I wonder why I bought Gone in 60 Seconds 1 of the 1978 film which is the right film on the right disc but when I bought the 3rd it, has The Junkman and not Gone In 60 Seconds 3 Firebird Tornado. Oh well sent email so hopefully will be sorted.Gr8 films otherwise!
I didn't know Gone in 60 Seconds was origanally a US 1970s film.
Wow!!! Looks brilliant I've only seen the Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie version as I live in the UK I might see if I can get hold of these mentioned youtube movies, that are on youtube I should say! Apparently someone sadly died whilst making the origanal Gone in 60 Seconds so I read.
Hopefully the Gone in 60 Seconds 2 footage that exists will be edited together and released someday soon. This clip indicates this would have been a spectacular, visionary, ground breaking film if it had been finished.

LMAO! Wow. Wow. Good god this is bad! Wish they could release it so it'd hit the bottom of the IMDB bottom 100. Proof all that coke from the 80s would actually get some dreck like this a budget. Embarrassing.
I wonder what they ever did with this car. I know Denise Halicki still has Eleanor from the original Gone. Would love to see it one day, we are building a clone of her, but ours really is a 73. I would have loved to see this movie finished. The pumpkins are funny, he must have had one heck of a sense of humor....Gotta love how there's an Eleanor in this too....and gotta have the stoners too.
Gone in 60 Seconds II, the follow up to Gone in 60 Seconds. This scene was shot in Kenmore, NY, the same place the tower fell. We went there just last week with our Eleanor clone (we have pics in a slideshow on our channel, she's a clone of Halicki's Eleanor, not the one from the remake to be clear), it was eerie and cool at the same time. It's changed enough that it was a little hard to figure out where this door was, some of the buildings were repainted and stuff, but it's still there.
do you have the clips shot in dunkirk and jamestown ny. these all bring back old memories of the sets 20 years ago. seeing dunkirk as it was when i was a kid
No, I don't personally have any clips of what we shot in Dunkirk or in Jamestown (nor in Buffalo, where the water tower scene was shot). You can find the footage that was pieced together as a long chase scene (around 20 minutes I think?) in those areas, however, if you get the "Deadline Autotheft"/"Gone In 60 Seconds 2" DVD. It's not a great DVD overall, but there's some footage in there that you'd recognize. It was a crazy summer... I think you can get it on Amazon if you're interested.
This is a surreal clip to watch because I was on that set every day almost 20 years ago when we filmed it. I was a camera man on the film and we seemed to cheat death everyday. Toby wasn't so lucky, obviously. He was standing right next to me when the tower went down prematurely (my camera was on a hi-hat at the base of the tower). Toby ran to my left, 90 degrees from the tower's fall. The cables snapped, somehow missed me, took out the phone pole, tracking Toby perfectly. We know the rest
@Pelicam13: Poor Toby. I kinda wish he had lived, because I would have loved to have seen the sequel to the original Gone in 60 Seconds. I'm a big fan of the first one.
There's a point in the G2 footage where you can see the water tower fall, that's the event that killed Toby. Tower started to fall, everyone exceptToby ran one way, he ran the other, was hit by a falling phone pole. used about 300 cars...
I know Toby's brother, worked on the estate settlement, got it from the horse's mouth... the falling telephone pole hit him. I also saw the last photo taken of him as he was loaded into the ambulance. The head injury involved most of his skull, he only lived a few minutes. Toby was a great guy, shoulda been more careful
Sounds to me as if you're talking about the crappy "remake", where what was *supposed* to be a GT500 was actually a design by the art director that showed what GT500s *would* have looked like if Ford and Shelby had had the good taste to ask him to help out...
It's even sadder than you said - "stunt gone wrong" covers it, i guess, but they weren't shooting; it was a crew meeting to go over the next shot before they did it, and a cable supporting a water tower (with three legs cut; it was supposed to come down in the next shot)broke and the tower fell on them...
Interesting to see "Toby" Halicki as a cop in this one...
True, the crew was planning for the next shot when this incident unfolded and the tower went down prematurely. I was a cameraman on this movie, so I should know. We had 5 cameras set up and when the support cables snapped and the tower began to fall, we were able to roll on 3 of the cameras. Toby was standing right next to me when the tower began to fall. The snapping cables somehow missed me and managed to cut a telephone pole down which crushed him. Strange to watch this 20 years later...
There was never a script on the set. It was all in the director's head. We shot all the action/chase/crash sequences first, with plans to do the dialog scenes (the plot!) later. Only dialog we shot was of those 2 stoner guys with the lizard. Supposedly, the story had it that the Slicer was supposed to be a car that some local kids had built as a prank on Halloween, and it got out of hand. Of course, that part of the movie was never realized, since Toby died shooting the tower sequence.
I don't remember what kind of car chassis it was built on, but I remember seeing the Slicer in the shop when they were putting on the finishing touches -- I think it was either steel plate or cast iron, about an inch thick... It was a monster.. Plus, the stunt driver only had a very tiny window in the front to look out of (only a few inches wide) -- it's painted black, so you can't see it well in the clips. It was also SUPER hot inside the Slicer; the poor stunt driver nearly sweat to death.
Yeah that thing looks dangerous, but still, the Slicer is pretty bad ass. Rush hour traffic wouldn't be a problem when you can drive right under them!
Yeah, jimmyjimjimjuru, LOL. Now if I could only play Need for Speed: Most Wanted Black Edition, Need for Speed: Carbon Collector's Edition, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix, and other similar games with such a car.
So, if you could, would you like to help me finish the sequel aloong with the people that originally had made it, please, Pelican1? I have some ideas that are in my head but, sadly, I lack the automotive genius and experience as well as the necessary requirements for there to be putting myself into finishing the film. At any rate, the movie needs to kind to continue. I would like to discuss how it would happen if you guys would like. Please send me a message, okay? Thank you.
