Since the wedding took place in the hospital and Cecil expired shortly after, where do you suppose Alexis had thought to hold the reception that "Denver would never stop talking about"? Is it implied that she was going to have it at her studio?
no , the reception was going to be in the yard of the mansion that is why krystle and blake where going on a trip , so they dont have to witness the wedding of two people who they despise.
in the episode that krystle and blake to decide to go on a trip its because they a awaken by the sound of the employees that alexis hired to build the tent for the reception,
Homeric, your explanations make sense... but my only issue with it is that these clips ARE from Season 2. The new foyer directly across from the entry way had already been introduced and established by this time. If there was still a staircase across from the dining room by then (there definitely was because I remember the breakfast scene you're talking about), it must have been a secondary one or one of the back stairways.
All of that still makes the setup here extremely peculiar... This extravagant living area still appears to be directly across from the entry way in the place where the foyer had already moved to by this point in the series...

I did say it was after season 2 that the set was redesigned. The foyer itself may have been established but it's location was shifted after season 2. The great room was eliminated on the set and a formal foyer took it's place. After that views down the main hall eliminated any access to the 2nd floor from there.
I'm sure they played around withthe set as well in these early years so anything is possible in terms of individual scenes. There is a clip where Krystle greets SammyJoe for the 1st time and enters the library from the great room through doors under the main staircase. The only time I recall those doors ever being used. A solarium was installed in the general area later (small room I have a website that has pics of the set).
The first two seasons were actually shot at the Filoli mansion in san mateo. Once the success of the show was assured, the producers decided to build a set based on the original house in the Hollywood studios.
There is a scene early in season 2 where Blake and Krystle are having brekfast in the dining room andd Fallon comes down the main staircase..that would be based on the Fioli floorplan sort of. The set as we remember it is aesthetically the same as Filoli but re-arranged. The pilot for Dynasty shows the layout of the house and you can see where the design for the set came from.
I was wondering the same thing, Nudedude. It looks more open and the furniture seems rearranged slightly. It also appears to be directly across from the front door/entry way, where the foyer would normally be... LOL I'm confused.
The original Carrington set was modelled after the Filoli Estate which has a large living area as you enter from the foyer. The orignal encounter between the 2 was in what became the formal living room which was down the hall to the right at the end of the hall.
This room on the Dynasty set became the the main staircase entry I believe in the following season. Producers remodelled the set at some point based on segments of the Filoli estate to allow for better flow. The orignal scene between the 2 happened in the formal living room at the end of the main hall to the right.
Marion has the clip where Alexis is poaching supplies for her studio. It shows much the original layout and how the set was changed. Note in the scene as Krystle is leading Alexis to the living room Alexis is taking stock of the house, she looks up the staircase that was later moved from the end of the hall to the center of the house. Though we don't see it in the clip.
@nudedudemale This was before Dynasty moved to the Warner Hollywood Lot..I can't remember where the first 2 seasons were filmed. When the production moved to the WH Lot the set was reconstructed to be more condusive to filming needs. As the set appears in the first 2 seasons is based more on the filoli floorplan.
LOL Love how Alexis nods her head after she says "my studio." Little things like dat put Joan in a league all of her own.

It would have been interesting to see Krystal be nice to Alexis and Alexis let her, at least for a moment. Then they could go back to fighting.
