  • Hi Alain

Those chords I wrote down beneath for 'recontrachismoso' is for the intro to the song 'Baudalaire' by Serge Gainsbourg.

For 'je t'aime...' it's only major and minor chords all the time (with some inversions).

    The 'je t'aime...' intro is C/E (inversion), F, G, F, C/E (inversion), F, G.

After the intro it is C, Dm, Em, Dm, Em/B (inversion), Dm/A (inversion). Then C, Dm again, etc.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • Thanks Alain!

I just checked it out, and your version is very good!

    Keep swinging in Belgium,

  • Hi, can you help me to find the cords, tabs or partiture of the song Baudalaire by Serge Gainsbourg.... i will apreciate your help.. thanks!

  • Hi recontrachismoso

I could only find lyrics on internet, but I took a listening at Gainsbourg's song here at YouTube and this, I believe, is the intro and start to get you going with the chords.

    Intro, played two times:

    Dm9, Dm9, G13, G13, Cmaj9, Cmaj9.

    First part of first chorus:

    Dm9, G13, Cmaj7, Cmaj7.

    Cm7, F7, Bbmaj7, Bbmaj7.

  • Hi awaken

    I will redo je t'aime... That's the plan :-)

But in order to do that I need to first get me a foot pedalboard for the Nord C1. Then I will play the bass line with the foot, the chords with the left hand at the greater and the melody at the swell. There is no point to upload a new take without the foot pedalboard, as the arrangement in that case would be the same as this.

  • good perfmed witsh some minor Errors But keep practising and you will play it flawlessly mate i liked it anyway Tumbs up

  • Thanks kaz!

I had to give this over three years old recording a close listening as you mentioned errors :-) Usually my takes comes warts & all, but I'd say this take is without errors :-) With that I mean that I play the song as I intended regarding chords and melody and didn't flub.

Strangely, though, the video and the sound has gone out of sync, at least at this moment. This going out of sync after some time has happened to other uploads as well...

can you give me the left hand chords please.

    thank you so much

  • Thanks ludo!

It's only major and minor chords all the time (with some inversions). I hope and believe it is not difficult to see what I'm playing. At least that was what I was aiming for when doing this song :-)

    The intro is C/E (inversion), F, G, F, C/E (inversion), F, G.

After the intro it is C, Dm, Em, Dm, Em/B (inversion), Dm/A (inversion). Then C, Dm again, etc.

I hope this info get you going :-)

  • Mivel én is szeretem és játszottam e szép számot, ajánlom az orgonaszólót hallgatni, nézni. A ongoristák letölthetik, meg mások is. Gartulálok ehhez.

  • can I request you play "Lemon Incest"?

I enjoy the tune, and I'd like to see it simplified to piano

I'd like to be able to see the melody and play it myself (with the chords)

  • Hi Jason

Sorry, but I have to pass up on 'Lemon Incest'. I'm concentrating my too few hours at the organ on jazz blues stuff for time being.

I did listen though to the Gainsbourg take (the original I assume) and I do understand that you like the melody line in 'Lemon Incest', as it is quite unique.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • allright mate, thanks for the response...

say, are there any other melodies you're familiar with that remind you of "lemon incest" ...or have the same qualities or the same appeal ?

    anyone?

  • A must have for the organ. 5S.

  • Hi Rose

    Thanks!

I agree with you, and 'je t'aime...' is not that difficult to play so it isn't too difficult to add it to the repertoire.

  • Je vais et je viens... entre tes reins... et je me retiens !!!!!! XD

  • Hi ggaudin

The lyrics was quite outspoken for being from the sixties, wasn't it? And the song caused quite a stir at that time. I think, today the lyrics wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

  • I can watch and listen to your rendition of this beautiful sensual melody forever...I have a new love whom I am mad for...and he, too, appreciates music such as yours.

    Thanks you Rounder

  • Hi SensualOne

Many thanks for your wonderful comment!

  • jolie version de je t'aime moi non plus bravo

  • Merci beaucoup, Musikela!

  • Maravilloso...

  • Gracias señorita motowoman :-)

  • Great..it catches all the spirit of that song! So romantic and sensual

  • Hi pacus. Thanks!

I had two things in mind when recording this song.

First, trying to capture, to use your words, the spirit of the song.

Second, to record with a camera view so that is should be quite easy for other interested to see what I'm doing playing this song. That is, help spreading this lovely tune!

If I have managed to capture the spirit, I'm delighted!

  • Hey, it's really good :)

Could you make a tutorial? There's no one else on youtube playing it.

  • Hi cuticula. Thanks!

Well, sorry, but I will not make a specific tutorial for this song. I used a camera view in this clip so that it should be possible to see what notes the right hand is playing.

If it's difficult to see/hear the left hand chords, just drop a line and I'll jot them down!

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • exeleeente , awesome

  • Wow... beautiful hands, too. ;)

  • Uhè i miei complimenti!Ci sai far proprio con l'organo!!Bravissimo!

  • Many thanks xfaida! :-)

  • Very Beautiful....

  • Thank you SensualOne!

  • Yamaha P-120? =)

    Nice playing btw.

  • Thanks LonePianist!

Yes, the piano is an Yamaha P-120 with the 'Jazz Organ' setting. To get a deep bass in the beginning I'm using the 'Split' function set to 'Wood Bass' up to the note G1.

    Keep swinging,

    Rounder

  • Yamaha P-120? =)

    Nice playing btw.

  • Nice stuff

  • Thx In2Tech :-)

  • This vid is from the sixties - isn't it? Good work.

  • Thanks Markus! The song is way back from 1968, so, yes, you're right :-) Check 'About This Video' for the details.

  • why do you do vibrato? it won't work on an organ.

  • Hi cardamom. You're absolutely right! My vibrato will not affect the organ. Probably it was the other way round :-) The sound of the organ Leslie simulation vibrato affected me!

  • you dare with Imagine of Jhon Lennon? serious very good! , headresses very well

  • very good! congrats!! that melody tough simple is the reflection of a genius!

  • Thanks Sinco! It was Serge Gainsbourg that came up with the melody and Arthur Greenslade that made the arrangement for the song, and, yes, they did a really great job!

  • Sounds really good Rounder! Getting closer and closer on playing "Green Onions." This is a beautiful song for the B3 also. Thanks for your inspiration!!!

  • Thanks 69B3! This song will sound very good with your Hammond B3. Je t'aime is not that difficult to play. Just think of the rhythm, steady cruise control all the way with no speeding or braking! And almost everyone that you play this song for will like it. It's a sweet organ song.

  • Thanks Rounder for the videos , they are inspiring for those like me who loves the sounds and are rookies on the keyboard, the song itself was very riske when it came out, but you manage the capture the sensuality of it 30some years later..

  • Thanks abl! The song is not that difficult to play, with this video as instruction. The difficult part might be to be able to capture the feeling of the song, and if I have managed to do that in some way I'm glad! Keep the groove, abl!

  • You play it good:) It's a nice song..

  • Thanks FilipM1!

  • This is awesome.

Do you have any mp3s of this or your others?

  • Thanks lucasmarr! Sorry, I've got no MP3's of my piano and organ songs. Only videos.

  • 3th→3rd...sorry.

  • Good,It's like the 3th instrumental version in the soundtrack.

Your playing is simple,so I'm moved very much.

  • Thanks junjigains for your comment! I have always liked the organ in this song and if I manage to capture some of it in this little arrangement I'm happy :-) I must admit, I havn't heard the 3rd instrumental version from the soundtrack. Got to find it and listen to it :-)

  • Really?I feel this arrangement better, knowing that you haven't heard that version.

    You would like that.

Please keep playing with your own expression!

  • Congratulations :D

  • Thx Queen!

  • I´m in love... :) Great job Rounder! (I wonder if i can do that song in Boogie Tempo) hmmm :)

  • Thx Mr Rollingbass. 'je t'aime...' as a boogie woogie - that would be something! Give it a try!

  • Love this piece of music.

  • This song has indeed something special! Even though it is a bit repetitive. I could unfortunately not get the original bass line also while playing the chords and melody - only got two hands :-)
