@Austin393 lol he's much more than that right? wat a joke. plenty of artists welcome the dj moniker who are light years better than gillis and who are actually creative, so i dunno why he would shun it. you're right he sucks too much to be a dj.
@HesOneBruv Ha this coming from the fool who has videos posted of himself flexing with a t shirt over his face and in negative effect. Let me think... Get the fuck outta here.
interviewer is too opinionated and tries to be too hip to be taken seriously. really puts his foot in his mouth with how comfortable he thinks he is with questions he's asking, forgeting why he's asking them to begin with.
The first time I heard Girl Talk I thought it was just another mindless mashup, just junk food for the ears... how wrong I was. Greg Gillis is being honest when he says he loves ALL music, and even though he has found his success with 'pop' music, his background owes just as much to the underground pioneers, from Negativland up to Kid606, and he readily acknowledges that. The guy knows what he's doing and hopefully this is just the beginning of what we see from him...
this host is a d-bag. how can he slam other people for mashing music and blogging it? does he understand breaks in music are universal? girl talk is not the end all be all of mash ups. hell, dre was doing this at the roadium swap meet before NWA existed! GT is a genius, but don't slam other ppl for trying the same thing.
3:17 "I think it rules I love it..." Haha, I love how he says this when the interviewers all "All this shitty stuff etc" It's like "Shut your pretentious arse the hell up, give it break b"
You cannot deny that you had no concept of this whole idea if not for Z-Trip and the dozens before him. New Skoolers need to educate themselves. By the way Z-Trip did it all MANUALLY with RECORDS. A computer did not mix it for you! LOL. A DJ is a DJ though. Just like in the beginning: The Selector of music. Putting them together in your head is also half the job...
Interviewer: There's an unfortunate trend in the current state of affairs in which kids are getting excited about music, while simultaneously enjoying your own music (unfortunately), and not only that, they're so prolific and so enjoying themselves that they have been spreading their music across the world through the internet, and creating something new out of what has been presented to them. How does this disgusting cultural exchange make you feel?
Yeah, the guy came off as a jerk there. I think people should practice and get better at it first before releasing it, not too many people are gonna be great at the start, but it sounds to me like he was trying to knock them all down there.
i think its funny how he saying "It rules" after the interviewer shits on the kids making music. Girl Talk didn't event "mash-up's", he's just made them popular. I also find it funny how the interview almost insults him by saying "inspired by you...unfortunately". I'd be insulted by that! Imitation is the highest form of flattery..
I FUCKING LOVE THIS GUY!!!!

This interview is hilarious. The guy asking the questions is acting like a rookie and Girl Talk is speaking like an intellectual.

the fact that within the first minute of this interview Greg Gillis mentions Negativland tells me that the dude knows the history of sampling well.
Negativland is amazing as is Girl Talk.
