@klutterkicker yeah, there is definite differences from run to run, and between individual robots. When more precision is required, we use a real-time motion capture system as feedback to close the loop.
When I was in high school I worked a little with a programmed robot. You would give it the same command twice and it would move a completely different distance or angle. It looks like the Roombas have a little of that, but not enough to ruin it.
