Monkey alan was a tramp that lived in the Dartford area which is where Mckensie Crook (Gareth) grew up. Might be a conicidence but anyone over 30 from Dartford would know of Monkey Alan. Poor bugger drowned in a local fishing lake but has now been given immortality and stradles the comedic pantheons with Morceambe, Cooper et al.
