    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the original version but this is nice to. Btw this is random but apperently ppl from Europe think americans are fat... U realize that the Chinese have higher obesity than us and Iran sucks. That we can all agree on

  • Not sure EVERYONE agrees that Iran sucks ( I do though). If there is a nation out there that no one outside that country really likes, it would have to be North Korea.

  • lady and the tramp inspired me to find out what this song was called! its going on my ipod like NOW

  • my second name is MacKenzie it's soo weird my clan years ago was 1 of the biggest!!!

  • I love Loch Lomond. I love Scotland.

  • I think Scotland got its Independence around the 10th century?? Correct me anyone if i'm wrong.

  • @wyomikey65: No. It was _united_ (there was no one to gain independence from) in the 800s. It then had to fight two wars of independence to fend off the English, in the 13th and 14th centuries. It merged with England in the 1600s (albeit not politically), and the Kingdoms of England and Scotland ceased to exist in their union (into the Kingdom of Great Britain) in the early 1707. Scotland has never actually gained independence.

  • and nearly all those that survived were sent onto boats to Nova Scotia. the death of scotland. but not the scot. ALBA NUADH AN AIGH!

  • im slowly liking The Real McKenzies more every timee i listen too them

  • It doesn't matter where you're from. especially if you're buying the next round.

  • Nerra36. Scotland and Ireland are very close,..though some may say they're not. Many Irish came to Scotland during the Potato Famine as well many Scots escaped English Rule to Ireland. There is more annomosity toward the English. Scots and Irish both fought the English for Scotlands Freedom.

  • so... do the Scottish hate the Irish or what? I don't really know any history.

  • @Nerra36 Nah, im scottish and I fucking love the irish! Scots and Irish are the best ppl in the world! Fukk the English n the queen!

  • @skudzie Suck an egg yank! Keeping bigotry alive I see!

  • Cheers from Portland, OR, USA!!

  • The Best Bands Either Are or Were at one point, On Fat Mike's Label :D I just cannot wait for their new album ^^

  • For me, as an American, I take pride in my scottish ancestry because it gives me an identity deeper then the one hundred and thirty years my family's been on this continent. Also I take pride because Highlanders were badasses!!!

This is the best that I have heard from The Real MacKenizes. Scottish folk music is beautiful and very meaningful. I love it!!

  • @FullMetalShaman

I just wanna say that Real McKenzies are wery powerful band. I saw them in Skopje (macedonia) few days ago and i can say they kick ass. I' just want to add that every time i listen to a Scotish song i fill the pain that this proud nation suffer over the century's. It remind me of pain that my nation suffers from similar idiots like your southern neighbors, specially from greeks. Thanks Scotland for your beautiful music. Greatings from proud Macedonian. MacedoniaScotland forever

  • @sase78 BRAT NELI SE DENESKA? :D

  • @FullMetalShaman well the real McKenzies deserve every view

  • cheers from novascotia.

  • Nationality is not where you were born or where you've moved to, it's what's in your heart and soul :3 If I'm mistaken, I'd like to know how I, as a gypsy, should relate since we have no countries :P

  • there from my City,Vancouver B.C

  • Like this song... greats from germany

  • "God made Scots just a wee bit better."

  • I hate to bust everybody's bubble but this is canadian shit

  • One of the best covers. The studio version kicks ass. In live ok they are drunk or whatever.

  • @pxi2001, thanks we ( americans with scottish heritage) needed some one to say that

  • Great version, good pipes. My favorite cover.

  • it sounds like the anthem of 1.FC Köln

Mir ston zu dir FC Kölle

  • rofl lets start a discussion where kölle has stolen its song oO

    ruhrpottdepp...

  • I would not judge if I was in your shoes. Your grammar sucks. It's "what you're saying", not "what your saying". Get an "educashion"

  • alba nuadh.

  • Look my dads side of the family are Scottish, my dad was born and raised in England and so was I. But I feel a lot closer and more proud of my Scottish heritage then I do my English heritage. I don't see nothing wrong with people expressing their heritage no matter if they live in Ireland, Canada or even Scotland.

  • @sophieliz1990 amen bro... i'm of scottish, irish and scotsirish heritage and born and raised in north carolina. i am DAMN PROUD of my heritage and make no bones about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sophieliz1990 Very well said. My dad's side of the family is very Scottish, mum's side is English. I was raised in Minnesota and have celebrated my heritage since I was little and have been an avid Scottish dancer for years. It shouldn't matter WHERE you are when celebrating where you came from.

  • @sophieliz1990 Or America. There are a few of us down here

  • @sophieliz1990

lol "even scottish". You make it sound like it's a bad thing. Are you Mark Renton?

"It's shite bein' scottish! Some people hate the English. I don't, they're just wankers. We on the other hand, are colonized by wankers!"

  • @sophieliz1990 i agree everyone in my family on my dads side was irish or scottish until my grandma moved from ireland to america and my grandpa moved from scotland to america but i love my heritage more then my american heritage i dont like living here

  • Comment removed

  • My childhood in punk, AWESOME!!! I respect ya John McDermott but... This is another level X3 As on the debate on the Celtic identity, Irish and Scots had a HEAVY influence in Canada, specially the maritimes and Quebec. Here in Quebec, there are more people of Irish heritage than british (1. French, 2. Irish and 3.English). Celtic is in our music and folklore... Let's not fight over our roots or sentiments of belonging, but let's celebrate it!

  • @acidcandycherry

    absolutely marion :D

  • Who cares where they're from? They sing well and I like 'em. Now, for a wee tipple!

  • there canadian, now go jump of a sharp side of munroe

  • haha this is a quality cover !!!!!!!!!!

  • Copper wire was invented when two scots were fighting over the same penny.

  • Bahahahaha....seig heil..im guessing ur a home counties boy?? Hmmm...

  • The Kings and Queens of our shared history were Titled as King or Scots, not King of Scotland, I have have met A man who's family had been in France since the days of the Jacobites who's family still considered themselves as Scots to this day. Being Scots is a state of mind and heart, I have met better Scots in America and Canada than many I have met in Scotland.

  • Anyone who says they dislike Americans has probably never met an American from outside of a major tourist trap. Lovely people for the most part who would give you the shirt off their back if they thought it would help you. As for them not being scots .. look at the names of places in the old states, look in the the shenandoah valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Good music by the way lol.

  • I most certainly agree with you here. I'm from Ayr, and I think by and large, a lot of Americans are misrepresented by their government and the annoying tourists they seem to ship out here. Having visited the US a few years ago, I can say they're a pretty good lot, the religious fanatics and overbearing ignorant tourists aside. ;)

Also, if someone wants to honour their heritage, be it Scottish, Irish, whatever, let them. I don't see any harm in it.

  • Look here mate I dislike the Americans as much as the next guy but you cant deny the fact that they are Scottish be it by blood or birth, now they may not be a born and raised Scot such as your self and my self but they are Scots none the less, and to refuse them that is well frankly pathetic and infantile

  • I do not regard americans as scots by an stretch, and I think it is ridiculous for someone who has never even set foot on scotland to call themselves a scot.

Oh and there is no such thing as scottish blood, the scots are not a race and are not regarded so through anthropology etc. The scots are racially identical and geneticlly indistinguishible from the english, irish, welsh etc.

The scots are seperated by culture, community, geography and society.

americans share none of thee traits

  • @kingdomofdalriada... and I regard scottish-americans as being scottish, so it doesn't really matter how YOU see them. The fact still remains: if somebody has a scottish heritage then who are you to stop him from expressing it? plus, the geography thing is a stupid point because if a scottish guy and a scottish girl move from scotland and have a baby, he'll still be scottish regardless of what you are "regarding" him to be (plus, there are scottish communites in america with scotish culture)

  • All the matters is how we scots perceive ourselves and other and having lived in scotland every moment of my life I know for a fact that every scots I have had this conversation with, does not regard americans as scottish.

Infact only last week I had workmates coming back from canada, and while they loved the country and people, they were intensely irritated by all the pseudo wannabe scots.

This is the general consensus of the scots.

  • @kingdomofdalriada that's pretty much their problem... I don't like many of my fellow countrymen and I really don't like the ones who live abroad since they are not like us back home and a lot of times they really tend to be "pseudo", but that doesn't change the fact that they have the same heritage as I have and it's their right to sport it, even if I don't like some of the ways they do it in... it's their way of trying to honor their roots and you should give them credit at least for trying

  • What does 'honouring heritage' mean ?

My father is irish, I am not thouigh I am scottish as that is where I was born and raised.

I don't feel the need to honour my "irish heritage". Nor do I feel the need to call myself an irish scot.

Many english people in liverpool have irish ancestors and I have never came across any english man who has called themselves "irish english"

Maybe we are more down to earth this side of the pond ?

  • But i have met people in glasgow who say they are irish even if their family left Ireland generations ago. The term I used means to remember where you are from... it's not such an evil thing to try and remember your roots. I'm irish and I've seen a lot of scots living here who still call themselves scots and a lot of irishmen in scotland who call themselves irish so why wouldn't someone with irish/scottish ancestors do the same thing in america, germany or china?

  • Havig lived in scotand my whole life I have never come across any scot who said they were irish. How can you honestly call yourself irish or scottish when you are american?, as I said I have an irish father, I would never call myself irish, it is unthinkable to me. and having lived in ireland I know for a fact that the irish do not consider americans as irish.

Instead of saying but why and what if. why dont you just listen tohow the people in ireland and scotland percieve themselves & others ?

  • And I lived all my life in irleland and came across such people. Btw, have you heard of an ethnic group called ulster-scots? they came to northern ireland a few centuries ago, but since they were scots, they are still considerd to be part scottish (look it up, it's "official")... they're not the same as you just like people who left ireland generations ago are not the same as me, but they have the right to claim some irish/scottish roots regardless how people from here think about them

  • Have you never paid attention sport for instance in this country?

Apparently, most Celtic fans are Irish (So they say, their da's uncle's dogs owners granda). Seen one Saltire in my life on a visit to Parkhead. I'm ashamed, for them.

On that note, those fans need to face up to the fact that Celtic are a Scottish Club, playing in the Scottish Premier League.

    Not Irish, give it up.

  • mfctc,

Then feel free to take that up with them on a Celtic Football video.

  • Or, going by the nature of the comments, i'll keep it here.

    Shame of Scotland.

  • mftc,

I agree with you. So I really dont see who you are conversing with.

  • That therefore works both towards me and you.

  • Aiden McGeady is a perfect example of these so-called Scotsmen. His granny once had a pint of guiness... turncoat bastards

  • @Kingwood000 Guiness is Irish stout, not Scottish, so the (lack of) drinking Guiness has nothing to do with being Scottish.

Besides, I live in the Netherlands, and there's a pub downtown serving Guiness and Murphy's Irish Red, and it's not even an Irish pub...

  • I think part of this honoring heritage business in part comes from America's relative youth as a nation. I believe that other parts of the world tend to have a strong and established cultural-national identity whereas I don't get that feeling in America. I find general consumer based American culture boring and shallow. I have never been to Scotland but I can tell that you guys have something special over there. Although I am not from Scotland, I feel like it's where I belong, not where I'm from

  • I do feel a need to qualify a part of my previous statement concerning the consumer based American culture boring so as to avoid confusion and offence. I do find it boring and shallow but this does not mean that I find all Americans and their respective sub-cultures boring and shallow. There is a lot of wonderful stuff too like Appalachian music, blues, jazz, creole culture, and all the like. I find that wonderful and fascinating and the people are brilliant as well. It's the MTV TMZ crap I hate

  • Couldn't agree with you more.

  • "scottish-americans as being scottish"

they re not scottish, they are american

  • @02xfal

If a Scottish guy and a Scottish girl move from Scotland to America or Canada and have a baby, then the baby would be American or Canadian. What's wrong with that? The kid's not going to be Scottish. His culture will be that of the country he / she grows up in. And he should be proud of that whilst acknowledging his ancestry.

  • @02xfal These same nincompoops get on several Scottish music sites yapping at Americans and Canadians who wish to honor their Scottish ancestry. They seem to be under the mistaken impression that they speak for all of Scotland. I very much doubt they express the views of the majority of Scots. The ones I met over there were pleased that folks across the pond still revered their roots and honored their distant kin. None of us would want to claim kin if all Scots were as surly as them.

  • lol I got here because of the Hey Arnold movie. The sing in it: you take the high road and ill take the low road,

  • Damn Straight "marchofsiants", If you are of Scottish decent then your a Scot my books because the fact of the matter is that someone in your family was once a child of our fine land. And You "Scottishnationalist" where exactly do you get off telling that bloke he isn't Scottish? So Please mate don't speak on behalf of us Scots because frankly your an insecure Arsehole and your giving us a bad name.

  • Testicularsound, you know fine well that the vast, vast majority of us scots do not consider americans as scottish.

an american calling themselves a scot is ridiculous, I for one tend to agree with scottishnationalist

  • we listened to this in band class!!! Me and my friend started the MOSH!!!

  • fuckin luv this version. glad ya uploaded it.

  • It doesn't matter where you are born, If you have Scottish blood you should be proud.

Courage and balls through and through.

Allways the first in to the thick of the fight.

Used & abused by our southern neighbours since 1746.

  • I am not scottish blood but that is neither here nor there for me in the sense i have the utmost respect for the scottish and their culture but most of all.....the courage as you rightly stated. I love the pipers and the sounds (put the shits up many a foe). My partner is scottish and a fine woman she is to me. Scotland the only ones to defeat gurkhas i believe? Enough said.....from an englishman. peace:-)

  • @RagnarOneEye i myself was born in germany .... my father is a scottish who joined the US army ..... but although im only a halfbred im very proud of my heritage .... espacially as it grants u enormous stranght and courage xD

  • @RagnarOneEye Its been a while since ive visited my birthplace in ireland or those of my father's side in scotland... and i just want to say... it might be about time the other half of my family broke from those theivin bastards to my north and your south

  • @RagnarOneEye before 1746 my brother, think of Braveheart

  • @RagnarOneEye My momma's a Wallace and I'm DAMN proud.

  • Sick of people who aren't from Scotland wearing kilts and being proud of what they are? If you're a proud Scotsman it doesn't matter what country your from. I think those who aren't from Scotland but embrace their heritage are more Scottish than the cunts who were born and raised there and hate Scotland (which I've dealt with a lot of)

We all need to be proud of what we are, despite where we're from. We're all the same.

Oh and also, Freedom and independence for all Celtic nations!

  • You may not, but there are 10 times as many of us living outside Scotland and We don't have to kiss english ass to like you

  • Wwhat is this "us", as I said you are not scottish.

And for the record the prime minister is scottish and so are most of his cabinet ministers.

  • here mate im just as scottish as you, was born here and ive lived here all my life and you need to just shut the fuck up cause all your doing is making a mockery of all scots with your narrow minded shitty attitude. so what if they wanna embrace their scottish heritage?! who gies a fuck? im proud other cunts want to be a part of my country, shows how good a country it is, well for the most part anyway...

  • Eire For the win

  • Actually yes I am. I was born in Coatbridge just east of Glasgow. 6 years in her Majestys service and Parliament both say I am. but a bar stool loving lagger like you wouldn't know anything about being a Scot.

  • Leesen hae, "scottishnationalist", ye cannae spik fir all Scottish fawk. No Scot can choos whair they wis bairn.

  • @marchofsaints STOP WRITING LIKE THAT. No Scot writyes or speaks like that, so stop making a fucking fool of yourself and dont lecture us Scots on how we identify ourselves and others. If ytou were not born and bred in scotland, then you are not scottish so FUCK OFF.

  • @marchofsaints and you canny speak english

  • what about me? im a canuk and my last name is McNaughton...we been to scotland and we;ve seen our clans castle... SCOTLAND FTW (for the win)

  • You are not scottish you are canadian. You do not belong in a clan, because clans have ceased to exist for over 200 years, are there any other ridiculous stereotypes you woiuld like exude.

You are canadian and you would never be regarded as a scot by us natives. You are not culturally scottish, you were not born and raised in scotland, you are canadian

  • it was just a joke bro. i was just pullin your leg

  • @scottishnationalist thats so funny because im of scottish decent and i love in america. when i went there i would be walking down the street and natives would ask me for directions....they mustve thought i was scottish....

  • Thenetwork, have you maybe ever thought that the natives were asking you directions because the scots are white and so are you ?

Have you ever thought that I am not an idito and your story is a lie, becuase why would natives be asking for directions in their own towns and cities ?

  • I've found that dragging the bait slowly across the bottom works sometimes for me too.

  • @kingdomofdalriada its not a lie because im pretty sure the natives are the only ones there who would speak with a scottish accent/brogue. I also have strawberry blonde hair which is apparently more common in scotland than anywhere else. so that could be another reason. I didnt call you an idiot. And dont call me a liar. Thanks

  • Sounding a tad Racist there

  • who's sounding racist?

  • my earliest family in america came here from scotland in 1647 looking down that family tree i see nothing but natural born scots. I visited scotland in 2004 and it was the single best experience of my life. I'm proud of my heritage.

  • hey 24934637, your a mouthfull of shite

  • Only Scots could be racist against themselves. And I am Scottish. ;)

Love The Real McKenzies. They're coming to Glasgow in January! :D

  • New age take on an old favorite. I view it as taking another photo of the same old subject from a different angle.

  • Geile Musik und deswegen ist die Stimmung beim FC auch so einzigartig.

  • Up the Scots!

  • listen up ye wee bugger, its the same song remixed with "rock" same lyrics and all you just dont understand it do ye? if you watched this then why nasty comments to be put down?

  • I understand it, it's just a bag of shite.
