  • Thank you for posting this...I missed this episode when it first aired. What a great performance by Eric Braeden.

  • Who wrote this episode?

  • Wow. That was heartbreaking. Han's was incredible. He is an amazing and versatile actor. Wow.

  • Wow that was a great performance!

  • Now that was a performance , Eric Braden is a wonderful actor , They are wasting his talents now I don,t know what they are doing to the character

  • Oh no I did not remember him crying!!!! I am not a Victor fan but this made me soft!!!!

  • I am victor newman...THE victor newman!

  • At 9:03 what does Victor say to Nick!

  • @shsbluejayforever06 "thanks for being here my boy"

  • WOW i got teary eyed although i couldn't make out what he told nick.

  • what happen to Victor's mother

  • Unforgetable performance by Eric Braeden and George Kennedy!

  • This scene was priceless!!! Plus when Victor started 2 cry

  • @MzLadybug120 I thought Nick was gonna cry too though!

  • i miss the old time Y&R

  • @atradition So do I, atradition. There was so much better story writing, character choice and development, and much less annihilation of plots, characters, etc., than there is nowadays. They didn't just write someone out or 'kill them off' for seeming no good reason whatsoever as in the case of John Abbott, Sr. (Jerry Douglas)...

  • That was one instance over which I am still bitter. Yes, that is a harsh word, but I liked John Abbott very much. Jerry Douglas contributed so much and for so long, and he was very good at what he did. I appreciate that he has a recurrent role as John Abbott, Sr.'s ghost, but it's still just not the same as it would be were he alive. Nor would Genoa City be the same were he still with us alive. I am still very surprised at myself that I am actually watching this program!!!!! Now they have...

  • ...all but killed-off Nikki Newman!!! What next?!?!? Katherine Chancellor?!?!? Whoops -- I had better not speak too loudly about that or perhaps they might actually do do just that!!!!! They have blasphemed the good name of Bell far too long in my opinion.

  • Wish there had been more background story, such as was Albert in the army stationed in Germany and married a German woman, business man, or what? Doesn't make sense since Victor has a German accent and Albert is an American. Great video though. Thanks for posting it.

  • Eric Braeden, should've,got an emmy for this I,to agree.

  • I have never seen this i am glad someone posted this so i could finally see this

  • "what do you want from me Christian Miller...name me a price, and then I can write you a check and you can go home..." As a man who was left by his father, this story brought me to tears...Even though this is acting, the PAIN is absolutely unbearable. But the acting and the writing is beyond comprehension....how people can ridicule soaps is beyond me...

  • OMG Victor crying!?!?!? WOW!! I agree with everyone else he should have won an emmy for this!

  • you cant imagine how many people is like that old man...

  • When I met my birth mother, she embraced me as hers. Here's a good example of why I should be so grateful.

  • I think his own guilt was so bad he put up barriers.

  • if eric ever left Y&R he should go to GH and play Sonnys father

  • I usually can't stand Victor but I felt SO bad for him here! It feels like his mind went to a place he'd buried so deep it rarely came out.

I can't believe how good Eric Braeden was here!

  • George Kennedy' behavior reminds me of one of those Old Kings of Englandwhere he bellows and launches into frequent out bursts and rage. I seen Peter Ustinov play King William in a Bio pic of Queen Victoria and he sounds just like Kennedy.

  • @NFitalianGuy I am still trying to remember who played his birth mother. Was it Katherine Hepburn just before her death? I have searched countless times on a number of search engines and cannot find it anywhere. I'm pretty sure it was she, but I would really appreciate confirmation. Thank you so much, anyone who is 'in the know'! ♥♥♥

  • @TheLadyanwyn Actress Dorothy McGuire portrayed his Birth Mother. in fact on the last xmas episode, in december 2010 they did " A Christmas Carol" type episode centered around Victor Newman and one of the three Ghosts showed him his past. one scene was with Victor & his mother on her death bed which was also on xmas eve. It was touching & sad. Victor actually had tears when he and his mother quoted psalms & how they never had money for the collection plate. Awesome episode.. :)

  • Victor Newman had a horrible childhood But he made something of himself. It sickens me when his daughters think they deserve their trust funds & that they can get away with suing him for HIS money. Victor has made his own success. his Empire privately owned & then seeing his ungrateful children sue him because they want their freedom. If they want freedom then they should go out & do what their father did & make it on their own.

  • DAMN!!! I know he Victor dad, he talking to Nick like that. JUST LIKE VICTOR. LOL

  • Eric Braden (Hans Gudagast) was brilliant in" Colossus, the Forbin Project", and should have always been in the movies.

  • now I know where Victor got his mean streak from.

  • All I can say is WOW..You never see Victor get emotional.

  • @Bluzey30 Certainly not that way.

  • Awesome vid....it was great to see Vic like this...so vulnerable...brought tears to my eyes.,

  • When George Kennedy was on Dallas as Carter McKay, his scenes when he would get angry and yell are the same here. He never really was good at yelling and being angry it was Too Hammy for my taste. Eric Braeden is great in this scene. He is the crown Jewel in Y&R's Crown. No wonder the show has been #1 for the past 22 yrs str8. Eric Braeden is a major factor if they lose him over contract desputes will be the downfall of this great show. Is there a clip of Victor meeting his mother on here?

  • This guy is a pure asshole. Beautiful acting

  • I only started watching Y&R over a year ago and it's been great watching and backtracking past episodes. I must say, I've never seen Victor cry ever til now. What a performance

  • These scenes were perfectly written, wonderfully performed and painful to watch. When a parent abandons a child, the pain follows a person for his/her entire life. It is beyond devastating. My father never wanted me...never gave a damn about me! He is a selfish, miserable man and I pity him. Still, I would be lying if I said that it hasn't been a source of a lot of pain in my life. Knowing that my own father didn't want me has made my relationships with men unhealthy & destructive.

  • I cried with Eric Breaden .. I cannot believe Tony Geary got the Emmy over him .. beyond cruel.

  • @Shasha2 I think this whole "Luke & Laura" thing is stale and why Tony Geary won, is beyond me. These people who vote for the winners of these awards should be impartial and not just vote because of past glory of GH's super couple. The Y&R is the only soap that has been #1 since 1988. Eric Braeden is a great actor.

  • @Shasha2 I agree...Luke & Laura is SO over!!!

  • @TheLadyanwyn I don't think that gaining 'Laura' was worth losing 'Nikki'. Just my opinion. I still miss Nikki.

  • Man Victor Newman is such HANDSOME man I've always enjoyed his performance.........MAGNIFICENT!!!!

  • I don't know way Eric Beaden has only 1 emmy award. It's crazy this man gives masterful performances. Maybe they just expect him to be good. That how i see it

  • omg this made me cry..............i vaguely remember watching it w/ victor's dad in a in a garden type setting..or wasnt that victor dreaming?

  • @meelapinni The garden thing was just a dream and in the dream Albert Miller was played Eric Breaden.

  • Let's give it up to George Kennedy in this role,he was so amazing!!

  • @vodkagal28 This isn't the only time George Kennedy and Eric Breaden have acted together.

  • Good thing, Victor's ENTIRE family didn't join him, it would have been an extreme massacre. They'd be appalled at Albert for saying that he cares nothing for his sons(Victor/Christian and Matthew), his grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Some people just never change, no matter how much time has passed.

Albert Miller is the one man that will always haunt Victor. Victor despises him more than he despises anyone else, including Jack and Adam.

  • Despite how ugly it was, for a short time, 3 generations of Newmans/Millers were together.

Albert doesn't give a damn that his son has become a huge success or that he's given him grandchildren(indirectly). It's still unknown if he has died.

Victor's mother, Kora returned in the 80's and admitted to Victor that she really hated giving him up and always wanted to come to the orphanage to reclaim him, but could never make enough money to make it happen. Victor forgave her before she died.

  • This is emmy material here to watch some serious acting classic moments of the best soap of 2003. Victor has really come a long way to demonstrate the importance of family. Adam would never understand why his dad has tolerated him and wouldnt abandon him the way his father did! WOW I know Nick is never gonna forget this one.

  • Eric Braeden is an amazing actor on Y&R. He always brings out the best on the show.

  • @ksbaxter HE WAS ROOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD!!

  • @80s90sRealBasketball G.O.A.T PERFORMANCE BY ERIC BRAEDEN!!

  • @80s90sRealBasketball This is emmy material here to watch some serious acting classic moments of the best soap of 2003. Victor has really come a long way to demonstrate the importance of family. Adam would never understand why his dad has tolerated him and wouldnt abandon him the way his father did! WOW I know Nick is never gonna forget this one.

  • @SpiritofTruth2009 damn right and BTW, excellent anylasis on why Adam would never understand why Victor proceeded to tolerate Adam, despite his deception in keepin his fam in the dark.....

  • @SpiritofTruth2009 Victor has always wanted to prove that he is better than his father and that he is nothing like him. However, despite how much Victor refuses to believe or even accept it, he is very much like his father. The thing that seperates Victor from his father, is that Victor cares for and loves family.

  • @ksbaxter I still have great difficulty understanding what he is saying much of the time though. He truly does deserve the nickname, "Mr. Mumbles".

  • wow i am still shocked Eric Breaden did not win for this work! He was awsome in this

  • @96xohels Eric BReaden is the Man! The best charatcer on Y&R! I hate him for what he did to Victoria! But a great actor!

  • @tvfanist What did he actually do to Victoria? She is a spoiled Biatch who had everything handed to her on a silver platter. She's Victor's first born & name sake. She & Nicholas are alittle more special since they're from his union w/Nikki, Victor's true love. Even though they divorced many times, Nikki has Victor's heart. Victor loves all of the kids he had with his other wives but there's a special feeling ppl have for their kids with that person that is their true love.

  • Wow. How Eric Braeden didn't get an Emmy for this performance is beyond me.

  • @Conntessa Agreed!!!

  • I think because so many people are affected by adoption, one way or the other. And this is the worst possible scenario for those searching.

  • @Conntessa I agree.
