This LP was always one of my more favorite Floyd discs. I love the sleepy and pastoral mood running throughout. Much more so than on any of the other albums from this period, and I'm a Syd fan mostly.
I dispute the above lyrics. I've looked around for the official lyrics but find only people's own interpretation wwhich don't match what I am hearing. I hear "....MOONSHINE MADE HER BLIND EVERYTIME". Or 'HAZY ARE THE VISIONS OF HER PLANE." But the last line is what in real disput and have read numerous interpretation, but lyrically they don't seem to make sense. "HATE IS THE BOND BETWEEN THE HOPEFUL AND THE ????" This what I hear but it is not correct. It is a beautiful song when Floyd did that
@EyeHawk777 Nope. That doesn't sound either. But it is written by Roger Waters who seems to be a world-class pessimist. I guess it like the song Louie Louie where you can make up your own lyrics. I thought it was ".....the hopeful and doubtful." I prefer my interpretation. It sounds a little less gloomy for such a beautiful song. Thanks.
Wonderful song...once again. I prefer Gilmour to Waters, although they are both amazing. Gilmour might be my favorite vocalist of all time. What a soothing, beautiful voice...
it would have been the song wch god listned to while making humans.. it is beyond.. it is releaving... now that is what a good music sounds like... hats off ...
of course they can, this song, granchester meadows, and unknown song (yes that's the name of it, look it up it is amazing) are some of my favorite feelgood songs of all time.
@nmepig I used to only listen to black metal and death metal, and now? Full fledged hippie, this kind of music is the best along with zepplin and the doors. Its weird, but that's what i see allot of metal heads of old doing, Moving on to the classics. As it should be.
@DarthXasthur I was full fledged heavy metal, but still rocked to Pink Floyd, Lynryd Skynyrd.Charlie Daniels. Good Music is good music, regardless of the genre.
The last line is "Envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned." not "many is the bond..." and moonshine "made" her blind. and quickness "on" the eye
The absolute bliss and overwhelming joy I felt when I found this album in a used record shop is beyond words. I honestly cannot believe this record is sitting on my shelf, ready for me to come home to.

holy shit i listen to this song about a 20 times a day. it makes me happy, i love pink floyd. this album is so fucking underrated its not even funny, people these days have no taste in music. theres no talent in that new age bull shit. we need to convert the rest of these fools into full blown floydians!
@LysergicBliss67 I agree with most of what you said... I'm rediscovering a bunch of Floyd, lately, and loving it alot more than i once did. But, check out Tame Impala... everything from their Inner Speaker album has a really unique sound. I really do miss music, though, in most cases =/
@LysergicBliss67 Any good romance; either present or past, has an awesome theme song. Wish this was mine and my old mans. Ours is "So far away from you" by dire straights. Then there was "why don't we do it in the road" by the Beatles; we're a bit old for that song-we might pull a muscle :)
Heavy hung the canopy of blue Shade my eyes and I can see you White is the light that shines Through the dress that you wore She lay in the shadow of a wave Hazy were the visions overplayed Sunlight on her eyes but moonshine Made her cry every time Green is the colour of her kind Quickness of the eye Deceives the mind Envy is the bond between The hopeful and the damned written by waters and sung by gilmour
