  • Atrel Thorpe is a beast. Just sayin'....

  • I can say from experience, that Atrel is a wonderful person and very talented martial artist so if you are posting riduculous comments about him, I suggest that you step in the ring with him first. However, I think that point sparring, especially in the light of MMA, is a ridiculous waste of time, and I always have. Tell Atrel and Aregis that the ORIGINAL Hooks says hi.

  • @eruntalon77 Wait, is this John?? Jr/Sr? Well, then. The ORIGINAL Bennett says hi as well :P

  • come on jump kick to the head 3 points!!

  • i love watching mr. thorpe spar

  • Mr. Thorpe doesn't play when he spars...

  • I hate when a fighter put all their wieght on the back leg. Should be 50/50 balance not 90/10. never heard of ITA before. I trained ITF and WTF(World Taekwondo Fedaration) I'm currently intranced in WTF full contact sparring, and training Judo and boxing. I wouldn't even call this Taekwondo. Looks like 1970's karate point sparring.

  • I believe the weight balance depends on what you are about to set up to throw or counter. If you are going to lead with a lead leg attack, weight is on the back leg. Spin kick weight in the center etc... Sparring is your very own style whether you are WTF, ITF, CTF or any other style. Stop and go point style and continuous sparring has been used by TaekwonDo practitioners all over the world for many decades. So, I do no believe it is 1970's karate point style. But, to each their own. Just enjoy.

  • It's not 90/10....it's more like 60/40 or 70/30. If you're in a backstance you're supposed to be able to kick with your front leg without losing balance.

It is TKD....black belts are all about kicking mostly when sparring. The colored belts mix it up a little bit. And "karate point sparring" as you put it it both kicking & punching.

  • GRRRR!!! I love to complain about other's sparring habits when I don't really know how they fight and then brag about how my training is right and yours is wrong! Muay Thai! Kickboxing! Judo! BJJ! MMA! Taco Bell! I love to loosely throw around the term full-contact to sound tough! GRRRBUH Derkah Derkah! Then again, maybe I'M really the insufferable know-it-all, and not you. Who knows...

  • Nice video. I'm an old CTF guy here. Master Hardin in my cousin and have trained with him for a few years. Post more.
