@delsurway Dude, you have to ship these from Japan or UK then you'll have 120 days to make it street legal and if you don they'll take it and impound that shit... Meaning smashing this beauty
@youngsoldier93 US registered importers are allowed to legalize cars if they are on the non-compliant but eligible list at the NHTSA's website. Unfortunately, since 2006, the R34 GTR is not on that list.
For anyone interested in getting these cars legalized in america I am starting a new petition on having the 25 year law changed to 15 years. if you are interested go to my profile, watch my latest video. and message me. WE CAN HAVE THESE CARS HERE!
@1RUNXBL hahaha NO! and even if you were to just "change the steering wheel" it would only be left hand drive. but you cant just change it. you have to modify so much to do that. then find a skyline that IS left hand drive and use those parts to convert your interior. the steering column the fire wall the rack and pinnion, the peddals... god so much for just that. AND you dont even need that. But then everything else you need to do to have a skyling in america.
why is r34 not legal in the US ? here in argentina, cars like these are sport cars, and cant be used here, the " best " car you cant get here by legal means, is a subaru impreza, i want this r34 so bad =(
The owner of this car is a fucking god!!!! To get a r34 legalized in the usa is just amazing, ive been researching these cars for years and i know how much time he must have put in to get this car on the street. CONGRATS i hope to see many more legal in the future i too want to own one some day :)
@Chuckster1414 Parts are very expensive, both drivetrain and cosmetic. It's a fairly low production car, they only made 11,310 R34 GTRs in the four years, so they didn't turn out the Skyline specific parts in high quantities.
@Chuckster1414 Not that exspensive but if you have or had a R32 GTS-t, R33 GTS-t or R34 GTT parts and maintainence were as cheap as owning a honda.... especially the R32 GTS-t. The R34 GTT was a little more but nooooowhere as hard as the GT-R's
@Millertalon Have you ever imported parts from Japan? Do you have any idea what it costs to coordinate someone on the ground in Japan to aquire parts, pack them , get them to customs, supply all the paperwork, ship them over here, get them through customs in the US and then shipped from the destination port to your home? You have to fill a container. Do you really have an idea of how much parts are for this car?
@VectorW8015 Yes. LOL. Yes I do. That's why I said why bother wasting my money and save it for when the car is legal here in Winter 2014. Have it shipped from a friend to Halifax and drive from Newfoundland to pick it up. 2-3 day drive including the Ferry. Trust me when I say I've had this on the brain for almost 15 years+.
Awesome to see one of the legal ones looking good. One of the fully legal R33s is here in Colorado and its painted bright Lamborghini Orange with a matching valve cover. The owner cant drive for shit either..I get the feeling he bought the car to make people think he has a big cock. Only reason he has any friends is because of the car and its bought, not built. He hasnt done a single thing to make it better beside put an alarm on it. Such a waste. He wouldnt even rev it a little bit when I asked
In 2014 this car will be able to be shipped to Canada as it will pass the 15yr length period required to be imported. All R32's/R33 Models in Canada are legal.
@drdouche1 The car is a lot smaller than you would think! It's wide and masculine and has lines that really make it stick out in traffic, but I'm 6'3 230lbs and there is no great seating position. The buckets are comfortable but the knees do not really have all the room I would like to have. People seem to think it's a really large car, that it grew a lot since the R32, but next to an R35 it is quite compact.
@danox574 good to know, i've only seen r32's with r34 kits on them and never a real authentic GTR, so it's hard to judge from videos. i guess im thinking it is r35 size which is huge!
@VectorW8015 R34 prices are skyrocketing in Japan! Keep in mind Nissan only produced 11,310 R34 GTRs in the entire production run, and many have disappeared!
@VectorW8015 I'm from Newfoundland, Canada & waiting till January 2014 to get mind shipped into Halifax and I'll drive down the shore to bring home. Trailer or driving it depending on weather/time of year. Sadly my current DSM I've owned for 7+ years will have to go :(
@superomega1100 Back before I said "F**k It, I'll wait 15 years..." I was going to do it they way people did it themselves in Canada & theUS by bringing it in as a whole/full car or in sections by having the company dissasemble it in 4 sections (Body, Suspension - ALL underneath, Interior & Drivetrain - Engine+Tranny) and assemble it back together & Register it as a "Kit Car". Meaning it would be a 2011 Nissan 240SX/S16 or however your want to do it. But every year you have to register it over.
@240sxGuy3 you cant buy a r34 GTR V Spec for $30,000... 30k = 2 million yen... these v spec is around 4 million yen the car itself. that means you need $60,000 for that car... the dollar to yen rates these days is around 75-80 yen per dollar...
@VectorW8015 I know I can't afford it I just want to know. that shit is to expensive get it imported then you have to make it legal and shit that is to much work.
The only modifications to the car are with NISMO factory performance parts. All original parts are boxed and cataloged. It is the ultimate factory tuned R34.
@VectorW8015 nah that seems a bit high. Even US-Legal ones don't run that high (80K is the highest I've seen), and to make one legal would run you around double that.
If you think that is all it takes to make a 100% perfect R34, with all Nismo parts from Japan, then you should run right out and buy one. Since you cant make one legal here in the US, that makes things a little more difficult. There are only 13 here in the US that will ever be legal. The rest are being siezed by the government. No more are coming here.
@VectorW8015 K, to make one legal, you import it from Japan (car + freight), then you take the car, make it a LHD (to be on the safe side), then modify all the panels 'n windshields to meet US standards, change the speedometer to English units, and mod it to pass emissions.
OH! did you also know that you actually CAN import one without doing all of that for track or show purposes? The latter means the car can't have over 2K miles a year. Hell, I saw 1 in 08 with Indiana tags.
Apparently you have not done your research. Show and display will not allow you to bring in an R34. So no, you can not bring one in and then why if you could would you convert it to LHD? Its not illegal to own a RHD car in the US. The car you are looking at in the vid is RHD.
@VectorW8015 If you can't bring one over for show and display, then why did I see TWO of them, one with Indiana tags, at Hot Import Nights three years ago? Also two R33's and an R32 with Illinois tags, that was actually for sale for 25K. Importing it for show means it can't have more than 2,400 miles on it per year, and track's pretty obvious. I've already proven you don't know what you're talking about.
@akaTRAP91 Dude, Vector above has taken cars in for DOT/EPA approval and I've been studying this for some time. R32s were denied for show and display -- check nhtsa gov if you need to know for yourself. Show & Display import requires EPA compliance, which requires OBD-II conversion, which is not possible at this time. 'Imported' and 'Legally imported' are different. Just google 'skyline seizure' and see piles of NOT legal cars already in the USA. How does you seeing these cars prove anything?
@akaTRAP91 Hey, I understand where you're coming from. I've read all the NHTSA, DOT, and EPA laws on car import, I've imported cars, I own them, I've been in touch with the govt, I have a bond release letter, I have been on calls with the NHTSA regarding import law, I have been in touch with multiple owners of seized cars, I've been in touch with Kaizo owners who are in a legal battle over their cars, and I've watched the seized vehicles exoprted, and that's all the proof *I* need. YMMV.
@akaTRAP91 I have no interest in changing your mind, I just want to help people who read the comments on this get steered towards the right information. Consider the posts information for the readers, and they can either listen to you or read for themselves at the resources I provided.
@VectorW8015 K, to make one legal, you import it from Japan (car + freight), then you take the car, make it a LHD (to be on the safe side), then modify all the panels 'n windshields to meet US standards, change the speedometer to English units, and mod it to pass emissions.

@alvaroalomia1993 omg your fucking stupid. QUOTE "My friend is a very lucky man, he owns one of 14 federally legalized Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V Spec's that were brought in to the United States" THERE IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION, THIS ISNT THE ONLY SKYLINE IN THE US, IDK IF THERES EXACTLY 14, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ONLY ONE. FUCKING RETARD
@supra98ify a "faggot ass bugatti" Lol, i'm sure you wouldn't say that face to face with someone who owns one, then kicks your ass in his "faggot ass bugatti"
@errybodykilla Department of Transportation. NHTSA = National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Gov agencies who seem to care about the car. This car got it's signoff from the gov. because it was imported by Motorex back in 2002 (when it was legal to do so).
you can thank the fast and the furious for making it asif every person with a Jap car is a street racer and eventually grabbing the cops attention for having high performance vehicles...
@toy200sx This car has only original Nissan and Nismo bolt ons -- the suspension is the Nismo S-Tune suspension system. It does lower the ride just a little bit.
@dren934 R34 is no longer federally importable since 2006, the R33 technically is but requires an OBD-II conversion that no one can actually do at this time.
@dren934 At 25 years, the DOT compliance issue is no longer relevant, at 21 years the EPA compliance is no longer relevant. If there are no law changes between now and 2024, we will be able to start buying 1999s from overseas at that time. However, I do not suspect that the law will remain the same and finding a quality car at that time may be a challenge (due to the fact that only 11,310 R34 GTRs were ever made).
@danox574 yeah thats true, the finding the r34s and the law part, but i will settle for r33s or 32s, but like you said it needs an obd-II conversion, but i guess I have to wait and see
@gerben8619 It was only possible to import them up until 2006, and they were very expensive to bring in through Motorex (about $105k). So few came in to the USA at all.
@Heem24100 u know i think thats kind of weird u dont know me and ur already fantasizing about ur dick in my mouth....get a life fuck face and stop being such a little faggot and next time think of a better come back but for now have a nice day queer bait
I have a 99 Skyline GTR R34 if u kno all the loop holes in the DMV u can register it. Who gives a shit if it's legal or not. My shit is highly upgraded too :D
stop disrespecting a well built automobile by calling it a ricer and meaning every bit of disrespect you put into your comment...Doesnt matter how many cylinders a vehicle has...its the TLC the owner puts into it to make it what it is. Or the Car Company itself. It starts out like every other car...its an idea...turned into reality...and the ownere has the freedom to make it that much better. I for one have seen 4 cylinder vehicles pump out well over 400 hundred horsepower. ITS AMAZING
@Darknights7 No, there are no state laws preventing the usage of these cars, but the federal laws on import no longer allow them to be imported. Those that were brought in when it was legal to do so are grandfathered into the older laws.
@Darknights7 Motorex imported about 100 cars to the US -- mostly R33s, some R32s and just a couple R34s. I'd guess after accidents and such about 70 of those are left. It was in 2006 that they stopped allowing the R33 crash test data to be used for the R32 and R34, and that's approximately the time Motorex went under and the flow stopped.
@Darknights7 Well, basically, Motorex crash tested a R33 and submitted a request to the Feds for a 'substantially similar' clause, which would allow the R33 crash data to be used on the R32 and R34 because the chassis were so similar. It was granted, and that crash testing was valid for the R32 and R34. In April of 2006, the government rescinded that clause, leaving the crash test data that is on file valid for the R33 but not for the R32 and R34 going forward. Cars before 2006 are unaffected.
@danox574 do you know if theres any other way to import one? i know motorex doesnt import them anymore but they still help make them legal for US standards,is there another partnership i could use?
@falloutboy9424 Motortex's website is still available only for historical purposes, they have been long gone since about 2005-2006. Do a google search for '0-60 Motorex' for an article called 'Motorex and the North American Skyline Fiasco', it tells the whole story of why they are no longer with us.
@ThePizzaGuy1396 They don't meet DOT and EPA requirements unless crash tested and then imported through a registered importer who handles the changes needed to bring it into compliance. The R34 has no crash testing on file at this time, the R33 does but no one makes a OBD-II system that would allow it to be made compliant.
@Bahamuttiamat When new cars or any cars are on the market they have to crash test them first. Since we never received the skylines no crash testing was made for this car. Motorex did do crash testing but with the R33. So if you want skylines to be legal then buy a few R32's and 34's and crash tested to U.S. standards. We have 240's so its not very hard to register them here (well florida that is). May sound stupid to some people to crash this car but it can save lives. Obey or go to jail.
How good would it be if he ACTUALLY DROVE IT!, Man it's a V Spec GTR put your foot into it for the camera. My Good friend has The V Spec R34 in the dark purple metallic and it is an absolute monster. GTR Skylines are the best thing to ever hit the roads

If license plate of Japan is acquired, possession is possible in the U.S. whole country.
The United States has permitted driving by license plate registered in Japan.
However, illegal, when selling and buying in the United States.
And illegal, if the car is not certainly returned to Japan in when.
If this promise is not kept, it is punished from two countries, the United States and Japan.
By this method, you have to pay Japan the tax concerning a car.

@danox574 If I can see two R34's, one with Indiana tags and one with Illinois tags, that's all the proof I need.
akaTRAP91 5 months ago
@akaTRAP91 Hey, I understand where you're coming from. I've read all the NHTSA, DOT, and EPA laws on car import, I've imported cars, I own them, I've been in touch with the govt, I have a bond release letter, I have been on calls with the NHTSA regarding import law, I have been in touch with multiple owners of seized cars, I've been in touch with Kaizo owners who are in a legal battle over their cars, and I've watched the seized vehicles exoprted, and that's all the proof *I* need. YMMV.

@errybodykilla Department of Transportation. NHTSA = National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Gov agencies who seem to care about the car. This car got it's signoff from the gov. because it was imported by Motorex back in 2002 (when it was legal to do so).

i was wondering what is the process for getting a r33 or r34 into america
dren934 10 months ago
@dren934 R34 is no longer federally importable since 2006, the R33 technically is but requires an OBD-II conversion that no one can actually do at this time.
danox574 9 months ago
@danox574 alright thanks for the info, but i heard that after 25 years you can import them
dren934 9 months ago
@dren934 At 25 years, the DOT compliance issue is no longer relevant, at 21 years the EPA compliance is no longer relevant. If there are no law changes between now and 2024, we will be able to start buying 1999s from overseas at that time. However, I do not suspect that the law will remain the same and finding a quality car at that time may be a challenge (due to the fact that only 11,310 R34 GTRs were ever made).
danox574 9 months ago
@danox574 yeah thats true, the finding the r34s and the law part, but i will settle for r33s or 32s, but like you said it needs an obd-II conversion, but i guess I have to wait and see

gerben8619 10 months ago
@gerben8619 It was only possible to import them up until 2006, and they were very expensive to bring in through Motorex (about $105k). So few came in to the USA at all.
danox574 10 months ago

mrdarky2 11 months ago
stop disrespecting a well built automobile by calling it a ricer and meaning every bit of disrespect you put into your comment...Doesnt matter how many cylinders a vehicle has...its the TLC the owner puts into it to make it what it is. Or the Car Company itself. It starts out like every other car...its an idea...turned into reality...and the ownere has the freedom to make it that much better. I for one have seen 4 cylinder vehicles pump out well over 400 hundred horsepower. ITS AMAZING

Arent skylines/RHD vehicles illegal in U.S.?????
Darknights7 1 year ago
@Darknights7 No, there are no state laws preventing the usage of these cars, but the federal laws on import no longer allow them to be imported. Those that were brought in when it was legal to do so are grandfathered into the older laws.
danox574 11 months ago
@danox574 so like theres probably only 30 skylines out of the whole states of America... lol
that sucks balls then the cars probably cost over 100 grand... here in canada you can BARELY find one, and if you do its 50k.
wait wait wait so that importing ban was effective when? because these cars are startin off from 1990 and up to 2002?
Darknights7 11 months ago
@Darknights7 Motorex imported about 100 cars to the US -- mostly R33s, some R32s and just a couple R34s. I'd guess after accidents and such about 70 of those are left. It was in 2006 that they stopped allowing the R33 crash test data to be used for the R32 and R34, and that's approximately the time Motorex went under and the flow stopped.
danox574 11 months ago
@danox574 crash test data?
Darknights7 11 months ago
@Darknights7 Well, basically, Motorex crash tested a R33 and submitted a request to the Feds for a 'substantially similar' clause, which would allow the R33 crash data to be used on the R32 and R34 because the chassis were so similar. It was granted, and that crash testing was valid for the R32 and R34. In April of 2006, the government rescinded that clause, leaving the crash test data that is on file valid for the R33 but not for the R32 and R34 going forward. Cars before 2006 are unaffected.
danox574 11 months ago
@danox574 do you know if theres any other way to import one? i know motorex doesnt import them anymore but they still help make them legal for US standards,is there another partnership i could use?
falloutboy9424 10 months ago
@falloutboy9424 There are no US companies federalizing Skylines right now. Some claim to be doing it (with shells) but I wouldn't recommend it.
danox574 10 months ago
@danox574 i went on motorex's site and yea they dont say anything either, its a bummer really
so you know why motorex stoped though?
falloutboy9424 10 months ago
@falloutboy9424 Motortex's website is still available only for historical purposes, they have been long gone since about 2005-2006. Do a google search for '0-60 Motorex' for an article called 'Motorex and the North American Skyline Fiasco', it tells the whole story of why they are no longer with us.
danox574 10 months ago
why in america you cant import a skyline ?? cause its rhd ??
frankiewilde1137 1 year ago
@danox574 thank you for the info
ThePizzaGuy1396 1 year ago
@danox574 why exactly are they banned?
ThePizzaGuy1396 1 year ago
@ThePizzaGuy1396 They don't meet DOT and EPA requirements unless crash tested and then imported through a registered importer who handles the changes needed to bring it into compliance. The R34 has no crash testing on file at this time, the R33 does but no one makes a OBD-II system that would allow it to be made compliant.
danox574 1 year ago
@danox574 Dude who the fuk would crash a piece of art.
Bahamuttiamat 1 year ago
@Bahamuttiamat When new cars or any cars are on the market they have to crash test them first. Since we never received the skylines no crash testing was made for this car. Motorex did do crash testing but with the R33. So if you want skylines to be legal then buy a few R32's and 34's and crash tested to U.S. standards. We have 240's so its not very hard to register them here (well florida that is). May sound stupid to some people to crash this car but it can save lives. Obey or go to jail.
