting paint dragon is only exceeded in creating more kids' nightmares by THE Nightmare in Little Nemo.

2)The Pagemaster's beard is so boss.

  • The beard I think is supposed to look like that. Notice how the thing he's holding is a scroll, his cloak looks like a scroll and his hat also looks like a scroll. The beard, I think is supposed to look like a group of scrolls. I do agree with point one, though. The paint dragon is kind of freaky, and probably did scare a ton of kids back then.

  • I used to think that the paint scene was so cool! Now...Well, it looks like it was done in the 90s. Goodbye, fond memories of how awesome it was.

  • Yeah, exactly.

  • You know, I just noticed that Richard has two catch phrases. They're 'This is not good. This is definitely not good at all,' and 'Look! There's the exit!' They all seem to be said like 15 times each in this movie and all of them in the same way. Well, 'Look! There's the exit!' is said more, but still.

  • ahhahh lol true

  • Dang, I love the look on Richard's face when he says 'I'm...I'm a cartoon!' He has this look that says 'Oh my god, this is so freaky,' that also makes him look weirded out, and confused. It's the perfect look for that moment.

  • brought back good memories

  • epic memorys

  • 8:32 LMAO "ooh I'm naked"

  • lol so its not jst me that hears that:D funny

  • Oooh, May I live in that library please?

  • "Where's the son of a sea biscuit, knocked me from me crows nest!? Where's he be!? Where's he be!?" Dang, Adventure, chill out! He didn't mean to knock you over! But I thought that line was funny.^^

  • Ooh, I'm naked

  • oh god [: I havent watch this movie since I was 4

  • I remember watching this in the 2nd grade and I'm in college now. Wow, this brings back memories. It's amazing how cartoon animation has evolved over the years.

  • ugh I so want that to happen to me.

  • the books, the books

  • The paint dropping gave me nightmares when I was younger...now I see how fake and cheesy the paint is now with the computer animation back then. I'm not so scared.

  • it never was suppose to look real the paint is there to cartoonise everything hints forth the more arty transformation to cartoon unless u take under heaven consideration ur thinking dnt insult a classic tubachick17

  • THIS IS THE FUCKING MOVIE IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR 4 FUCKING YEARS!YES!

I can die a peaceful man.

  • Hahaha, good for you !

  • Yeah...it wasn't as great as I remember it to be lol.

  • They usually aren't :-(

  • @popcorngirl321 so because of another critics review, that should change ones view of an older movie? O.o wut?

  • @GBallaJ It's an excellent movie. I only wish more people would take its message to heart, and read more books.
